I love the OM-1, but the OM-2 more. I understand what you're saying on running without batteries, but I've been shooting with battery-powered film cameras since the 80s with no trouble. I always had a spare.
I have an R8 that is beautiful, but stopped working a couple of years ago. Could be tempted to to get an R4 to use my 7 R lenses. I often looked at the Contax as well, but don't have a single lens for it.
If you're going for the most compact, mechanical, manual SLR, I have to go for the Pentax MX. Wayyy better viewfinder vs OM-1, swappable focus screen, and it can use modern glass like the 43mm limited, or the older 40mm Pentax-M. Great coverage of the options though, and you can't go wrong with an Olympus in that slot 😁
Nikon F3. Masterpiece. And you can configure it as you wish.
