U missed all the characters from their name in previous movies u watched,I was surprised.do u think nightcrawler from x men 2 is some how related to the one in this film that teleports too
funfact: Micheal Fassbender spent two years in germany as a child with his grandparents so his german is actually really, really good. the other german is okay but he sounds native/very close to native. i always loved him speaking german, he has such a nice voicr
"I agree with everything you said, but you killed my mother." He was at the mercy of men following orders, then grew up to be the one giving the orders.
That scene in the Argentinian bar is one of my favourites in the entire X-Men franchise, if not cinema as a whole. The sheer ratcheting tension as those goddamn animals realise he's onto them, the VERY slightly unhinged cheerfulness in Erik in places that make him look the kind of angry that can put a fist through a plank, the slow beer-drinking together when they come to understand what he knew when he walked in - that there's going to be a murder in this room. And of course the rewatch bonus of the barman having a German pistol. It's just freaking masterful. The music underscores it perfectly.
As an Argentinian I love that scene, flaws and all (Villa Gesell doesn't have mountains and cabrón is more from Spain) The tension during their conversation at the table is glorious
And you KNEW that that sip of beer they all took... that was 2 dead men taking their last drink on this earth. I think every guy in the theatre, including me was leaning forward, teeth bared in a SAVAGE smile. Oh so satisfying !
I love this movie. It still holds up a decade later and might just be my favorite of the X-Men movies after Logan. Michael Fassbender and James MacAvoy were perfect as a young Magneto and Professor X. Kevin Bacon was also amazing as Sebastian Shaw. He’s honestly my favorite villain from the series and a super underrated comic book movie villain. Really looking forward to you watching the other X-Men movies.
I always felt it was extremely overrated and primarily carried by the cast. The writing was half great, half abysmal. I still think a complete reboot with the _actual_ first class roster (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Angel, Iceman) would've been far better. Fox was scared and tried to have it both ways with this decent kind-of-reboot-but-not-really thing they tried with First Class... before needing to _attempt_ immediately after to correct the continuity mistakes that even this movie added.
Vicki: " I can't believe she was wearing thigh highs and garters just, like, under her clothes" Me: Sometimes I forget how young Vicki is... That's what they were designed to do... hold the thigh-highs up under the clothes... before elastic was invented to hold them up.
Elastic was invented in 1845. They definitely had it in the 1960s. Garter belts exist because elastic has an annoying tendency to just roll down when it's on a human thigh. But yeah, you're right that it's funny when people think that such things were invented just to be "sexy" or decorative.
This movie displays the best X-Men team we've seen onscreen. There was training, building relationships, so much of an emotional journey. Which is why this is my favorite X-Men movie Imagine if all of this was done with Cyclops, Jean, Storm, etc. It could've been amazing!
@@gerardoespinoza4335Well technically speaking, the brain has itself no pain receptors. So the brain canr feel pain caused to itself. So maybe Charles could feel Shaw's death but Shaw himself couldn't.
Michael Fassbender as young Magneto out for revenge was perfect. (As was his theme music) At the time, they were originally gonna do a series of X-Men Origins movies, including Magneto; but I guess after the reception of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, they decided to give up on the idea and integrate it into an X-Men movie instead. Which is ironic, because if it was like this, people would have loved an entire movie about Magneto.
Yeah, some of the script from the Magneto Origins movie were applied to First Class where he was portrayed as a Nazi Hunter... Like DUDE!!! I wanna see a movie with Magneto hunting Nazis!
After the 'origins' franchise attempt tanked, First Class was a sleeper hit that helped put the franchise back on track. Thanks a lot in part to McAvoy and Fassbender effortlessly stepping into Stewart and McKellen's younger shoes, but it was a strong cast and a strong origin story for the original squad
First Class was great and then Days of Future Past came and everyone thought X-Men was going to get the main spot in the superhero battle of that time... sadly Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix didn't get the audience and critics' approval
This is one of my all-time favorite comicbook movies. The thing about this movie that I like best is the relationship between Charles and Erik. To me Fassbender brings so much depth and emotion to Magneto. Also in the early X-Men comics Magneto was just another villain. No big deal. Then in the 1970s Chris Claremont started writing the X-Men comic and he did wonderful things with Magneto's character.
VKunia: "The bad boys win, but they are not good people" Vkunia less than a minute later after Wolverine's bad boy line: "I love him. I love him so much!"
@@buttthecat1354 I am and she barely does and its not men in general, its a type of man and its usually in romantic situations and she is a straight female
The scene with wolverine, hugh actually improvised the line, micheal and james turning and heading back so they could reshoot the scene, but the director loved it and kept it in the movie
FYI, if you have time, watch some videos about the mutant Darwin. He is actually almost completely unkillable because he adapts instantly to whatever is trying to kill him. In this movie, Darwin should not have died, he should have just automatically inherited one of the Summers brothers immunity to that power and believe it or not, it still would probably not even be in the top 10 of the craziest things he's survived.
Love this move, only thing I hate is how they killed off Darwin, but makes sense, since he's kinda a op character. In the comics he literally adapted to survive the god of death by become a god of death himself.
Yeah but that's actually why it doesn't make sense that he died. But if these series continued they could have always brought him back like him adapting to put himself back together from atoms like dr manhattan from watchmen.
My personal favourite was during World War Hulk when the Hulk was rampaging through the Xavier Mansion and Darwin's powers just gave him teleportation and noped his ass right outta there lol
Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are world class actors who turned in FLAWLESS performances as Professor X and Magneto... I remember hearing about this movie and thinking whoever they got was going to just suck in comparison..... man did they ever not. MacAvoy and Fassbender just crush these roles!
Magneto's arc in this movie is perfect. Well, less of an arc, more of a revealing that's just how he's been the whole time, but it's perfect regardless.
6:21 - NOPE! You are NOT overthinking it. You heard what you heard and you saw what you saw and it immediately clicked for a second but backed away. That shot is how his character is introduced in BOTH time periods, with THAT record playing.
I went into this film the same way. I saw that no one from the original trilogy was in it and didn’t wanna give it a chance. Then got blown away by Fassbender and McAvoy as the young Eric and Charles.
The character of Moira was actually in X men 3. She was the doctor attending the brain dead patient who Charles transferres his consciousness to Technically you saw a version of Emma Frost in Origins. Kayla’s sister, who _was_ named Emma and could turn to diamond, but she didn’t have the telepathy Also, Alex is Cyclops’s brother
The true first class of X-Men [Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, Angel, and Marvel Girl (Jean Grey)] only appeared in a single movie, though never as a group. Cameos by Stan Lee and Chris Claremont. X3 The Last Stand.
As big a fan I am of the first X men movie. I love this one just as much. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender portraying younger versions of Professor X and Magneto nail their roles.
Good casting, direction, or writing will take you far, but combined, you get magic. This is easily the most competent of all the X-films. I wish they'd kept this team together for at least some of the other movies.
THE STUDIO CHANGED EVERYTHING UP DELIBERATELY DESPITE THIS MOVIE. IT WAS IN THE MEDIA AND DATS WHEN I KNEW THAT EVERYTHING AFTER THAT POINT ON, IS GOING TO BE NOTHING MORE THAN ANOTHER PR DRIVEN SHIT. NOT ANY KIND OF ACTUAL MOVIE .😑😒
How could that possibly be true? Is it not a crucial part of a prequel that it connects to the original films? This movie couldn't have done a worse job at that if it actively tried.
@@chand911 I haven’t even seen it since the theater in 2011. And I totally don’t remember January Jones being in it. Which is weird because I normally remember things like that. But honestly, it’s just a movie that kind of “came and went” 🤷♂️
@aarswft: I absolutely DOES connect to the original trilogy. We see the origin of Magneto's helmet, find out why Professor X is in a wheelchair, and get an explanation for why Mystique is naked all the time. We also see the origins of Beast's blue appearance, and the opening sequence of the film is near identical to the start of X-Men 1. The fact that the cast are different, and it takes place much earlier in the timeline is equally true of Star Wars Episode I, another prequel.
@@Rocket1377 but Phantom Menace was hated by most people. Alot of people thought it was unnecessary. Fans only really wanted to see how Anakin became Darth Vader… Revenge of the Sith (Episode 3) was really the only movie that everybody wanted to see from the prequel trilogy… the first 2 episodes were unnecessary
@@Rocket1377you’re so very wrong. -Magneto’s helmet? At the start of the first Xmen, the conversation between Charles and Eric indicate that the helmet is new and Charles had no idea. -Why Charles is is a wheelchair? Then why is he walking perfectly fine during the flashback of when they recruit Jean, which takes places over 2 decades after this movie … Also: -Timeline wise, it’s very unlikely that Alex is 25-30 years older than Scott , seeing as they are supposed to be brothers -Moira appears to be only 10 years older when we see her in The last Stand, but it’s actually almost 40 years later -Emma first was a grown woman in the 60’s but a teen in Xmen origins wolverine? 🤨 By itself, First class is a great movie, but it’s honestly horrible as a prequel, it’s screws up so much continuity
I really do like this film but Darwin was done dirty and the whole camera cutting to him when they mention "Slave" was just pretty on the nose and not pulled off well at all. Darwin simply cannot die as his body automatically adapts to any situation or environment making it impossible to kill him without an extremally powerful source of power like infinity Stone levels. It's the fun of his character to see how his body adapts to a situation from simply teleporting away to turning into a God of Death it's just imposable for him to die like we see in this film. But I still enjoy this movie even with the weak writing in some aspects both Michael Fassbender and James MacAvoy carry the film. Love how they showcased Charles as being a dick something we don't really see in the original movies even though comic Charles is an asshole at times. Days of Future Past is much better both from a narrative and writing standpoint while The Wolverine is pretty good as well. The other movies fall apart pretty fast but thankfully Deadpool 1 & 2 along with Logan are amazing. Haven't watched The New Mutants show but heard it's pretty meh releasing at a time when Disney were buying Fox so they kind of didn't put much effort into it. This is the same case for the later X-Men movies as well. Sebastian Shaw is a cool villain but he isn't really Sebastian Shaw in this film but a mix of Marvel characters. Maybe because of film rights etc but I do believe they were going to use Mr. Sinister for this film but couldn't or decided to keep him for a future film. Shaw in this film does dive off massive Mr. Sinister vibes, also a Nazi scientist so of course big Arnim Zola vibes who showed up Captain America The First Avenger and as a computer AI in Winter Solider. The main story of this movie is pretty much the plan of the Mutant Master from 1967 who once nearly started a nuclear war between America and Russia so he could take over once they decided each other. Pretty much the plot of this film and even featured the original First Class members. Another aspect I did like is how campy this movie can be at times really pulling from the 1960s First Class comic. The original First Class members in the comic was a little different featuring Angel Marvel Girl who was Jean Grey Cyclops, Iceman and Beast who was in this movie. The characters you're more aware of like Wolverine, Storm etc they were introduced in the 1970s roster with each decade new members were introduced for example the New Mutants comics from the 1980s which were extremally popular and introduced characters like Deadpool and Cable. New Mutants are amazing and heavily inspired the 1990s Cartoon along with comic's releasing in the 1990s. Hopefully the MCU does a good job at pulling off X-Men hopefully in more comic accurate outfits rather than the Black leather we got in the original films. Do like the Yellow and Blue outfits in this film that are pulled from the comic but so far we still have to see really good X-Men outfits with Deadpool just having the best.
Darwin and Emma both got screwed by the adaptation. The movie may have had the power set, but there's a reason Emma is the White QUEEN. January Jones simply doesn't have the commanding, arrogant, and cruel charisma that Emma requires.
Quick Recommendations: The pretty much almost all the next X-men affiliated movies have post credits scenes. Also, when you reach "Days of Future's Past" I HIGHLY recommend watching the "Rogue Cut" version.
Everyone think each movie got worse over time. But I enjoyed them all. But I will say the new cast of First Class and the next ones really fun to watch. I am so curious how X-Men will come to the MCU. I imagine its all new stories instead of keeping the Fox movies as canon.
To me, when Charles says the men on the ships are "just following orders" to a survivor of the Holocaust, it shows that despite his good intentions and principled instruction, there's a cluelessness in his idealism. He simply does not understand cruelty in the world. Erik has lived through that cruelty. But when he says "never again", he is closing off any possibility of co-existence of mutants and non-mutants, putting both sides on a course of mutual destruction. Their friendship crumbles because of their irreconcilable convictions.
@RM: No, because to enjoy/understand those movies you have to watch the other entries in the series first. First Class works better as a stand alone film.
As much as you were surprised that Moira had stockings and a garter belt under her normal clothes, that was actually the norm at the time. This movie is set in 1962, which is only 3 years after pantyhose were even introduced. It took a long time before that became the norm and the garter belt was relegated almost exclusively to 'sexywear' rather than 'every day'.
I remember thinking Moria’s underwear was weird, but also remember thinking the 60s were weird so who knows what women wore back then, well I suppose a woman who lived in the sixties, but none of them were around
Your bafflement at Moira's undergarments is so cute! They're period-appropriate - pantyhose and tights were not common everyday wear until the mid- to late-1960s and then only when miniskirts really came into vogue. Many women still wore girdles or garter belts and stockings well into the early 1970s because they found pantyhose to be uncomfortable. (And if you got a run, you had to replace the entire pair instead of just one stocking.) My own mom didn't wear pantyhose until the mid-70s because she hated them.
I remember seeing this movie in theaters during a culinary camp I went to the summer before I started college! I also didn't know much about it going into it and was blown away by how much I liked it. The casting really was spot on. The X-Men franchise has its ups and downs, but First Class is definitely a good one!
Magneto will always be my favorite Marvel villain. Especially as someone who comes from a people who were also brutally persecuted by the Nazis, I fully understand his rage, his grief, and mistrust. I even find myself siding with him at times, because he doesn't lie. And although his means are never justified, it's so easy to think like him and he voices what persecuted people feel and think. He's so complex, multi-level and dimensional. Honestly at times you feel the urge to root for him.
Even though the story and timelines really don't jive, which a lot of the MCU movies are infamous for, it fills in a lot of the back stories. Even the yellow suits are a great throw-back to the original comic books. It is really good, especially the casting. It's hard to not give away any spoilers especially for "X-Men Days of Future Past".
The only thing I regret about this movie is that they didn't use Magneto's musical theme in the next ones 😁 It was so good and so in-character, and overall this movie has got the best original soundtrack in my opinion. I don't dislike the previous theme by John Ottman (reprised in Days of Future Past and Apocalypse) but I totally prefer this by Henry Jackman.
6:08 In the 60s, stockings and a garter belt were still "standard" underwear for women. Pantyhose were introduced to the world until 1959 and they didn't become truly popular until the mid- to late 60s, and even then it was mostly with younger women who wanted them to wear with mini skirts, because a mini didn't hide the garter straps. Pantyhose didn't fully replace stockings and garter belts until the late 60s/early 70s when it became more economical to buy hose, at which point stockings with garter belts became more of a "luxury buy" relegated to high-end lingerie stores.
11:39 In the comics Beast's mutation was that he had big hands and feet and was really athletic. He turned into his blue furred form when he drank a chemical he created that some people planned to steal.
There are so many comments I could be making right now, but I don't feel like typing them all on my phone. lol These characters sometimes/almost feel separated a bit from their counterparts in the future for me. And I don't mean that in a bad way. It's hard to describe. Two more things I will say right now: 1) X-Men: First Class is my very favorite X-Men movie. 2) Erik Lehnsherr is in my Top Five Favorite Characters of All Time. ❤🖤
I realize this is these characters much earlier so of course they are different, but that's not exactly what I mean. Like I said, it's hard to articulate.
You'll notice going forward that the series centers mainly around Mystique. Why? Because she's Jennifer Lawrence. You'll also notice that she tends to be her human self more than her blue self. Why? Because she's Jennifer Lawrence! (And Jennifer Lawrence hates wearing the Mystique makeup). When she signed on to do these movies she wasn't famous yet but once she became a star the writers adjusted the scripts accordingly to focus more on her and therefore sell more tickets
That bar scene is my favorite. How has Michael Fassbender done not one but TWO super tense scenes set in a bar where he speaks German to Nazi officers, and it’s revealed he is actually on a mission to kill nazis. (The Inglorious Basterds scene was a bit more masterfully done, but comparing a Tarantino film to a superhero film isn’t a particularly fair comparison).
I'm so glad you like this one, underrated in my opinion, and Days of Future Past is even better, the best of the main X-Men movies imo (not counting Logan or Deadpool)
Not only is this my favorite X-men movie, but it is a top 10 favorite movie of mine. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are perfect as Charles and Eric and brilliant character stories they juxtaposing these men is amazing.
You're absolutely right, Charles has always cared about other people.. one of the reasons why is because his power is to enter someone's mind and effectively BE that person.. he feels other people's emotions and shares their thoughts.. he cares about other people's well being because he's capable of BEING them.. Also, you're also right about Eric adopting some of Shaws characteristics and personality.. as Eric himself said, he's Frankensteins monster and Shaw was his creator.. Shaw made Eric the monster that he is, and he knows it..
Hey, Vicky! Matthew Vaughn not only captured the '60's era but integrated real history into X-Men lore. The historical context, the back stories and the casting were phenomenal! The franchise was moribund after the lackluster third entry and the Wolverine origin movie but this film injected fresh energy and blood into the franchise. It still veered dramatically from comic book accuracy despite the Grant Morrison-style uniforms and Nazi hunting sequences but it capitalized, as all X movies do, on the powerful duality of Charles and Erik. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are as amazing as Charles and Erik as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were! Red demon guy Azazel is Nightcrawler's father! Although nothing like his character in the comics, Kevin Bacon is a vicious villain in this. I liked Oliver Platt's sympathetic character and felt terrible he had such a small role to play. Anything kitschy was deliberate and the acknowledgement of the first trilogy with cameos by Rebecca Romijn and Hugh Jackman was a real treat. Emma Frost was a real let-down although it was through no fault of January Jones. The origins of these characters and the schism between them is absolutely fascinating. This is the only movie that is the same in all three X-Men timelines and is the chronological starting point for the whole cinematic X-Men universe. There is no X-Men movie that doesn't entertain on some level including the duds. This is one of the richer ones. This one is good, but IMO the next one is even better. That said, Fasbender's Irish accent is so obvious that you'd think he's playing Michael Collins instead of Magneto 🤣 Once that Sansa gal shows up to play Jean Grey in later movies, it feels like Fasbender and her have a competition as to who has the most fake accent 🤪
God your reaction is exactly what I love seeing, a couple friends and my wife all had the same thoughts like oh another xmen and after just floored at how good of a job it turned out to be. Cheers girl
From this point on, ignore what happened in every other xmen movie, unless the movie you're currently watching references that event specifically. Not even the movie, just the event. This also goes for every movie you watch. Not just the previous 3. For each movie, ignore what happened in all the others.
James McEvoy and Michael Fassbender we’re both in Band of Brothers, if you recall. McEvoy was James Miller in ep 4x and Fassbender was Burton “Pat” Christenson in eps 1 and 5-10.
Loved this movie for the way it gives you their origins and answers a lot of questions from the earlier movies. Great casting with Fassbender and McAvoy.
In the comics Moria is Scottish. She becomes a doctor that studies mutants because has a son that is a mutant who can temporarily shape reality and is a telapath. Riptide is making the tornadoes. Azazel is the teleporter.
I do believe that is in fact the same mansion yes, its been used in quite a few films! Couldn't tell you which but its definitely a popular filming spot.
Submechanophobia Submechanophobia (from Latin sub 'under'; and from Ancient Greek μηχανή (mechané) 'machine' and φόβος (phóbos) 'fear') is a fear of submerged human-made objects, either partially or entirely underwater.[1][2] These objects could be shipwrecks, statues, animatronics as seen in theme parks, or old buildings, but also more mundane items such as buoys and miscellaneous debris.
Ahh, yes - something the X-Men "prequels" (it's not technically an accurate term) are absolutely excellent at is how they make use of their one allowed F-bomb. Not gonna lie, the one in First Class is EASILY the best, but the one in the next one isn't so bad, either, it's used with a much darker connotation. :-)
Oddly enough, this is similar to the actual start of the X-Men comic, except Magneto was already a villain, and Mystique wouldn't show up until the 1980s. The original X-Men were Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Angel, and Beast. And as in the movie Hank at first appeared fairly normal.
Glad you enjoyed this movie! My ultimate regret was missing out a few X-Men movies in theaters (including this one). I enjoy this movie along with the first two X-Men and the others you’ll react to soon! I can’t stop laughing at 28:17! I’ve watch this movie a couple times and that statement never crossed my mind! (≧∀≦)
@6:25, in the 1960s thigh highs and a garter were considered normal foundation clothing for a proper lady to wear. Back in those days people really put on a lot of layers just to be out and about.
Mystique is the worst sister ever in this movie… Charles: Help! I’ve been critically injured and I can’t feel my legs, I may be paralyzed for the rest of my life! Raven: Oh no… well I’m gonna go be a villain now with Magento and abandon you in your most vulnerable and lowest moment, literally while the bullet is still inside you… Byeeeee… Like way to pick your moments there Raven lol While I do have my issues with this movie, is it is definitely a fun and interesting entry in the series
This is a reboot/prequel to the X-Men movies. Although they do give a lot of backstory to some of the characters, it very loosely ties in to the original trilogy. By its 4th installment, the timeline might as well be its own thing unrelated to the original 2000s trilogy of X-Men movies. First Class and Days of Future Past are the only ones you should consider watching out of them, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix are a dumb mess not worth bothering with. I'd honestly go First Class, Days of Future Past then Deadpool 1 and 2, then finish it off with Logan.
I am also a submechanophobe - I struggle with movie scenes involving the juxtoposition of swimmers and submerged vehicles like this one and the plane sinking beneath Tom Hanks in Cast Away.

X-Men: First Class, hands down is one of the best in the series.
Definitely up there with Logan and Days of Future Past for me.
Same. You have the same top 3 as me. Personally for me, apocalypse is number 4
Magneto’s music theme is God tier, can’t get enough of it
This is one of my all-time favorite comicbook movies.
Hugh Jackman gets the award for perhaps the best cameo in cinematic history.
There's an alternate scene of where Charles and Eric are recruiting Angel, where Charles shows of his powers too. Worth checking out.
VKunia: "The bad boys win, but they are not good people"
Vkunia less than a minute later after Wolverine's bad boy line: "I love him. I love him so much!"
The amount of man hating from her is so juvenile.
Every 2 minutes she has something derogatory to say about men.
Someone give her a red pill quick!
@@buttthecat1354 what?
@@minerpvpgaming2160 Yup. Pay attention.
@@buttthecat1354 I am and she barely does and its not men in general, its a type of man and its usually in romantic situations and she is a straight female
@@minerpvpgaming2160 not paying close enough attention.
What does:
"And she is a girl" supposed to mean?
Isn't that quite presumptuous of you?
1. Wolverine's cameo was hilarious.
2. nothing unites two nuclear powers like a common enemy and that common enemy is Mutants.
14:39
She was the doctor attending the brain dead patient who Charles transferres his consciousness to
Technically you saw a version of Emma Frost in Origins. Kayla’s sister, who _was_ named Emma and could turn to diamond, but she didn’t have the telepathy
Also, Alex is Cyclops’s brother
The true first class of X-Men [Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, Angel, and Marvel Girl (Jean Grey)] only appeared in a single movie, though never as a group. Cameos by Stan Lee and Chris Claremont. X3 The Last Stand.
Honestly, this wasn't Emma Frost, either. Sure, she had the powers, but not the attitude. And that attitude is 99% of the White Queen.
Wolverine's cameo was classic!
Hugh Jackman did it just so he could curse them out.
magneto and Xavier scene on the memories stuff is soooo good, top notch
The short scene with Wolverine "Go f*** yourself" was just pure Gold.
This is by far one of the best prequel movie ever made, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender plays a great young Professor X and Magneto
@aarswft:
I absolutely DOES connect to the original trilogy.
Then why is he walking perfectly fine during the flashback of when they recruit Jean, which takes places over 2 decades after this movie …
Also:
-Timeline wise, it’s very unlikely that Alex is 25-30 years older than Scott , seeing as they are supposed to be brothers
-Moira appears to be only 10 years older when we see her in The last Stand, but it’s actually almost 40 years later
-Emma first was a grown woman in the 60’s but a teen in Xmen origins wolverine? 🤨
By itself, First class is a great movie, but it’s honestly horrible as a prequel, it’s screws up so much continuity
I really hate this movie. The effects are lousy. Also the timeline is just stupid reaching this point and gets worse
Absolutely spot on. They might as well had not even put Darwin in the movie. It would have been much better than shafting him like this.
Quick Recommendations:
The pretty much almost all the next X-men affiliated movies have post credits scenes.
Also, when you reach "Days of Future's Past" I HIGHLY recommend watching the "Rogue Cut" version.
The dialogue of this film is too much good and acting performance of micheal fassbender is top notch ❤❤❤ and music is also brilliant
Beast was an original 1960's X-Men character. He didn't turn blue until he joined the Avengers in the 70's.
Hank turned blue in AMAZING ADVENTURES #11 in 1972, published two years before he joined the Avengers.
Erik is acting like Nazi he hates. It's like how Zionism act like Nazism today.
Eric : "We will show ours if you show us yours..."

Best movie of the franchise, the most close to the comics, casting of young Charles and Magneto, spot on
@Kal-El fan 49 X-Men 2 (2003) and X-Men Days of future Past the Rogue cut are still better
@RM:
No, because to enjoy/understand those movies you have to watch the other entries in the series first. First Class works better as a stand alone film.
That moment with the satellite. James and Michale..... They just killed it.
Also, just to be clear as I don't know that my previous tone conveyed it properly, still love your reactions. Keep up the great work.
I enjoy re-watching these movies through your lens. Keep them coming!
I remember seeing this movie in theaters during a culinary camp I went to the summer before I started college! I also didn't know much about it going into it and was blown away by how much I liked it. The casting really was spot on. The X-Men franchise has its ups and downs, but First Class is definitely a good one!
James McAvoy is also in IT Chapter 1&2. Also you need to watch those movies since October is coming up.
I don't think he's in Chapter One. His character was just a kid in that one. The adult versions of those characters hadn't been cast yet
@@PlumbPitiful I know. I just want to keep my sentences short.
He's in my top 5 favorite characters of all time.
Hyped for DoFP but make sure you do the Rogue Cut! Other reactors have made the mistake of watching the theatrical.
Darwin dying to a pellet of kinetic energy is the single most frustrating moment in all of xmen I swear
I'm all for bringing back garters and stockings for ladies everyday outfits. But seriously I love this version of Charles and Eric!
11:39 In the comics Beast's mutation was that he had big hands and feet and was really athletic. He turned into his blue furred form when he drank a chemical he created that some people planned to steal.
There are so many comments I could be making right now, but I don't feel like typing them all on my phone. lol
These characters sometimes/almost feel separated a bit from their counterparts in the future for me. And I don't mean that in a bad way. It's hard to describe.
Two more things I will say right now:
1) X-Men: First Class is my very favorite X-Men movie.
2) Erik Lehnsherr is in my Top Five Favorite Characters of All Time. ❤🖤
I realize this is these characters much earlier so of course they are different, but that's not exactly what I mean. Like I said, it's hard to articulate.
We love the *Magneto* theme song in this film
You'll notice going forward that the series centers mainly around Mystique. Why? Because she's Jennifer Lawrence. You'll also notice that she tends to be her human self more than her blue self. Why? Because she's Jennifer Lawrence! (And Jennifer Lawrence hates wearing the Mystique makeup). When she signed on to do these movies she wasn't famous yet but once she became a star the writers adjusted the scripts accordingly to focus more on her and therefore sell more tickets
The X-Men franchise had some amazing movies, and a few that I struggled to sit through to the end, but this was definitely a good one! 😊👍
Disagree, X-Men dark Phoenix is still better than bad MCU movies

I wonder if she has red hair on.... Never mind Hell yes for me to either way
Moira is the one involved in the post credit scene in last stand after Charles was actually still alive. He restores her memories so she knows.

X2, X-men first class and days of future past. These are easily class apart.
In the comics Beast has been trying to cure himself for decades and every time he tries he ends up making his mutation worse.
I highly recommend watching OSP One X-Cellent scene about this movie, it goes into so much detail about Magneto that i wouldnt have ever considered
Charles could’ve let go of Shaw at any time, but even though it felt like the coin was going through HIS head, he never let go.
Loved this movie for the way it gives you their origins and answers a lot of questions from the earlier movies. Great casting with Fassbender and McAvoy.
McAvoy and Fassbender are the best parts of these first class movies whether the quality is good or not both of them always bring their A game
'Needles and feet. My two worst things.' Priceless.
"I've been at the mercy of men just following orders."
Great reaction. Definitely one of the best if not the best X-Men movies.
Submechanophobia
Submechanophobia (from Latin sub 'under'; and from Ancient Greek μηχανή (mechané) 'machine' and φόβος (phóbos) 'fear') is a fear of submerged human-made objects, either partially or entirely underwater.[1][2] These objects could be shipwrecks, statues, animatronics as seen in theme parks, or old buildings, but also more mundane items such as buoys and miscellaneous debris.
Bruh Charles really thought “they were just following orders” would be a good line to use on a Holocaust survivor
When Eric says "maybe in a few years" she turns into the actress/model who played the original Mystique.
Mystique is the worst sister ever in this movie…
Charles: Help! I’ve been critically injured and I can’t feel my legs, I may be paralyzed for the rest of my life!
Raven: Oh no… well I’m gonna go be a villain now with Magento and abandon you in your most vulnerable and lowest moment, literally while the bullet is still inside you… Byeeeee…
Like way to pick your moments there Raven lol
While I do have my issues with this movie, is it is definitely a fun and interesting entry in the series
@Nova Cascade Nah, the two deadpool movies are not linked to those of the x-men
Can't believe they went from this to the phoenix movie.
I am also a submechanophobe - I struggle with movie scenes involving the juxtoposition of swimmers and submerged vehicles like this one and the plane sinking beneath Tom Hanks in Cast Away.
I just lost my 3 legged cat to heart disease thank you for sharing your videos to help some of us get through our day
