While my English pronunciation is slightly different from what was demonstrated in this video (in Scotland we tend not to omit the letter 'r' quite as often as our friends South of the border), there was one word that really surprised me - Wednesday. If I say it quickly it does sound very similar to the two presenters in the video, but I definitely do not omit the first 'd' or turn it into a 2 syllable word - what I actually do is effectively change the 'nes' to 'ens' to get Wed-ens-day or, perhaps, Wed-ns-day. Thanks so much, Eva.
English is weird. Why do you write "Wednesday" if you're gonna pronounce it like wenzdei.
Hi Bubnova. I agree, it is weird and I have no idea why we do this I'm afraid.
It's like a fast speaking of Wednesday. Try to speak "wed-nes-day" fast it would sound "wendzday".
English isn't a language that makes much sense. The word "Wednesday" isn't the only exception - the whole language is riddled with them.
I think we're all enjoy being pretentious in Britain. Wednesday looks so much nicer than Wenzdei. Then again, I just don't like the letter z.
I don’t see any problems with it
I'm from Colombia and I'm trying to speak English, I can not go to a language school and I look for teachers on RUclips. and luckily of life I found you two.
We're very glad you have found us, Helena. Welcome to our channel!
Just so you know, you should say "luckily I found you two" instead of "luckily of life I found you two".
Helena Alarcon ya no llores!!! 😜 😜
I literally have no idea why it was recommended, but I don’t mind it
Hi Petra. We're never sure why the RUclips algorithm recommends our videos to people, but we're awfully glad it recommended us to you. Simple English Videos is a channel devoted to helping people learn or improve their English language skills. And many of our subscribers are actually native English speakers from around the world, along with thousands of non-native speakers. So cute lol
:-)
Why am I watching this.
I only know how to speak English.
Ha! We have no idea either Papa Swolin, but we're glad you watched and hope you enjoyed it.
English is not my first language but I pronounce all the words correctly! 😂
Wait do these guys really pronounce wrong cuz they're just basic words?
How difficult it is often depends on your first language. What's your first language Aashima?
Simple English Videos it's Hindi
Nice to meet you.
@@SimpleEnglishVideos nice to meet you too ❤
weird flex but okay
I'm from Worcestershire, and my shire is pronounced 'shuh' not 'sheer'. Wus-tuh-shuh.
Also written on a short road sign ' W'ster '' gets the job done in a lot less letters :)
Oh great comment! Thanks for adding this sameoldmatt and greetings to you in W'ster. :-)
I'm from Worcester, MA (USA). It just doesn't sound like how it is spelled. Only the people from Worcester can pronounce it properly.
I'm not a native english speaker so I can only imagine what my english sounds like.. On top of that, I use both american and british words and pronunciation in my sentences. A way to confuse people haha. That's how it is here in Europe, though.
Ha! Hello Sophia. Vicki here and in our household we use both British and American, and sometimes we misunderstand one another. (Jay isn't very clear, in my opinion) But mostly we manage to get along just fine. We think it makes life more fun. Hope that's what you find too :-)
@@SimpleEnglishVideos Oh really! I guess that's understandable in your situation. Here where I live, my school taught me british english while I learned american english on my own from television, movies, books etc. I love the language, and even though it's not the first, or even a second or third language in my country, most people are pretty fluent in it. I love reading english books and watching my favorite shows without subtitles. I can't even remember the time when I didn't understand every single word that was said in television. I just love english, and british accent is the best in my opinion. So elegant.
Also, so sweet of you to still reply even though I'm super late and this has been uploaded some time now. So thank you! Thankfully RUclips recommended it to me haha!
We love hearing from our viewers Sophia - it truly is a pleasure - and we just love hearing how English and other languages are integrated into everyone's lives - or international communication in general. So thank you so much for filling us in and welcome to our channel!
“that’s not right!”
* *gives creepy smile* *
I have no idea why I'm watching this video - I'm a native English speaker! Hahaha. But I love the enthusiasm both presenters have.
P.s. British English is the best! ;)
Javi, thanks for watching and we're very glad you' have enjoyed the video. We have lots of native English speakers among our viewers and sometimes they find helpful hints, particularly in pronouncing difficult words. As for British English being the best, well, we'll have to talk some more about that!
Hello! I wonder if you clarify me, please, the British pronunciation for "Either" : )
disliked because american english is better
@@jacobrussia7963 Hi Jacob. We can pronounce this word is two ways in both British and American. Our friend Rachel has made a great video about it that you might like. ruclips.net/video/bopS20nazfU/видео.html
@xDest
I disliked your videos coz Brithis English is the best✌Thank me later😄😎
I’m 4 minutes into the video and I just realised this is for people who don’t speak English and that it’s not for me (someone fluent in English) but I still really enjoyed it
We just want to make sure you understand the premise of this video. Everyone in this video is a non-native speaker of English. English is their second, or third or even fourth language. We were very grateful for their participation in helping our learners understand difficult words to pronounce, and they were all such good sports in trying to pronounce words non-native speakers often have difficulty with. Simple English Videos is a channel devoted to helping people learn and improve their English. I hope that clears things up for you. Thanks for writing to us and thanks for watching our video.
My first language is English, so I don't even know why I'm here.
Ha! We have no idea why you're here either Emil, but we're delighted you are.
This makes me feel so educated 😂
Hi OBLITZER. The people you saw were actually all very well educated. They were not native English speakers, so English was their second, third or fourth language. They were relying on the spelling to guide them, and the English spelling system is not very logical.
Why was this in my recommendation???
We don't know Raggidyrumble97. The RUclips algorithm works in mysterious ways. We hope you enjoyed it nevertheless.
Simple English Videos tbh it was pretty interesting kinda oddly relaxing
only one question mark will do
@@raggidyrumble9732 it is to be honest and kind of
This is a good post for Filipino English-learners who are confused about which English they're supposed to be speaking or writing. If you study/studied English in the Philippines or the US, it's American English, not "British" or any other English dialects.
So glad you think it's useful yootuber2009. Thanks for writing. ;-)
Why is this in my recommendations wtf
Hi Josh. We're not sure why it was recommended, but we're glad you had a chance to see it. Thanks for watching.

This was also in my recommend
Hahahaha it’s so funny when you randomly say chocolate at 8:36 🤣
Ha! It's Jay ale loles. He goes out of control sometimes. :-)
Wtf RUclips why are you recommending me this
We have no idea why, boi. The RUclips algorithm works in mysterious ways. It sounds like you really didn't like it?
@@SimpleEnglishVideos It was clearly my mistake, I didn't specify how I feel about it.
It's a fun video, especially seeing europeans trying to pronounce english words xD But my point was, RUclips is drunk.
I was just confused since I speak eng fluently and I've never googled/searched anything about the English language.
So glad you liked it. :-) Thanks for writing back boi.

Glad it was helpful, Lisa. Thanks for watching.
How about pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis?
Ha! Love it! That would be so cruel Sigma. I think I might try it though. Those English learners are such good sports.
I really wanna see how people try to pronounce that..I bet they might even say it's not a real word..😂😂😂😂
It will be fun to see.

Try and say Edinburgh... most people call it Edinboorg when it's Edinbrah.

Nope.
