Gio Gonzalez was acquired by the White Sox three times lol. Drafted by the Sox. Traded to Philly, traded back to the Sox, traded back to Oakland, and then signed at the end of his career.
If Jimmy just casually quickly says Gonzalez and hands the paper back to jolly he gets it right but because he showed his struggle getting the first name he doesn’t get the point. Very subtle ways to game the system and he didn’t take advantage of it
Look at Gio’s career ERA and his FIP. They’re almost identical. So does that means he pitched as well as he could’ve every single time he touched the ball?? Lol
*SPOILERS AHEAD* My guesses Easy: Jake Peavy. I'm bad with pitcher names, but somehow I managed to get this one right. Medium: Huston Street. Terrible guess, but it was the only name I had in my head for a late-aughts Oakland pitcher. And I don't know any Nationals pitchers besides Strasburg, Scherzer and Corbin. But I don't feel too bad because Jake didn't get it either. Hard: I'm out. I got nothing. Trivia: No idea. I know it's wrong, but I'll say Justin Verlander. A RefGuess game with 4 pitchers was never going to end well for me.
Another analytical video that would be interesting would be how much a good outfield defense contributes much to the ERA of pitchers. Thinking about the royals with isbel, renfroe, and hampson (or whoever they throw out there)
I think the only reason I got Justin Masterson was because I saw him pitch for the Indians when I went to watch the Indians play the Yankees at Progressive Field back on August 25, 2012. Surprised Jake didn't get Gio Gonzalez. I thought that was pretty easy, just like this week's trivia. Oh well. still hoping for a 90s All-Stars round.
The Shark wasn't on any of the World Series teams - Jimmy might be thinking of Ryan Vogelsong. Maybe Tim Hudson? Hudson is better known, but mostly known for his time in Oakland and Atlanta.
@@jmg999 For me it’s not even that. IDC if he’s not knowledgeable for real. I don’t watch the judge on that. But the cheating and hints totally saps away the entertainment for me.
Aaron Sanchez and Joe Biagini threw a (combined) no-hitter for the Astros after being traded from the Blue Jays in 2019. I guess they don't count since it wasn't a complete game no-no?
I haven't watched it yet, but I'm giving Ryan max 5 seconds of camera time before saying Peavy Edit: overestimate 🫡 I love Ryan because he's the same with the Padres as I am with the Yankees
Love the videos but don't love that the player silhouettes give the audience more information than the contestants, like telling us it's a lefty pitcher.
There's always an assumption that players are traded when they change teams; sometimes they are let go, then signed by their new team. Not that it makes much difference for most quizzes.
I am looking forward to the next season of Ref Guess to see Ryan Cohen, certified ball knower, constantly go toe to toe with the big boys.
💯💯
@theslotwhisperer5513 I'm so excited for that too, he seems like such an easy guy to chill with and talk baseball
Ryan subtly advancing joez more than joez would himself lmao
Nothing really subtle about it
You know the weekend is almost here when refguess shows up on your feed
On god my dyslexia kicked in and read refugees and my brain stopped for a second
Not dyslexic but I thought so too lmao
Jolly making it 3 straight pitchers when Joez is out of the office is nasty work
Just wait til Joez returns, and the topic is "Name These HOFers Who Played Exclusively for the Yankees"
GIO GONZALEZ MENTIONED 🔥⚾
Love how the edit goes from jomboy having no idea on easy to a cut and him saying "Jake Peavy". Jolly obviously gave him some huge hint
Exactly… at that point they should’ve just left it in 🤦🏾♂️
"She from the Country, think she like me cause I'm from New York" I see you Jake
Clay buchholz guess is all time worst guess in one of these
Dude was almost a Red Sox his entire career and never in Cleveland and he said it so confidently
My thought as well
Clay Bucholz guess by BBD has to be an all-time whiff cause WTF was that kind of guess.
I love that Ryan just says the answer and doesn't waffle. Watching everyone fake struggle is not good content. Just cut to the chase.
BBD with great thought process during the 3rd guess, but bottles it by saying Clay Buchholz. The guy played 90% of his career in Boston.
Gio Gonzalez was acquired by the White Sox three times lol. Drafted by the Sox. Traded to Philly, traded back to the Sox, traded back to Oakland, and then signed at the end of his career.
It always blows my mind how elite Jake’s music taste is
If Jimmy just casually quickly says Gonzalez and hands the paper back to jolly he gets it right but because he showed his struggle getting the first name he doesn’t get the point. Very subtle ways to game the system and he didn’t take advantage of it
good to know that 2012 nats watching me was onto something with the nickname sir walks-a-lot for gio gonzalez
Mediums curveball was absolutely untouchable on one of the Show games right before he blew up
It's wild that Jake Peavy won the Cy Young award and never received so much as a single vote in any other season.
Jolly, I would love to see a "super" easy one, like use Plouffe or something
Look at Gio’s career ERA and his FIP. They’re almost identical. So does that means he pitched as well as he could’ve every single time he touched the ball?? Lol
If you want a hard Ref Guess, do the Major League pitchers, by their hitting. It will go all the way up to 2019, but it be fun.
Ryan sending a Tweet to his future coworker as a kid is very serendipitous
I remember Peavy as A Red Sox more than a White Sox, which is funny since his CHW stint was far longer.
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
My guesses

I absolutely LOVED Gio Gonzalez. Dude's curve had such a big break.
Another analytical video that would be interesting would be how much a good outfield defense contributes much to the ERA of pitchers. Thinking about the royals with isbel, renfroe, and hampson (or whoever they throw out there)

I had the immediate reaction of Jake Westbrook then said masterson too I saw my thought process play out all over with some of the boys
Fact check: Mike Fiers threw a no hitter in 2015 for the Houston Astros after being traded there from the Brewers in the Carlos Gomez trade
The Shark wasn't on any of the World Series teams - Jimmy might be thinking of Ryan Vogelsong. Maybe Tim Hudson? Hudson is better known, but mostly known for his time in Oakland and Atlanta.
Stop letting Jimmy cheat. It’s so obvious on the Easy.
He knows less about sports than anyone in the office. He really doesn't need to be involved in any of these games.
@@jmg999 For me it’s not even that. IDC if he’s not knowledgeable for real. I don’t watch the judge on that. But the cheating and hints totally saps away the entertainment for me.
Medium I thought he was gonna be an absolute monster for life in Oakland and then I thought he was gonna prevent the Giants from advancing in 2014
It is inanse Jake Peavy only got Cy Young votes in the one season he won it. Those ‘04 and ‘05 seasons were impressive as hell too
Theme idea: players who featured in movies. Such as Pete Vuckovich or Royce Clayton.
I felt like Max Mannis getting each answer in like three seconds each 😭
ryan cohen my goat
Woo I got all them for once. If this was Sporcle i would’ve forgotten all of them.
Aaron Sanchez and Joe Biagini threw a (combined) no-hitter for the Astros after being traded from the Blue Jays in 2019. I guess they don't count since it wasn't a complete game no-no?
You ever consider fan submitted refguesses?
I do not think I have thought of Justin Masterson since the five minutes in 2014 he played for the cardinals
Easiest Hard so far! Masterson is a Boston legend
Convenient that Joez "just so happened" to be absent on pitcher day...
I once got a hit off of Justin Masterson in gym class in high school.
8:52 yes
I have 0 recollection of Gio Gonzalez on the A’s, thought he was a Nat thru and thru
Nats fans love Gio!
12:16 I’m pretty sure that is Justin Masterson
This is first time I’ve ever gotten them all!
Wouldn’t Mike Fiers also work for the last question?
Was Joez out because they’re all pitchers?
I totally got Hard mixed up with Zach McAllister
Come on Jake, we need you to be better! 😂
I was thinking Russ Ortiz
Justin Masterson, native Jamaican
Gio was a August waiver deadline deal
Good hard this week
why do i not remember justi masterson EVER on STL as a lifelong fan??? (Im 25)
Trivia layup
White Sox traded Gio twice before starting his career lol
my first ever 3/3!! 🎉
why only pichers..............theres other players at trade deadline................
Big miss by the GeoGuessers hahaha
Need Lastings Milledge on RefGuess NOW
Blastings Thrilledge
JUSTIN MASTERSON MENTIONED
I haven't watched it yet, but I'm giving Ryan max 5 seconds of camera time before saying Peavy
Edit: overestimate 🫡 I love Ryan because he's the same with the Padres as I am with the Yankees
How do NY fans not know Westbrook was originally a Yankee?? Never a Red Sox player
3 pitchers man 😢
Love the videos but don't love that the player silhouettes give the audience more information than the contestants, like telling us it's a lefty pitcher.
I was hopeful that Justin masterson was going to be elite in 2015
Five aces babyyy
There's always an assumption that players are traded when they change teams; sometimes they are let go, then signed by their new team.
Not that it makes much difference for most quizzes.
Gio was no harder than the Easy…… why did everyone struggle so much with guessing his ref? Weird. Just it wasn’t difficult at all. Kinda disappointed
Red Sox fans get the Hard one cause he’s a Jamaican born white guy😂
Yall are scared to do the lowest WAR draft I keep suggesting it to yall
Joez is glad he missed it since doesn't like pitchers that much
Yo
Max is the one the guy you barely see in those videos, because most of the time he just gets its right away
Watching jimmy have to cheat and take every hint imaginable sucks. Just take the L's on easy or get him off this show already
These "yankees camp" mfs are such small picture thinkers lmao. Like moths to a flame
How does Jimmy just say Peavy out of nowhere after that terrible thought process? Stop cheating and letting Jimmy move on let's keep it real
i thought the same thing. such a quick cut
FACTS!
