I took the top off of mine then plugged it back into the car so that I could check if my ribbon cables were the cause of my display failure, was just like this one, completely illegible. Lightly touching the ribbon brought the display back instantly. I took it out again and carefully removed the two ribbon cables, applied a little contact cleaner and refitted them. There are no locking tabs as they are press fit into the connectors. All working properly again now, thanks for the useful video.
Great video thanks! I followed it and went great! Except when I put it back in the car I don’t get image and buttons don’t work. Just radio sound. Any ideia what’s wrong? Really appreciate your help. Thanks!
Well Johnny after removing the top cover (min 5:21 to 5:26 of video) I just pushed the brown flat ribbon cable down, it did not feel like it was loosed but it did the job. I though I had the phone camera on but is wasn't.

Nice, this fixed the problem for me too. The ribbon cable did not feel loose at all, but pressing down on it to ensure contact did the trick.
That is almost what happened to me.. glad it helped.
You don’t show how you fix the ribbon cable ??????????
What did you fix, you tool the top cover off and quickly your putting it back in
