First off, magik GREAT editing!!! LU has no humor, but you do! For LU the only part of a trading set up that needs to be outside is the landing pad either expand your workshop place your trading comp inside, with some simple IC you can control the sat dish with some dials. Or build a vacuum room for the control tower. Ur waiting a lot of O2 sitting outside. For power, invest in stirring generator. You can “fuel” and cool it from 100% Vulcan air. It won’t run at max potential (8MW) but will produce a 2.9-3.2 MW of power at night per generator. I did upload a save file (bayalin) on Nov 19th to show it
It's been a long time since I've been this excited for a series on youtube, to the point that I miss it when there's no new episode! Would love to see you do more IC10, LU!
Those eggs seem to not be fertilized, I don't think we'll be seeing more Kevins anytime soon... Also, how they survived the exposure to Vulcan's atmosphere still remains a mystery!
7:50 You'd think by this point you'd remember you have a spare waste tank. 😅 26:52 Yes, because you bought something you didn't need, you don't have enough money for something you do need. Also, those weren't chickens, right? They aren't fertilized. 29:45 I've never traded, but I'm a little surprised to hear you can just hold the canister of Gas to sell it. Would have thought you instead needed to pump it into a fluid or gas building connected to the pad?
I guess the idea with the trading is it's supposed to be painful, as encouragement to build a better system. You can automate it as you've suggested, or you can brute force it. For brute force, bigger dishes move slowly, but have much more power, so they don't need to be closely aligned (assuming you're willing to pay the power cost for not aligning them). Also, you can build multiple dishes and then switch between which is active in the computer. So one could build two medium dishes, and leave them at about 45 degrees elevation and pointed in opposite directions. You shouldn't need to move too them much for a contact... I've never built more than two, but maybe one could build 5 dishes. Say 30 degrees elevation and pointed in each cardinal direction for four, and then one pointed straight up. Of course that's a ton of resources. it's probably easier to automate it, but there are many options.

@@LargelyUnemployed I might be getting timelines a bit mixed up but I *think* he has up to date code shown in a video? The most recent Mars series was made post-trader and phase change, and I vaguely recall his air control tower being able to track them!
I enjoy the puzzle mechanics like trading in the game, once you get used to it then it becomes trivial if not easy. it balances the game out for multiplayer professions.
The trading computer, etc, could that also not be moved indoors, and connect knobs via data cables so the satellite can be 100% connected from inside - the only need to go outside is to interact with the trader?
The satellite dish draws 10% of its power Setting when scanning and 100% when interrogating - so setting it to 4500 draws 450w at idle. (I'm almost certain it's 10%) also: > spends a ton of time and resources on aesthetics, makes a larger pad than necessary to start > "building a pad takes so long!"
24:30 thats actually a good implementation to ""force"" people to automate it. I actually think its pretty clever. Also if its taking that long it's because ure not lined in 28:48 oh no he's not trust me 😂😂 maybe the one person who thinks someone would buy a empty cardboard box for 300 bucks its the st.... we're interrupting our scheduled program to remember u guys to like LU's video
Yup, their whole design philosophy is to make the easiest way to set something up be functional but annoying to encourage you to find a better way to do it.

I was absolutely about to mention using a script to turn the antenna, feels like a very unnecessary risk to run out to use the terminal
If this guy was chiller, he would escape samsara for sure.
Human: oh no, oxygen is 2% lower than i need and heat is up by 20c, i die
Egg: *sits at 3000c vulcan atmosphere* 1% damage

Awesome video!
Cows are evil somewhat automated searching for and interrogating traders with IC10, so it's definitely possible.
Yeah I took a look at his code but it was from before the traders update. Perhaps it could be salvaged!

@@LargelyUnemployed As a somewhat new player its kinda amazing to see that a lot of the game mechanics I'm used to did not exist 2 years or less ago.
The most important thing about building a trading plattform is the elevator music playing in the background.

placing the terminal inside with a script to control the antenna my be easier on your supplies
This is where I'd put my IC10 script, IF I HAD ONE

Missed a great opportunity for the Minecraft "entity throw into lava" sound there, Magick
My initial trading setup used a small sattelite dish to scan, i just found the medium and large ones to take way to long to change direction
