  • NOTE:
My former graduate advisor,[ Glenn DeVoogd, Ph. D.
Professor and Chair, Department of Literacy and Early Education
Coordinator of Master of Arts in Reading (online),Coordinator of Special Education], and so I respect his knowledge.
wanted me to know that this is officially the CVCe
    pattern.
    Yes, I do know that.
My 5th graders COULD comprehend and process that extra consonant in the pattern, many of my first graders can not, so we just focus on VCe.

    Evil e (ch-ch)
    Evil e (ch-ch)
Making the vowel say its name
    While e stays quiet...
    Shhh!
"Say it vowel! Say your name."
That sneaky tricky bossy evil e JUMPs over the CONSONANT in its way
and tells the VOWEL to say its name; and then sits there at the end of the
word in silence, as though nothing happened.
