A fun journey to the West lore. Black Wind Demon, or the Bear Demon was the first major enemy Wukong and Xuanzang faced (discounting the corrupt Monk Elder Jinchi) in the original story. The Bear Demon is a interesting and complex character. While he was the one who corrupted Jinchi, albeit accidentally and indirectly. He was a genuine friend to Jinchi. He was also one of the few major demon lords who doesnt eat humans nor seek Xuanzang's flesh. The Black Wind demon was initially a bear who gain sentience via cultivation magic, and learning the mystic. When he encountered Jinchi, he developed a genuine friendship with him, via his magic Jinchi became rich, and even learnt mystics to prolong his life to a unnatural 270 years old.The Bear demon had no ulterior motives, he showered Jinchi with gold and taboo magic only out of generiosity, but effectively stray him away from Buddhism with greed. When Jinchi and his corrupt disciples (Guangmo and Guangzhi) tried to murder Xuanzang and Wukong out of greed for his Kesaya (a piece of buddhism toga that is part of their robe) via arson. Wukong blew their flames back at them, resulting in the guanyin temple burning down. When the temple burn down, Black Wind Demon's first instince was to rush down the mountains to take out the flames, but upon setting eyes upon Xuanzang's kesaya, he stole it and ran off. Leaving the Jinchi Monks to their own fate. Elder Jinchi ill covet treasures all burnt down, but because he cant find Xuanzangs kesaya, he commited not alive but bashing his head on the ground. Which is why the golden big head monks main attack is a headbutt. Later Black Bear held a banquet to view the kesaya. But longstory short, Wukong crashed the party and beat him up. Guan Yin, or Bodhisvatta, the female Buddha showed up and took him in as a disciple to redeem him. Which it did. In Black myth, Black Wind Demon returning to the mountain to rebuilt the temple and restore the charred scriptures is a way of feeling guilt towards his own actions in the temple fire incident, as well as for his late friend. And it also explain why he went ballistic at us the player, the Destined one. He was also dressed as a buddhist monk by the time of this game, because this was him after converting into buddhism under Guanyin. Which is weird that he was a "Yaoguai King" as he long abandoned his warlording and demonic way by the time of this story. If it had been a regular monk, human or passerby, the Black Bear Demon, the demon grunts, White Snake man, Guangmo and Guangchi would have mostly left them alone.

If you’re still stuck on him there’s another boss very close to him (wolf with a fire staff) if you beat him you can transform into him and use his fire staff. That should help a lot against the big headed boss
I hope I'm not spoiling too much here but: I personally really enjoy those beautiful illustrations after you complete each chapter. It feels like it breaks down the entire chapter in one summary.
Tiger boss was very entertaining for me got him in 3 tries. Yellow Wind Sage 2nd phase kicked my ass for 15 before I went and got the staff from the geodude
Yellow wind sage is a joke if you're actually exploring and talking to people. Act 2 if you do the drunk pigs quest, it ends with a boss that gives you an item that keeps yellow wind sage stunned when he goes into his wind form
Charlie needs to do commentary only gameplay videos more often. I dont know why but his chat is always so toxic and annoying. Its also nice to hear what he thinks as he plays along instead of reading messages every 5 seconds

Many people say that this game has no game difficulty options. In fact, if you defeat the Boss within a certain period of time, its second combat form will be triggered. If you just barely defeat the Boss, it will not be triggered. This is the adaptive difficulty of this game. Additional information: not all bosses have this setting. From the offline trial, the monkey boss triggers the second combat form after reaching a certain amount of health within a specific time frame. The second combat form switches the battle scene, the boss will grow wings, its attack speed and damage will increase, and its skill form will be slightly altered. The tiger boss has a second combat form, but few players have experienced it in the offline trial. This information is based on the trial version, and I'm unsure if the official release will modify this aspect.

Yellow Wind Sage was actually a very fun balanced boss IMO, minus his grabs, he didn't pull too much dirty stuff like the bear and Tiger did... The Black Loong is the most BS boss ever tho, I can tell he'll be easy if I come back later, but for how early u can find him, he's soo cheap, most his moves 1 shot you!
With Black Loong when he does the crazy shockwave attacks it is possible to dodge without using the rocks since he can easily wipe those out at times. You alternate between jumping and rolling. So you do two jumps then a roll and vice versa depending on the pattern. Hopefully that helps anyone who might be struggling.
Man, i wish he wouldve ended up showing the hr gameplay where the mic was muted anyway. He could've just like added commentary after the fact. I wanted to see what and where he decided to go, could've gave his thoughts about what was happening at the moment etc

I'm seeing a lot of comments like, "This isn't a Soulslike." But to me, the gameplay looks very similar to Nioh 2's. Multiple stances, an emphasis on combos, a difference between money and XP, picking up a literal soul and then unlocking swappable abilities almost identically to Nioh 2's Soul Core system. Plus, obviously, the healing flask (though Nioh 2 had elixirs, which were more like BB's Blood Vials) and the rest point shrines. If Nioh 2 is a soulslike, then this is one too. At the very least, it's a hybrid, or a "Souls-lite," you could say.

Here’s the formula for action RPG games in the modern day Attack-> avoid-> attack -> avoid. Maybe once in awhile add a parry or block. That’s the combat. In majority of games. Same as this one but no blocking or parrying to my knowledge. (Other than a spell that makes you immune to damage.) Seems like people are just regurgitating what they hear from whoever is trying to gas up or tear down the game. To anyone who reads this I enjoy the game and if you can afford it I recommend it. If you cannot then grab that sucker when it goes on sale. If you don’t like the game already then buy it on sale and give it a go. But if all you’ve done is trash the game then you’ve probably ruined any chance of actually liking it. God bless.

For anyone maybe struggling with the black loong boss fight, you can evade that rhythm attack by dodging sideways, that way you always have enough time to dodge the next attack, don't dodge forward or backwards. That or as Charlie did, just stand on one of the rocks if they haven't been destroyed already

Such a shame we couldn't see the awesomw Tiger Boss fight and a few other cool bosses, a shame he missed the entire secret optional area too.

I'm seeing a lot of comments like, "This isn't a Soulslike." But to me, the gameplay looks very similar to Nioh 2's.
Multiple stances, an emphasis on combos, a difference between money and XP, picking up a literal soul and then unlocking swappable abilities almost identically to Nioh 2's Soul Core system. Plus, obviously, the healing flask (though Nioh 2 had elixirs, which were more like BB's Blood Vials) and the rest point shrines.
If Nioh 2 is a soulslike, then this is one too. At the very least, it's a hybrid, or a "Souls-lite," you could say.

Here’s the formula for action RPG games in the modern day
Attack-> avoid-> attack -> avoid.
Maybe once in awhile add a parry or block. That’s the combat. In majority of games. Same as this one but no blocking or parrying to my knowledge. (Other than a spell that makes you immune to damage.)
Seems like people are just regurgitating what they hear from whoever is trying to gas up or tear down the game.
To anyone who reads this I enjoy the game and if you can afford it I recommend it. If you cannot then grab that sucker when it goes on sale.
If you don’t like the game already then buy it on sale and give it a go. But if all you’ve done is trash the game then you’ve probably ruined any chance of actually liking it.

For anyone maybe struggling with the black loong boss fight, you can evade that rhythm attack by dodging sideways, that way you always have enough time to dodge the next attack, don't dodge forward or backwards. That or as Charlie did, just stand on one of the rocks if they haven't been destroyed already
