Awesome video! Yesterday I finished two jean purses following your example. I got the jeans at a thrift store. In my excitement I didn't noticed the top was an elastic waistband. I stitched the purse exactly like you do it. I added the lining following your pattern. I used a bias tape around the top before adding the strap. My stitches are wobbly and and I sewed my straps on a little crooked but all in all not bad for a first attempt. Thank you for sharing your videos and giving us inspiration!
Hi Sherrie, I am so thrilled that you gave a bag a try! What a great idea about the bias tape. I love being able to sew because we are so resourceful and can usually figure stuff out as we go along LOL! Happy sewing, Julia
I always like seeing your name pop up with a new video. I always know its going to be a good time. The thrifted jeans projects are awesome!! Thank you Julia for your time and inspiration. You're these best!
I love your videos you do them so well. Thanks so much for the tips I always learn something from you and I have been sewing for over 50 years. We made blue jean bags in the 70s and it was great fun. I'm going to try that zipper trick you demonstrate, thanks again! :)
Julia.. ur an amazing lady and I love ur style of creativity. I’ve done purposes and bracelets thanks to ur great ideas and frugality. I appreciate you very much and every I come on RUclips to c ur inspiration.. thank u so much..
How cool to be able to get SIX bags from just ONE pair of jeans!!! 🥰 If I brought all my jeans into my sewing room, I could be in there for 3 months straight making bags easily! 😆 Thank you again Julia for the endless creative ideas!!! ❤️ I'm also afraid of zippers!!! What a great way to get over THAT! Keep them coming! 🤗 Brenda
Hi Julia - These look so good! Love the way you used the bottom edge as the flap edge of your purse. I have found that when doing a zipper like that, I make sure it is longer than my purse and then center it over the opening. That way the metal ends on both ends of the zipper is not being used. Open up the zipper before you sew. I just don’t like having either metal end so this avoids that. Hope you are enjoying the warm sunny days! It’s cold and rainy here. Rained for 3 days in a row and all day. So ready for warm sunny days. Hugs! 💕☀️🧵
Hi Pam, Thank you so much for the zipper tip!! I knew there had to be an easier way! I'll soak up some sun for you! Spring will be here for all soon. Hugs, Julia
I made a bag with the zippered pocket today. Everyone: believe Julia! Don't be afraid of zippers! But do get the double sided adhesive tape. It really helps.
Again, Awesome! Very creative! I’m still intimidated by zippers but I’d like to try this, you make it look so easy. Thank you for sharing and inspiring :)
When I started sewing ( a million years ago-LOL) we had to sew a zipper in the back of a dress for Home Ec class. It was a big fail for me! It took me along time to try again!
Just had my husband clean out his closet while watching your video. He brought me two pairs. Yay! Something to add to the to-do list. Thank you, Julia! - Also, do you have a P.O. Box so I can send you some sewing goodies I have, but haven’t used?
Hi Robin, We are finally somewhere! We'll be at this address for another month. Julia Hanson, 8265 E. Southern Avenue, #25, Mesa, AZ 85209-3536. Thank you so much for thinking about me:)
This is another fantastic creation, I am really keen to make one I am just a little confused is the denim piece 14” & the lining is the same as the denim ,plus extra for the pocket giving a length of 22” thank you again for a wonderful tutorial
Hi I’m enjoying your videos. Was looking for the fabric cord instructions but I couldn’t find the link to the video instructions. Please reply, thank you.
