Hi Julia - Wow! I love these with the denim. So fun & whimsical looking. I’ve seen rag quilts but not rag bags. I actually have some fleece & flannel for the inner piece to make a rag quilt with. My Aunt makes them and they are so pretty. I just got some pretty 5” squares that I want to make a crossbody bag with and I may make it like this. I just love how these look. March is definitely going out like a lion here today. Rainy, cold & super windy. Snow showers tomorrow no joke!!! We had bad storms on Saturday. Lightening hit my outside phone box. Really scary. By the Grace of God nothing caught on fire including my house. It charred the insides of the box attached to my house. God definitely had His hands all around me. I hope your daughter done ok in the storms Saturday. We’ve had lots of flooding. I live on a hill so I’m blessed and no flooding up here. Enjoy the rest of your vacation. Thank you for all the inspiration you give me. You make the best things. Love & Hugs! 💕🧵🌸🪴🌼
Hi Pam, I am so behind on my comment-ugh! Happy belated Easter to you. Wow sounds like the good Lord was looking after you with that lightning storm. How scary. I bet it made a loud noise when it struck that box. My daughter made it though OK, Nashville got SO MUCH RAIN. We are back in MN where the sun rarely shines but it is good to be back. Spending time with our son and daughter-in-law at Easter was priceless. Have a great weekend! Julia
These are super cute! I make bags of all sorts but not one like this one thanks for the tutorial, however it should come with a warning ~Making these little bags can be addictive! :)
HI Karen, I am late in responding to this comment but I agree these are addicting! They are quick and easy except for the snipping. Put in a good movie and snip away!
Adorable!!! I have made some different kind of rag purses but never with the flap and Crossbody style and denim. I’ve done rag quilts also. Definitely going to try this thank you so much! 🥰🤗
These are so cute❤ I want to make a few of the shown size and a few with four squares across and four squares up and down. Maybe mom and daughter sets? Thank you for all your inspiration.
Hi Lori, I'm so behind on my comments- Happy Belated Easter! We are back in MN now - vacation is fun but it's always great getting home. Someone just commented on the video I did with your felted fiber and asked if you have a RUclips channel! Another thing to put on your list:)
Really great! I have so many pairs of hubby’s worn jeans and tons of different cotton scraps. Going to try it right away! Thanks so much, love every one of your videos.
Just like a rag quilt. All of them absolutely beautiful. My favorite is the gold one. Such a fast and easy project. Still collecting for your box. Nothing good on Monday, so hopefully will be filled by the end of April. Have a great Easter. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Kim, I am so behind on my comments but happy belated Easter to you! We are back in MN and enjoyed spending Easter with our son and daughter-in-law. It is always good to get home. Thank you so much for thinking about me and collecting for me. Your thoughtfulness means so much:)
@@stitchesbyjulia aww so sweet. I appreciate your videos, so in return I like to do this for you. I’m still collecting just waiting for more good stuff. I’m so glad you had a wonderful trip. ❤️
Hi Sue, I'm so glad you like it! I have to make more- they went together so easy. The hardest part was all the snipping! Enjoy and thanks so much for supporting my small business:) Julia
Hi Julia, another great up cycle project. I did similar ones with 3 different color jeans and the center portion was cut in X's with color back grounds 6 total. They are great bags. TFS!
Hi, I will have to make a video on this. I used to add clay buttons to all my sweatshirt jackets and discovered that covering old buttons with clay gave them so much more strength. Each button is unique and so handmade looking!
Love your rag bags! You have so many good ideas. Are you making a list of things that you wish you had brought with you for your winter break? (like those special scissors?) I would diligently make a list, then, when the time came, I will have lost the list! LOL
Hi Phyllis, I am so behind on these comment- I hope you had a good Easter. Yes I made a list of things I didn't bring and kicked myself because of it! Also a list of things to leave behind :) Snipping these bags were a pain with out my sharp snippers! We are back in MN where the sun rarely shines:)
Hi, I will have to do a video on the buttons. I use a polymer clay and bake them. Covering old (ugly) buttons really gives them strength. I use to put them on my sweatshirt jackets that I sold at craft shows. I like the homespun, organic, look that the clay gives. Thanks so much for watching, Julia
Wait a minute . So, u just stitched the strap onto the outside , so basically those few stitches on each strap outside of the bag is suppose to withhold any and all weight Thats being carried in the purse? Granted it’s a purse 👛 not a suitcase 🧳 but still! After awhile stitches do get loose etc & I’m just so surprised that’s the way, let alone the only way, you connected the straps to all those purses!!
That is the most amazing video that I have ever watched on RUclips! I plan to make some of these ! So cute !
I'm so glad this video inspired you. I hope you give it a try.
I love this! It appeals to my hippie soul! Can’t wait to make one! Thank you!
A great way to use up beautiful fabric scraps, many thanks for sharing.
I love this purse so much❤️. Julia you are so creative and sweet. Thank you for all your awesome videos. You inspire me.
Thank you so much!

BTW: do u have a vid uploaded showing how u made the buttons that you had mentioned in this vid? Thanks!
Curious about the buttons...fimo clay??? Air dry and then stamp?
By the way, too, cute cute!

Hi, is it easy to make this bag in a bigger size and what would I need to do, thanks?
Yes you could make it larger by increasing the number of squares. Possible do three across and three down.
How did you see the squares together
So I am confused when you sewed the pocket on in the inside didn't it show on the outside? If not how did you get it to not show?
Hi, The stitching from the pocket shows on the outside but you really have to look for them. All the fraying and and other stitching hides them.
💖
🙏🥰🙏
Why didn't you trim the back pocket of the Jeans Jeans so you could finish your inside off so it wouldn't fray away.
Wait a minute . So, u just stitched the strap onto the outside , so basically those few stitches on each strap outside of the bag is suppose to withhold any and all weight Thats being carried in the purse? Possibly add rivets to your bag if stitching is not secure enough.
