I have Anfibio rafts and love them, a little more heavy duty than this but thats horse's be for course as I usually try to plan trips 50/50 hiking and rafting.
One tip I would have is to inflate it, put it on the water. Tie it there and have a brew. The cold water will cool the air inside making the raft softer. Once you've had your brew top the raft up with air and your good to go as it will remain rigid.
You just need to let a little air out if your portaging long distance or stopping in the sun with the raft out of the water as the sun will heat and expand the air and damage the seams.
Definitely an invaluable piece of equipment and have opened up untouched waterways that canoes and kayaks just can't get too!

Fold a sleep pad in half and sit on it. Get you up a bit more also.
Handy to fit in a trunk. Handy on a small plane. Last ditch in a flood.

In the past have used a cheap dinghy upside down as a bed in flash flood and a bath in a hot tent. awesome piece of kit
You can get hand paddles for swimming. They are like two flat plastic plastic plates and they come with silicone straps to attach them to your fingers. I tie my trekking poles together and stick a hand paddle on each end for an instant kayak paddle. I wouldn't try rapids like that. But it's good enough to go do a little hand fishing in the middle of the lake.

I imaging that a fish-hook or even some sharp spines on some fish could make a decent hole in it, so I would try using it for fishing.

Thermarest sit pad should take care of ur conduction. Depending on the outside n water temp. obviously.
I wonder if one of those step on pumps would be good for that raft. Yeah you need something on the bottom of that raft other than just one ply rubber.
I saw this on another channel. He even put some of his gear inside the raft. He also, because of cold water as you mentioned, put his air mattress (inflated) in the bottom of the raft.
It kept his butt warmer and drier. You just have to remember to dry out your air bed before you bunk down for the night.

..I'd use it for a remote island adventure in a dispersed N.P. or BLM while fulltime RV'ing (our retired lifestyle, now) ..in some remote spots we have visited could be made more accessible..
There is just little space to store all our tools for varied spontaneous adventures areas we run across.. in our R-pod trailer by Forest River.
We have been known to push the envelope when it comes to carrying stuff: kayaks, touring bicycles, backpacking gear.. in our younger years (mid-40's)!!
..always looking for better ways of survival, David..

Great video Dave thank you very kindly for sharing it with us back in my younger days I would use the inexpensive but relatively decent quality Yellow Rafts As my sleeping mattress flip them upside down and they are very comfortable I would imagine you could do the same thing with your New product Once again great video and great channel please give it a shot flip your raft over and have a great night sleep Let me know how comfortable it is and do a video on

Klymit makes a 70$ version of a packraft. Similar to this maybe slightly smaller for emergency water crossing etc. they are good up here in Alaska and if Christopher mcandless has one he wouldn’t have died on that bus.

Wow.... now that is awesome. Maybe with some gear in the front it will settle down some with the paddling. I am thinking.....small barbless hooks and some damn handy tenacious tape just in case. :) What a great idea! Thanks for sharing Dave.
I found that to be the case with my rapid raft. When I strap my back pack on the front the raft tends to track straighter and not move from side to side as you paddle.

I've got two of these rafts, and they are not the wimpy pool toys people assume. The build quality is high and the materials are very durable (similarly constructed packrafts are used to run class II-IV rivers all the time ), and easy to patch.
You can strap a fully loaded backpacking back on the bow or store your overnight camping gear inside the tubes, and if you reduce your number of folds during the inflation process, you create a larger stern, meaning more flotation and better tracking and stability. I use my thermarest as an inflatable seat, so a cold butt is no problem. Some air does leak with the rolltop design, but there is an easy mod to mitigate that problem.
I got a good deal on mine during the Indiegogo campaign, and the price is higher now, but even so I think they are impressive. I'll definitely be using them on all my backpacking lake trips, and am planning some multiday river excursions to test their limits.

get some water nodles to tightly pack in the middle after inflating maybe 2 or 3 maybe cut to lengths. i think would make much nicer still light weight but kinda bulky

I like this for stealth camping. So much easier to hide/disguise something the size of loaf of bread than a boat (even if the boat is small).
But it does sit a lot lower in the water than I thought it would. I imagine it would take a lot of practice to become competent with. Wouldn't want to use in water that had anything more than a very slight current which might negate the whole emergency watercrossing/flood scenario

Lot of potential for hiking to a lake and doing a little fishing. Us country boys already thinking of improvements-for soft bottom. Light weight of course. My sister actuallysent me a cot , chair ? A couple years ago fills the same way, except no blow tube, always thought it looked like a canoe,. This would be awesome tow rig for canoe too . Small packable lightweight boat could be priceless

Only a slight observation on my part after seeing the video. would it be wiser to unroll the back end once or mayber twice to add a little more bouancy as that's where majoirty of the weight will be locating on that raft? as stated just on observation for further testing. Have a great weekend Dave.

A klymit inflatable sleep pad would definitely do well as an insulator underneath you and also provide a tiny bit of structure and also would float too!

Do you think gear could be stored in the pontoon? Of course that would make it harder to do the initial inflation.

neat! great invention. lightweight, sturdy enough, packs really small. only downside: I have to pay for it LOL Those UL rafts are usually rather expensive, and this one is so ingenious, it's probably unaffordable for me since I have a few other hobbies besides enjoying the outdoors...

Hey Dave. I have a question, in the thought of multiple functions for items we carry, do you think if you had a ground sheet, and turned that upside down, could you sleep on it like a mattress? I’m not talking about a really big person, maybe 160# ?
clever idea, i think dave is only 5'9" or so and it looks like his legs are about as long as the inside of the raft. you would probably need to go into fetal position to fit. not sure about the weight issue, but it should work since its designed to hold a human above water.
I have one of these rafts. Not sure what it would be like to sleep on over night, but you can certainly use it as a very comfortable camp chair to relax on. :)

Neat concept, but at $400, kind of pricey considering Klymit has a similar concept, with inflatable seat to help with insulation from the water for about $150.
Neither one seems exceedingly durable, but I see where having one for water crossings while packing could be useful.

Dave, I had a inflatable kayak and was yanked out of a state park in Ohio for not having it licensed was also threatened with a fine.. does this have to be licensed?
I need to look into that I am fairly certain all watercraft in Ohio are suppose to be registered but people float the rivers with Tubes all the time so.....need to verify

Looks good, I would use a inflatable sleeping pad on the base.
Only nitpick, the color should be rescue orange. So your visible to power boats or search plane.
FYI the rapid raft comes in both Olive Green and a bright orange / red version, the choice is yours.
Might be good for emergency travel down a river.

No patch kit? This is something that should be added to a loadout/preparation before it hits the water.
If you listen he says it comes with a spare buckle and patch repair kit.

Ingenius...but for most of us, $400 is steep for something which 1.)isn't a great boat/kayak 2.) isn't exactly a pocket-sized piece of kit to be casually tossed in your (probably already stuffed, heavy) bag. Going into the wilderness in lake/river country? Yes, after VERY considerable debate. Stealth camping...commando raids onto Gilligan's Island...infiltrating the Keebler Elves camp...absolutely.
This is nearly one of those brilliant products which solves a problem that doesn't exist. Naturally, I want one.

I would only use this in extreme emergency. Otherwise take the time to make you a log raft if you have the time.
Looks like a one man drowning device to me. Ok just kidding. If a person is backpacking and knows there will be a water crossing, I can see this being a handy tool, like you said, don't expect to stay dry.
There is no graceful way of getting in or out unless you have a dock or something, but like I said if you need it, it is way better than swimming-
