Sometimes It's Better to not meet your Heroes....

  • I really don't want to sell the 996 911 Turbo but sometimes you need to know when to let go of a car. Sadly I need to let it go. In less than 600 miles I have had to replace so much on this car. For the past two months, it has been down for an issue that I couldn't even pinpoint because the Car wouldn't give me an accurate CEL. I always wanted one of these but sometimes I guess it is better to not meet your heroes, or in this case your hero car.
I'd like to one day jump back into another one or even a 997 if the chance ever comes up. But right now with how many issues I have had out of the 996 Turbo... It needs to go.

Sad to hear about the Porsche. Out of the potential replacements you named, my totally 100% unbiased opinion is to go for an FK8. A Boost Blue FK8 would look fantastic beside Blue. Ive had my 21 since I got it new. So far I've had one track day and a season of autocross. It is far better than any FWD car should be able to be. The only downside is that it can overheat on a circuit, especially if it's hot out. But that's not an issue for street driving and has lots of known things that can help.

For future I bet you already know but when you said it had a code for the downstream o2 sensor that o2 sensor doesn't have any affect on fuel trims and is just for seeing if the cat is working properly. Also those o rings for the intercooler typically should be replaced especially with how many times you taken them on and off and that is why it mostly likely blew out. It also could've been that on the pipe/intercooler the tabs that the retaining clip hold in could've worn off/broke as I've seen that on vw/audi boost pipe connections if that has the same style.

I was chasing a misfire on my mk7 a couple weeks ago. Started with plugs, then coils, then injectors, and then we ended with it actually being a broken valve spring. But hey, now it runs mint! Also side note, always been a subie guy until i got a mk7 as a daily (still have a 98 EJ25D swapped Impreza L wagon) I’ve had more trouble with this damn VW and its reliability than my subaru ever lol. Keep up the great work 🤘🏼

@@Smeedia Currently sitting at 94k on a 2015. After doing some research I found that it’s a somewhat known issue on the 2015’s only to have bad valve springs. When it broke, I was going 15 mph down my street in second, and the car was never over-revved (in my ownership) so I didn’t think there was any way it was a valve spring until we did everything else. Replacing all the injectors did fix a random misfire that I noticed in the data but wasn’t enough to throw a code

@smeedia it just cracks me up that subarus get such a bad rep for reliability because people don’t know how to build them. When you build them correctly and maintain them, they really have no issues.
