When the shows that tried to copy The Simpsons and was cancelled, The Simpsons put a reference to them all in Treehouse of Horror 3 where we go through a Pet Cemetery and you see gravestones with Family Dog, Fish Police and Capitol Critters on them
I had forgotten about that, but I remember it now. Thanks!
Capitol Critters was funny.
@@TOMBS4ART Yeah. It could have been brilliant if people actually gave it a chance. If they brought it back today and updated it, they could.
"Hail Honey, I'm home!"
Mellow Cream eva braun in that was the voice of B-ko in Project A-ko and a bunch of other anime in the 90's
I was just about to say that!!!
Mellow Cream I know, right?!
Mellow Cream how did they forget that one and why isn't it number one
That is pretty bad though.
"Homeboys in Outer Space."- I'm surprised that you didn't mention that show.
How long did that show last lol
Thanos saw that shit and it was cancelled, omg my sides are hurting
Ron Burrell Jr really
9:55 Yo I literally yelled "No one" right when Kory did!
I actually remember watching Father of the Pride, I even remember the episode where there was a guest appearance of Eddie Murphy as Donkey from the Shrek movies, where he was like this huge celebrity. Which honestly just raises so many questions TBH.
Shrek takes place during Medieval times that's the stupid thing. Father of Pride was modern day ot made no sense.
I know that old CN show Out of Jimmy's Head was cancelled due to the writer's strike and it sucking. It got 20 episodes and if I remember correctly at some point they added a laugh track, it was even edited into previously aired episodes. The show is actually considered lost media now despite having only aired 10 year ago.
Slow Vacation OMG I remember the first episode of that lame show. When they replayed that episode again they edited that dumb laugh track to treat kids to think its funny. Cartoon Network horrible livea ction era.
MsHood1986 The show had a physical release in the UK but only the first 3 episodes. Everything except the pilot movie and those episodes are lost media. Nobody cared enough about this show to record it.
Slow Vacation I don't see how the movie is missing, that was the best part cuz show kinda sucked
@@lucapeyrefitte6899 Oh I was wrong, the movie isn't lost. I don't think the show is anymore either.
All it was good for was introducing us to tinashe
Who would've thought there was comedy "NO ONE!"
I can't believe you forget "Heil Honey, I'm Home". That's one of the worst ones right there.
I think there may be a debate whether that show actually ever aired.
Nicole White It did air. 6 episodes were produced but only the pilot aired once before being immediately pulled and cancelled. To this day, the other episodes remain unseen by the public.
oh okay .
They... made a Hitler sitcom... what the fuck?
"It's true what they say, when you put Hitler in a turtle neck sweater, ... it's still Hitler..."- Brad Jones
This was one hell of a fun way to spend half an hour. I hope the Double Toasted team can revisit this subject again. Between movies, TV and music, there’s a cubic ton of WTF entries out there. You could dedicate an entire line of channels to the subject-assuming that hasn’t already been done.
The only reason I heard of 'Cop Rock' is because people were talking about it on the VH1 show 'I love the 90s.'
I think CNN talked about it on one of their shows about the 90s as well.
Also I'm not going to lie, I watched a bunch of these shows when they were on TV. In my defense, I was just a kid and didn't know any better.
Homeboys In Outer Space definitely should have never existed
Brandon White that was sad
I was gonna say that one. Terrible.
I used to like that show 🤣
I watched every episode of that show and I don't know why.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah I remember Family Matters making fun of that. 😂😂
I'm surprised "Turn-On" from 1969 isn't on the list. On the East Coast it was cancelled after its first episode aired, was pulled from the air during a commercial break in the Midwest and was cancelled even before it got to the West Coast.
Pulled during a commercial break? Damn!
One of my co-workers didn't believe me when I told him about Cop-Rock. Automan was a broke ass Tron. I'm surprised you didn't mention that in "Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer" a running gag was Abraham Lincoln closeted homosexual.
Wait a minute? That Desmond sitcom on UPN was real?! I thought it was just a gag from the Clerks cartoon
This is why I,m such a big fan of Double Toasted..Especially Martin and Korey...These dudes have giant archives of Classic TV series and movies in their brain. They put me onto so much shit.. Lol
Agreed
Anybody remember the superhero shows Manimal and M.A.N.T.I.S.?
Yeah Mantis was not bad
Oh yah I remember M.A.N.T.I.S but I didn't know about Manimal.
Manimal the dude that can transform in to a Black Panther, Owl, cat etc. Heavy breathing during every transformation. Using the Howling effects.
I loved MANTIS, was so pissed it got canned.
Viper, now that was shit.
Manimal was not bad
I remember in the 80s there was this nostalgia kick for old tv shows. So the networks made reboots. There was New Monkees. New Dennis the Menace. A new Leave it to Beaver with the original cast. Which I was only subjected to when I stayed with my cousins on some weekends. Mainly because they didn’t have cable
Don’t forget The Brady Brides! (I tried to, actually. I convinced myself it was a fever dream.)
Don't forget the New Gidget and the New Adam-12.
@@LiberalPeaceKeeper I made this comment four years ago?! Damn lol. I did forget about those. And the new Munsters too.
And now everybody's been nostalgic for the 80s in the past 23 years.
There is no mention of the all time dumbest show that I cannot believe was made, the Geico Caveman show
I only remember that Desmond Pfeiffer show because of a one off joke from Clerks the Animated Series.
There was a sitcom pilot that aired back in 1989 about a family of black sorcerers. The show was called a little bit strange. It was the Cosby show meets the munsters. It starred a young Martin Lawrence. You can't find this pilot anywhere but you can find a commercial on RUclips. I remember watching it when I was 8 and over the years I would ask people about this show and no one knew what I was talking about. Still don't lol
I remember. The show is LAME!
Ravage Jr never got to see it, but I remember.
"producer by Tim Burton" does Tim Burton only know how to draw one dog?
Being a millennial I do remember CGI animated shows of the 2000s like Tripping The Rift, Reboot, and Lucy Daughter Of The Devil. Only ever seen one episode of Father Of The Pride.
I saw FATHER OF THE PRIDE, but I've never even heard of the other shows... and I'm someone who usually keeps up with these things. In fact, I expected them to talk about the likes of HEIL HONEY I'M HOME, MY MOTHER THE CAR, etc...
I'm surprised the little known sci-fi series, The Starlost, didn't get mentioned here. How bad was it? Even series creator Harlan Ellison disowned it before the first episode ran.
There was this one Australian show, can't quite remember the name, but it lasted half an episode. It was something like America's Funniest Home Videos, but it was all super lewd and low brow videos that got so many complaints that after it cut to commercial the show was cancelled and they didn't even show the rest of the episode (instead it was replaced by a re-run of Cheers)
Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos it was called. It was a spin-off of Australia’s Funniest Home Videos.
jacob divis That sounds a bit like Candid Camera.
Man 😂 Never heard a show get canceled mid episode
I wonder if "Heil Honey, I'm Home" is in this video.
how did anyone at the BBC think that would be a great show?
Gotham Rocks!!!
JohnBlack2345 it wasn’t on the bbc.
Jayfive276 Of course it wasn't on the BBC. I doubt nazi's approve of interracial sex.
JohnBlack2345 It was actually made by the now-defunct British Satellite Broadcasting for one of their channels
Automan! Damn I had been trying to remember the name of that show. I loved that show. I was 6 years old, but I remember watching it.
just wait for the reboot, it will be out soon
Remember Wizards and Warriors? A show during the height of Dungeons & Dragons' hey-day before the Southern Baptist Convention got the ball rolling with labeling them demonic? Starring Jeff Conaway, around about the time he left Taxi, Duncan Regehr and Walter Olkewich, and Clive Reville, the original voice of the Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back. and Julia Duffy before she landed her role on Newhart.
Pink Lady were so popular they had their own anime series in the 70s
I was wondering if the 1965 show 'My Mother the Car' would make the list, but it's pretty damn old. And yeah, the show is exactly what the title suggests; a mans mother is reinCARnated as the family car. Somehow they made 30 episodes. . .
Ellen Degeneres once said that while she doesn't think that they guy who pitched that show was on drug but the guy who greenlit it definitely was.lol
What was the cartoon about a kid who whenever he got nervous he would turn into a car?
@@veksone77 Turbo Teen
"Oooooo I love the Elephants... Bring me my tranquilizer gun" lol
Fish Police looks like Shark Tale.
What is it about fish and film noir?
"October finth"??? 🤔
Sounds like Mike Tyson is taking control of Korey.
I still remember Manimal, a man who could turn into any creature, so he could take on the Triads he learnt Kung Fu by watching nature clips.
5:53 - That song was written by Randy Newman. I shit you not.
25:06 - MIE: "No Martin, the biggest thing in Japan is Godzilla!" (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
Its a good thing he's writing music for Disney/Pixar
The Bugaloos!!!! (the show with the teenagers with wings) That was my jam from Sid & Marty Krofft.
Never ever listen to Martin laugh while you've got a big ol' mouthful of food. You will spit that stuff right out because that laughter is infectious.
Philip Zamora word
I feel like one of the reasons culls like this happen (where decent shows are sacrificed to the TV gods) is because people's expectations for TV have gotten higher in general. I've watched a number of pilots for shows that were perfectly fine, but they were't EXCEPTIONAL. Maybe 20 years ago such a show would have been a hit, but today? Creators are having to up their game left and right.
Oh, wait. Is "The Price is Right" still on the air? Maybe my theory needs tweaking.
About Kevin James...damn.
They even bring in Leah (his former CO star from KoQ) and that didn't even work Dx
I am happy that nbc picked up Brooklyn Nine Nine for a sixth season
Edward Sanchez Productions It's great little comedy. Nine Nine!
Hell yeah. Love the Nine-Nine. #VelvetThunder
Edward Sanchez Productions It sucks that Brooklyn Nine-Nine won't come back until the spring of 2019.
Yeah. But it's better than it not coming back at all.
Just don't go Full Boyle.
Allen Gregory, Naopleon Dynamite, The Inbetweeners (US Version), Cop Rock, The Chevy Chase Show, Brickleberry.
I could be here all day listing terrible cancelled tv shows.
"Just the ten of Us" was cancelled even though it was a spin-off of Growing Pains and highest rated on TGIF on ABC.
doubletoasted is verified now nice
"The puns are too much -" Martin
🤔🤔🤔
Korey pronounced the "p" in Pfeiffer lol
It was a joke on the cancelled show. They actually made a point to say the P isn't silent. But we're glad you're pfeeling proud you caught that.
Makes me think of that Key and Peele sketch where they're saying Michelle Pfeiffer's name like that.
Honestly half of these do sound like something that would be on adult swim or at least a homage featured in a Rick & Morty episode
The Geico Caveman ABC tv show.
The WHAT?!
Yes
I actually liked that show
@@radiofuel2733 You're either young, or not American. "Caveman" was a gem.
I remember that show being a thing but never really saw it as a kid
Still sad that they cancelled The Mick and The Last Man on Earth
L M the mick was horrible
Yes! I'm so disappointed about LMOE.
Also super sad about Last Man and hope it gets picked up by somebody, but I have to admit the last episode of season 4 works really well as a series finale and doesn’t need to be continued imo.
Yeah the Mick really sucked
NeverMindGaming this is the same company that cancelled Firefly so I’m not surprised
The 80s had a lot weird/bad shows like Automan and Cop Rock. Ironically, my friends and I watched some bad(these are bad but good shows) 80s shows just for laughs like Greatest American Hero, Air Wolf, Mammal, Automan, Fall Guy, and more.
Cop Rock aired in 1990.
I was shocked y’all didn’t include “Heil Honey, I’m Home!” You know, the sitcom about Hitler?
I don’t think that show made it past the pilot tho
21:14 The PUNisher has returned!
Automan was the business, all practical effects, big buget tv
jmac2050 It had to be based off Tron.
Despite the shitstorm of shows this year, there s a few good ones like Cobra Kai which was surprisingly enjoyable
GSiv2 Luckily for you, Cobra Kai will have a second season.
ADP1998 hell yeah! #nomercy
So Cobra Kai actually good? The trailers caught my interest.
Cobra Kai 🐍 is great so far. It’s the only reason I’m going RUclips Red.
You think Pink Lady and Jeff is cringe? There was a Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey variety show back in the early 2000s that only aired one episode, it was that bad (the only thing I remember about it was Nick singing a duet with the car from Night Rider).
umm are you sure werent just high and though this was a show
Automan actually looked pretty interesting. I'd probably watch it just for the lolz. It looks like a cross between Tron and Knight Rider.
I was expecting to see that sitcom based on the Geico Caveman.
I remember a show cancelled before its first episode, and that was named "Rewind" starring Mystro Clark and Scott Baio back in the late 90's.
When the FOX Network launched there were two shows that I watched; "21 Jump Street" and a prime time horror show called "Werewolf".
Werewolf was produced by John Landis of American Werewolf in London fame.
I think the show made it halfway through a season 2.
NeverMindGaming Uh huh =)
It's where Johnny Depp started his acting career.
8:10 Hold up! Lucy & Ricky's kid was in the show?!?!?🤣😂🤣😂🤣
14:26 *Martin says the puns are too much*
I appreciate that this list had several WTF shows that weren't the usual suspects (cuz I was thinking of Heil Honey I'm Home and Caveman before watching). I heard about the existence of Pink Lady & Jeff years ago but the clips made it so much more horrifying.
Inhumans 100%
Lol I'm thinking the same thing
Zach Gerrity I forgot that Inhumans was a thing. The show came and went some fast.
The Royal Family deserve better than what they got :(
So why were the Inhumans so bad?
I never saw the show.
I refuse to acknowledge its existence.
In Australia we had a funniest home videos show which was cancelled by its first commercial break. Literally.
Tattooed teenage alien fighters from Beverly hills......enough said.
Power Rangers & 90210 were big time. Someone got really high and thought they can do better than that.
ROFL
What
Homeboys from outspace 😂😂😂😂😂
Oh hey, I recall seeing a few episodes of Fish Police on Cartoon Network. Also, c'mon Corey you haven't seen Heil Honey I'm home? Jeez, you my friend are missing out.
American Actually if I'm not mistaken.
Loved Automan in the early 80s as a kid
Jervis Horton so did I! I wanted that damn car.
I was young when Fish Police came on, but I just remembered the show when DT showed the clip...
Haven't started the video, but if Heil Honey I'm Home isn't on it, then this video was a mistake
Blake F That mess was not in this video.
I remember Father of the Pride! I used to like that as a kid
Do anybody remember this CGI animated show called Gameover about a video game base family? All that I could remember was that the mom was base off of Lara Croft and a weird purple dog. It only had 6 episode when it was cancelled
The new ReBoot reboot should be added to this pile. The show stripped everything that made the original ReBoot unique. It looks like a VR Troopers/Power Rangers re-imagining.
THANK you, Martin! The instant they cut to that creepyass CG Siegfried and Roy, I was like what the fuck, Billy Idol was a guest on this show?
Homeboys in Outer Space and Bosom Buddies (sorry Tom Hanks)
yakuza01 Bosom Buddies was amazing compared to the stuff in this video 😂
Martin's shirt and hat coordination be on point! Sharp as shit. I be wanting to see what shoes he be wearing with it.
They tried to put a show like that on in '98 ?????!!!!! Holy hell.
Dang Korey..... I remember the Automan and Capital Critters shows. My Honorable mentions : Max Headroom😽
Tricie R Max Headroom!!! ♡
Turn-On. It was cancelled while in aired on the East Coast, in the middle of the show.
What... is ... happening! Double Toasted crew! Shoutouts from Denver,Colorado!!! Alll that toasty goodness!!!
I remember back in the day there was a pilot that aired only once that was a spin-off of Nickelodeon's Kablam! called "The Henry and June Show". It only aired once and it wasn't until somebody posted it on youtube back in 2015 that people were able to see it again. Heck....for the longest time I thought either I imagined it or it was just stuff from a Kablam! episode.
I watched it and lets just say there is a reason it only aired once because it wasn't very good, which is a shame because Henry and June deserved a show of their own.
I think about TV shows and Cancelled...
All I end up wishing was back is Dark Matter.
ugggggggh i didn't know it got cancelled; craaaap; dang and syfy cancelled expanse too
Sci-Fi loves canceling their shows at at latest 3 seasons.
I heard "fish police" from the kitchen when I was grabbing a coffee and shouted WTF. I kept asking people if they remembered that and nobody knew what the hell I was talking about. So much so I thought I just imagined that shit.
Great channel btw
Saved by the Bell:The New Class
Raymond Frand Yeah college years should lasted longer. I remember it came on at night instead of saturday mornings.
@Raymond Frand the college years only lasted one season!!!??? I could have sworn it had more
Not going to lie, I was extremely pissed off when you cut off the Hill Street Blues theme. That shit hit me right in the nostalgia.
Speaking of, the same could be said of Capital Critters, and maybe even that lion show.
I was 10 or 11 when Automan was on TV. Loved it back then, but looking back on it now, it was pretty awful.
RIP Margot Kidder
Brad Hominem The best Lois Lane...
Absolutely.
1sotrue Without a doubt.
ha ha Thanos saw that show!!!
"Homeboys in Outer Space" comes to mind as a horrible show that didn't need to greenlit.
'Wet Dream' by Kip Adotta must have inspired the Fish Police cartoon.
Inhumans was cancelled children. It's gone !
I remember Capitol Critters! I think Neil Patrick Harris did the voice for the main character
Cop Rock wasn't as bad as people remember, we just get it on DVD. If this was made today after Glee etc then things would have turned out very differently.
Cop Rock? Law & Order meets Glee. Lol.
You guys should do more of these 'why the F did this ever exist?' stuff.
The 2 shows I liked were Don't Trust the Bitch in Apt #23 (w/ Krysten Ritter) and Happy Endings. 1 reason was Krysten Ritter and the other was that Happy Endings was a racially diversified version of Friends. I believe they got cancelled because they couldn't get enough sponsors - despite them being shows with potential if given more time. Same for Heroes with Ali Larter and Hayden Panettiere (when she was fine af).
Secret Diary also had the problem of people comparing it to Benson from the start. Once they saw the "humor" involved, there was no saving it in any way.
Whoa I remember that Siegfried and Roy Cartoon but I totally forgot about it until now.
I feel the fact that The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer pronounced the “P” in “Pfeiffer” should have been a warning sign about the quality of the show. I’ve heard that The Secret Diary of Desmond Pa-Fifer was intended to be a satire of the Clinton Administration (For instance, there was going to be an episode about “telegraph sex”). It’s like, “If you want to crack jokes about Bill Clinton, cool, we all are…but why bring slavery into it?!”
Some people claimed, “Father of the Pride only failed because Roy got hurt.” No, the show was just bad (My apologies to those who liked it)
this may or may not count, but in the UK they tried to do an English version of "Married... With Children". It bombed so hard, it was pulled after a couple of episodes. That's par for the course in the US, but they hardly ever cancel a show midway through the series here in the UK.
