I've walked most of that in my time. Back in the 70's the canal was an overgrown neglected swamp. There was a bit of water at 'The Deeps' off Crondal Road/Church Crookham and a few people fishing, but beyond that bridge all the way to Dogmerdfield you never saw a soul. There was a bridge you could cross about a half mile from the deeps that led to an electric station but they knocked that down years ago. I walked from the deeps to see where the canal went-could cut 10 miles walking the road!
