I got to meet John last year after his Christmas show in Seattle WA. It was my dream to meet him. I got my picture taken with him and he signed his book "Carsick". Over a year later and I am still in shock that I met him. It was a dream come true. He was very nice.
John Waters loves laughing at the darkness and has kicked ass to bring wit to the witless-the most difficult task to accomplish on any planet in any galaxy in any universe. This guy shines.
Some of the things he said were so clever and hilarious, and the audience just didn't react the way they should have,..I think he was ahead of his time here. I'd love to hang out with him for a week...
Particularly noticeable on those long chronological Letterman appearances that are up on YT now. They don't respond to any of his observations and stories in the earliest ones, and start to laugh more over time. This audience is actually pretty with it.
Thank you so much for transfering and uploading. John Waters is our American national treasure and a great human philosopher. Everything I learned from deep philosophy, I learned from Pink Flamingos and Female Trouble. A true saint in my book!
got to john do a q&a and seminar back in 99 Kalamazoo Michigan drove 3 hours to get there big fan wish he would go back to his roots make a new underground diversive film with only underground artists

He's consistently the best-adjusted person in the room. Seriously.
Adore this guy.
Agreed
*I totally agree. A true American gentleman’s gentleman and witty, too.*
If he ran for US President, I'd vote for him.
At this point if a glass of water ran for US president I'd vote for it.

Love that man! A national treasure

People have gotten really mad at me for showing them Pink Flamingos. That's how you know you have a piece of true art.

Totally agree. He actually IS a fine role model, in so many ways that truly count. And bottom line: he wants to make you laugh
Waters, what a fantastic guy
I love that Carrie Fisher's there.
"Serial Mom" and "Hairspray" too great films
What a great guy. I'd love to see Nardwuar interview him.
What a combination of personalities that'd be
I think he did! Nardwuar VS John Waters
Great interview. Love both John and Jay.
Another Baltimore icon like Frank Zappa. Wonderful.
No white shoes after Labour Day.
Carrie Fisher looks great
I still have a Polyester odorama card. Just can't bring myself to scratch & sniff it.
And that’s how they got the name for American pie
Leno's audiences were always so lame
They were laughing in the right places here. So, ?
John seems more Comfortable with Jay

For the first 5 minutes I actually thought I had stumbled upon a good interview on Leno’s behalf... nope
Such boring repetitive questions for such an interesting human being
Ah, the 90s with all it's subcultures.
Why the hell did a box tv whoosh out of the ground? You guys had such wacky technology back in the 80s!
No one mentions John Goodman.
Zzzzzzzzzzzaaapp!!!!
Definitely one of the best Simpsons cameos
why was the movie scene cut?
no talk about 'hairspray', the biggest hit!
"Who's ready to die for art!!!"
