The Kinii represents Obicua’s latest endeavor in Salt Lake City, nestled within the prestigious Powder Mountain ski haven.
The appellation "Kinii," derived from the ancient native tongue, translates to "the falcon's nest." This moniker aptly reflects the villa's lofty perch at nearly 3,000 meters, offering expansive vistas across three American states.
With a vision to celebrate the natural splendor of the terrain, we crafted an edifice that harmonizes with the landscape, leaving it unblemished.
This villa's conception was not merely architectural but an artistic venture, embodying the pinnacle of "Made in Italy" craftsmanship brought to American soil.
Adhering to our studio's ethos, the villa was meticulously constructed to honor its environs. We believe in designing architectural masterpieces that are inextricably linked to the historical and artistic milieu of their location.
Thus, "The Kinii" was designed following the stringent protocols of the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, a globally recognized standard employed in over 100 nations, aimed at reducing ecological footprints and preserving the local ecosystem.
Our non-intrusive methodology is reflected in the villa's compact volumes that retain warmth, and the minimized foundational footprint, ensuring minimal disturbance to the soil during construction.
Furthermore, the green roof was engineered to enhance external insulation, with the building's form naturally contouring the land, creating various scenic terraces sheltered from icy gusts and ultraviolet rays.
The result is an aesthetically stunning structure that simultaneously honors environmental integrity.
The villa's interiors are bifurcated into two distinct sections: one for guests and younger inhabitants, and another for the owners. This dichotomy includes a triple living area that unifies both sections.
Situated on the southern aspect, this central space connects the living rooms with the sleeping quarters via a corridor featuring an open staircase.
The interior cladding, composed of American red cedar, evokes a cozy ambiance while also emphasizing environmental principles.
