I've tried many different types of joints to connect all the segments of the fingers, and you just skipped that part and used it as both a joint and a spring. Which seems like a pretty smart idea, but I think it would look and work better if you added something for positioning the fingers, so that they would stay exactly in line.
What I've found is that although they sometimes do get misaligned, they immediately get realigned when pulled shut. Then they open back up perfectly straight.
Hello I am Czech and I want to thank for this video because I have a deformed hand and I can not move my fingers, and this video inspires me to make my hand, Otherwise, I think we will not have to buy a prosthesis on your hand or foot, just print it in a 3D printer :-))
Hey Kiby, were you able to create your own prosthesis? If you haven't solved your problem yet I would love to help you get a 3D printed prosthesis as part of a project I'm currently working on! Best of luck! :D
Using that Arduino nano screw shield was an awesome idea! What type of Arduino and Servo did you use? I have a similar project on my channel if you wanna check it out.
Thank you! I checked out your video and it's really cool, I got the arduino nano board at m.banggood.com/ATmega328P-Arduino-Compatible-Nano-V3-Improved-Version-No-Cable-pnew-959231.html And the board fits in the screw sheild which can be found here m.banggood.com/NANO-IO-Shield-Expansion-Board-For-Arduino-pnew-963967.html You can get all the files and other material URLs at my Thingiverse page in the description, and I was also wondering if you go to MIT?
I applaude you for this project, you make me feel as confident as I´ve ever been about choosing my career, thank you very much. One last thing haha I wasn´t able to find the codes, where are they?
How successful do you think this particular hand it at picking up objects. What would be the weight limit? Also, is there any way you can control each finger separately and not just all the fingers and then the thumb? Replies would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
This hand is very good at picking up objects with the opposable thumb, the weight limit is around 6 or 7 lbs. even though we haven't officially tested it yet. As for the control, each finger can be controlled individually except the ring and pinky finger which move together.
fantastic! im a quadriplegic with little hand movment and im thinking something like this, but more of an exo arm would be great. can i get the arduino code for it
I am assuming a all day application should last, but there is a reason that the battery is recommended to be rechargable. An idea would be to charge the battery while you sleep, then attach it onto the arm in the morning.
It took me about 2 hours to make the entire arm having all the pieces and tools present. The servos both go to pins 8 and 9 like you said and the battery power goes to VIN (+) and GND (-) and the muscle sensor goes to the 5V pin the GND pin and the A3.
Hi, I am making one using an arduino pro mini but I can't find the connexion diagram, from what i read in the sketch sensor is A3, servo finger 9, servo thumb 8. Correct ? The battery is on Raw and GND right ? Where do you power the sensor from the arduino? Thanks
Sorry I am not understanding something. So when attached to the amputee how do they make it move?? thinking about making one and need to understand before I start
So super super basic run down of this, if they didn’t have a hand, they would utilize a different muscle, like a bicep or a for arm muscle, and through the flex of the muscle, the muscle sensor will read and interpret that, thus causing the hand to clench/release depending on the code
@@limalshaji6788sir do you have the code for this project. I am working with it for my father. But when I came to the final test using the sensor it won't move using only with battery. If I plug in the adriono to USB it works a little bit more than only using battery. Can I have your email for question about this project. Or do you have you own video when you made this project?
Does this hand follow your own hand's movement?! Or what kind of sensor do you need to get for that ability for the hand to follow your own arm's movement?! Really curious and NEED as much as info possible!! Also any possible way to find the thumb of the humanoid hand?!
Although I've never formally tested the grip strength, it is surprisingly strong. More than strong enough to grip a soda can or water bottle for example.
I'm having some trouble with the servos, the code apparently shows only two input (read 180 and 0) but these servos are 360° which means they rotate infenitely, how did you control the position??
You can print the arm from thingiverse, and if you don't have a 3D printer you can order the parts from a site that prints pieces and ships them to you like www.shapeways.com/
A little girl in our community recenly lost her arm in a farming accident. I'm giong to try to make things better. I've never done anything like this before. Let me know if you can help if needed.
I just knotted it through the servo horn so it would not fall through when the servo pulled on it. There is no special knot that is required for it to work, as long as when it is pulled by the servo it pulls the fishing line enough to close the fingers
I use a myoware muscle sensor which has electrodes that clip on, then the electrodes are placed over the muscle that is going to control the arm. I have a very basic setup right now where you simply put on the electrode and when you flex, the robotic arm closes.

Sorry I am not understanding something. So when attached to the amputee how do they make it move??
thinking about making one and need to understand before I start
You need to flex the muscle to move the prosthesis.
So super super basic run down of this, if they didn’t have a hand, they would utilize a different muscle, like a bicep or a for arm muscle, and through the flex of the muscle, the muscle sensor will read and interpret that, thus causing the hand to clench/release depending on the code

the sensor is called the MyoWare Muscle sensor. you attach the sensor to any muscle on your body, and when the muscle is flexed, it outputs a signal.
