i love this! Even though i am a Star Wars Fan, i did not know of all these stories. I share a love of Star Wars with my son, now 35, and i am going to share this episode with him. I think that he would love it. I love that you guys are doing this together, keep this going, it's awesome!

Glad to hear that Brandon is a HUGE Star Wars fan. I am too. I've read over 73 of the Disney Canon novels (and own most all the Adult and YA novels, and some of the Middle Grade novels).
I am also reading the Extended Universe/Legends novels, and have read 87 (currently reading my 88th, Karen Miller's Clone Wars Gambit, second novel in her duology, called Siege. It is based on Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker...shortly after Ahsoka Tano became Anakin's padawan).
I love the connectivity and consistency in the Disney Canon, but feel that the originality of the Extended Universe/Legends books were amazing. The frustrating part (for me), was that from book to book, author to author, the facts changed and not much ties perfectly to the other books (even within an author's own books), and forget about between authors.
I own all the books in the Extended Universe, and am currently working my way forward in the Timeline (in universe). I've read a lot of the most famous books already, but felt it would be a good thing to read it chronologically (in world), so as to get the FULL picture. I'm currently in The Rise of the Empire (Prequel era) at the moment (The Clone Wars) and just having a blast.
Thank you for doing this video. Really enjoyed it.

Wow! That's impressive. I'm reading through the X-Wing series right now (currently on book 2). I totally get what you mean about inconsistency of the legends books. But they are fun to read.

Now I’m going to have to check out these newer Thrawn books. I read the original Legacy series when they first came out. Quite a few years ago, I was fortunate enough to actually meet Tim Zahn and have a nice chat with him. Such a great guy!

Awesome! You totally should check out the new ones. Thrawn is the best.

What a fun video! I’m starting to get into the Star Wars book world and recently finished Heir to the Empire! I love that the various authors make the Star Wars books (old and new ones) so accessible for all readers (regardless of how deep their Star Wars knowledge goes or doesn’t go) but also keep the plots complex and exciting. I adored the movies and love getting back into the world whenever I want through the books!

My husband and I completely agree you about Rogue One and Andor. We need more of that kind of writing and directing. I have Heir of the Empire, the first book but had trouble getting into it years ago before i would see Rebels. I need to go back to it. I watched all of clone wars and rebels while on bedrest a couple years ago. Sooo good. I watched them simultaneously 😅

You for sure should go back to read heir of the empire. 👍 Rebels is my favorite of the two animated series but they both are solid.

I love the Star Wars universe despite the complex history. I appreciate this review! I’ve been curious about the book: Razor’s Edge (Empire and Rebellion #1) solely because it’s written by Martha Wells (Murderbot Diaries). I loved that series so I trust her with the story. ❤❤❤

Wholeheartedly agree with all the Thrawn books. They are frequently re-read/listened to by everyone in my house.
Fun fact: Timothy Zahn wrote a 6 book series geared toward the preteen/early teen age called Dragon and Thief. It's not Star Wars, but it's a fantastic sci-fi series that my oldest boy read a few years ago. I read them after he was finished and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Oh cool. I knew he wrote non-star wars stuff too and have been meaning to read them.

I love how Zahn wrote these to fit perfectly within both versions of the Star Wars canon. You could easily have these fit into Legends and see why Thrawn is the way he is in the Heir Trilogy.

If you guys want to get the full Rouge One/Andor experience, I can recommend a few more books to you.
    1. Star Wars Catalyst by James Luceno- it’s all about Erso family as the become involved in project Stardust and explains how they met Krennic and Saw Gerrerra.
    2. Guardians of the Whills by Greg Rucca- It explains what was happening on Jedha with Baze and Chirrut just before Rouge One. One of the cool things in this book is that each chapter starts out with a quote from non-Jedi societies and organizations about what the force is to them and how they interact with it. It’s a middle grade/ young adult book that is a very quick read.
    3. Inferno squadron by Christie Golden- this book follows the main character from the newer Star Wars Battlefront II game. It takes place right after A New Hope as her team of imperials are tasked with hunting down the members of Saw Gerrerra’s Partisans that survived the destruction of Jedha due to their hand in the Destruction of the Death Star.
I hope your able to enjoy these books and all the other Star Wars books you read.

OK, guys, I'm an OG Star Wars fan. I cut my sci-fi teeth on these films and read the screenplay books as they came out. Love-love-love. I got the comic books when they started (but soon "outgrew" them as young adulthood reared it's ugly/distracting head). I have not read any of these books and you have me on 🔥to start reading these! I really want to start with the Jyn Urso book, then get into the Thrawn books. Thanks so much for sharing!

All of my legends books from the 90s are still at my parents' house and I try to buy the new ones on Kindle sale. Anything Thrawn is definitely a must-read. I loved the Rogue Squadron books and want to read Alphabet Squadron, but don't have them yet. I think I'm going to pick up Lost Stars next.

I have never read Star Wars but you make Thrawn sound tempting! Are you excited for the Acolyte series? (Did I get that right? With Cary Ann Moss?)
Rebecca Roanhorse you mentioned is an indigenous author and I have read a mystery/supernatural book by her before. It makes me wonder how the Star Wars authors are selected - are they invited or do they write something and submit it to the Disney publishers??🤔

    • @GoodBooksLately
      @GoodBooksLately  4 месяца назад

I am excited for the Acolyte, but also very cautious. As for how authors are selected, I'm not sure. Might have to do some investigating.
