They know, but its the waiting that they just cant take, and they i guess just hope it will be different that day somehow or something. They also though pretty much loose time, and forget things. Heck i drink way too much, and in some mornings because in my country its 9am i go for my morning fix at 8am just to even get some beer or something, and then im like oh my bad at the register so i guess im getting there

Working liquor stores is a crazy double-edged sword. You get to meet people and hear some awesome stories, but you also see a lot of people at their lowest moments every single day trying to numb and soothe their pain. And it's essentially your job to be their enabler.

Literally a legal drug dealer alcohol is similar to Xanax in strength and effect. A central nervous system depressant that also dumps dopamine and serotonin like cocaine. Also like xanax it's one of the only drugs with potentially lethal withdrawals. Drinking is lovely but the double standard is so annoying and illogical just because people can be sheepish about norms.

Def don't miss those days. I'll be 10 months sober this month. I died from DTs at the end of 2022 and had to be put in a coma for 7 days. The hallucinations from DTs were insane and terrifying, but were 100% real in my eyes. I'm alive today because the drs didn't give up on me, even when they were almost positive that I wasn't going to make it. I'm so thankful. I did drink shortly after being out of the hospital, but kicked myself in the ass and asked my dr for medication to help with the urges. Once the urges went away, I stopped taking that med, and I've been done with boose since. I got a second chance at life, and I didn't want to go down that same shitty, depressing road again.

One and a half years sober! Remember being this guy. See in this scenario you're mad you can't liquor as soon as the store opens, thats because you actually only got $9 and two dollars in coins so if you have to buy a malt liqour right now you can only buy a single pint later. Which you're going to have to buy that tall boy because you feel like youre dying. So this whole day is going to suck balls. You're going to drink that tall boy and not be drunk and only a little better feeling, then you're going to down that pint and fall asleep by 5pm and wake up at 7pm sober. You're able to scrounge up a dollar to buy a shooter, so you walk to the liqour store a third time for the day.(Because you havent had a car in years and have two duis) That shooter eases you a bit but you aren't looking foward to the rest of the night. You feel decent for an hour or two and progressivley get crappier. You get mad that you didn't ration out that pint for the rest of the night(that was never going to happen even though thats exactly what you planned, unfortunately you're an alcoholic) you fall asleep at 2am and wake back up at about 5am and spend the morning looking through your room for more change and possibly a shooter you knocked off the back of your nightstand. You find that you have $2 on your old bank account you haven't used in years. You wait for the liqour store to open to buy two more shooters. After about three days of hell you sober up enough to try and get a new job, you get it after a week. You get that first paycheck and celebrate with just a couple beers(because you've sworn off liqour) three weeks later you're back on the liqour and are starting to call out of work because you're drunk as hell even after a full night of sleep. You spend the days you call out getting drunk. You eventually lose the job. And the cycle goes on. This time you're to far behind in rent and become homeless though. Further sinking you down into the deep dark abyss.
Edit: I forgot the part that you regret giving your friend $5 of the original $16 you had, but you're actually a pretty nice person. You're just grumpy as hell because lack of sleep and the constant withdrawal and come off as an asshole.
