"Mars" (Original Song)

- Inspired by Gustav Holst's orchestral suite "The Planets", I gave myself the challenge to compose an original song for each planet in our solar system.
Mars, the 4th planet from the Sun, has a prevalence of iron oxide on its surface. This gives it its blood red colour and is fittingly named after the Roman god of war. This aggressive dubstep song tries to capture the feel of a new comrade entering war with its patriotic duty, sudden dark turns, and lasting effects. Most of the sounds were synthesized by time stretching, pitch shifting, and applying distortion effects to my voice and beatboxing.

~Notes~
Song lengths are logarithmic to the planet's orbital year, following the relationship: 10^(song length - 2.5min) = orbit in Earth years. I could not make the song lengths directly proportional to the orbit without Pluto's song being over 1000x longer than Mercury's. Planet tilts and shadows in the video are accurate in terms of how they appear in their plane of orbit oriented counter-clockwise. Planets make the name number of revolutions in a year (relative to the fixed stars) in the video for Mercury and Venus, and the logarithm of that for the rest of the planets. The relative sizes of the planets are only approximated between videos.
