These islands were my favorite part of Greece, less tourists and more locals. Nothing real fancy on them. Skiathos is good for younger people who like nightclubs, Skopelos & Alonnoisis do not have the night life and better for us older travelers who don’t like parties. You need to be in good shape to walk up the climbing street walks & to get to the beaches though, most of Greece requires good physical condition, but that’s why we loved it there. Thanks for the memories from just 1.5 years ago 😢

I love skiathos and skopelos and allonissos..i get lost in those streets too. Loads of beaches and bus stop numbers. My favourite most wild beach is mandraki beach bus stop 24
Thank you for the tour of Skiathos. A very fascinating island. It has the relaxing atmosphere of the greek towns, the simple style of the restaurants, tavernas. The lanes form a real labyrinth, but that is charming.

I reckon that might have been Cretan moussaka, looks so much like the moussaka I had one lunchtime in a Cretan restaurant on the island of Aegina four years ago. I enjoyed it so much that i went back for the same the next day.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos Agreed! Only more reason to return ;) One region I think you'd really like is Calabria, Sicily and all the nearby little islands there (such as Eolian). So much history, scenery and amazing water! Theres also Sardinia of course :D
Those streets were deliberately constructed like mazes so that invading pirates got confused and the people could find shelter to hide from them. You see towns like this on many Greek islands.
Excited for the poland videos, old buildings and history is what I love about Europe

I worked on skiathos for a summer and lived in the town and was still getting lost 5 months after living there. Loved it, you could never get lost for more than about 15 minutes, if in doubt head for the sea. Hasn't changed a bit in 14 years since I lived there
Understandable! I was still getting lost in Corfu Corfu island old town 4 years after living there as a student in the local University...

I thought Shiathos was more interesting. Skopelos is great as well, awesome beaches but mostly just beaches to see there and they were all pretty crowded in August. Skiathos has more beaches so they aren't as crowded, and some other interesting places which I'll show in the next video. Also Skiathos is a shorter ferry trip and has an airport.

@@CosmoTrav I stayed in Skiathos and took boat trips to Skopelos and Alonissos. Definitely more to explore in Skiathos Town, and several times I walked the 9 km to Koukounaries Beach and back. A pleasant walk indeed.

👍😊. I would definitely go to Greece and the islands, but my wife has major travel anxiety. So instead we will have our time together traveling locally and in the winter the Carolinas.
It's strange how time distorts the memory, particularly in respect of towns and cities. I stayed in Skiathos Town thirty-five years ago, yet I recognise literally nothing. However were it a beach or a mountain area, I'd remember it as if it were yesterday.

I have to tell you for the longest time, when I was watching your India videos (the BEST!) I kept thinking wow, that's really odd how all the hotels there have the same bedspread. Thought it was an Indian thing or something. HA! I laughed SO hard when I realized what was up!!! I usually watch your videos at about 4:20, so that could explain it! Cheers from Portland and by the way, you have been ONFIRE with all the awesome Greek videos, and on pins and needles to find out which country you were in after Greece. I will need to visit it! I wish we could build similar cute towns in US. It could be done. They aren't such expensive buildings, they save land. And people are looking for more urban living.- Edit - If I were a billionaire, I would deffo build some vanity project cute towns. With my name all over it, lol.

Good to see Skiathos again. I was there for a week in 1982 and stayed in rooms for the equivalent of £1 a night. Three bottles of beer in a cafe on the waterfront also cost £1.Happy days! 😎
Those were the days. I first visited Greece in 1990. Super cheap then too.

Hey Gabriel, It looked like they didn't have enough restaurants and places to eat there. I'm sure the prices of everything there was so reasonable.
That's because I was lost down random back alleys. There are tons of restaurants on the main pedestrian street and also at the waterfront. Prices are a little high for Greece because it's a touristy island, but still reasonable.
When I die I want my ashes scattered in the Aegean Sea 🥰

I don't remember the name of the apartments but yes, I have an international driving permit. You don't need one for Greece though.

Too many mopeds, this sucks! They should had kept the cobblestone streets pedestrianized. It is a no for me and a deal breaker, pity because it looked promising otherwise.

No reason, just to see if I could find it. Sadly I couldn't. Sometimes in life you have to accept your losses and keep on cruising.

Indeed. Getting lost in Greek villages is one of my favorite things to do. But there were beaches and castles waiting to be explored.
