  • Its going to be easier wheeling the bike around if it has a side stand, so I'm fitting one today and also weighing the bike and measuring how LOUD it is as well.
    SOMEBODY IS GOING TO WIN ASBO - That's right, somebody who supports the QuickBikes channel and the bikes I'm building is going to be the proud owner of a completely custom built Suzuki Bandit Cafe Racer once it's finished. I'm giving away ASBO to celebrate hitting the 10,000 subs mark to somebody who supports the channel.
    To stand a chance of winning the bike once its finished, simply donate £10 to the channel using the PayPal link - www.paypal.com/paypalme/Quick...
    Where it says "What's this payment for?", enter "Supporting the channel". That way I know what the payment is for and I can make sure your name goes in my hat.
    You can donate as much as you like and each £10 donation to the channel will get you another chance to win the bike as you're supporting us that much more.
    If the winner is not in the UK, I can crate it up etc, but the shipping will be their responsibility. If you're in the UK, we'll be able to arrange something.
    Please, please, please like and share this video as it will be setting the budget to finish the bike and hopefully raise some additional funds so I can include some spanky bits in the build. The bigger the budget, the better the bike you might end up with.
    THIS IS NOT A RAFFLE...
    You won't get a ticket or a sticker in the post, but I'll publish a list of names regularly, so you know you you've been entered. Somebody who has chipped in will be randomly picked once the bike is finished and as a thank you for supporting us will be the proud new owner of ASBO.
    The very BEST of luck to you if you chose to join in and help support the channel 😁👍

    I could watch milling machines and lathes operating for hours, very calming and therapeutic, probably not the same affect/effect for the poor sod operating them though. 👍

    Hi there, just wanted to say I love how informative you’re videos are and how you explain what you’re doing, I’m not very mechanically minded but watching previous videos of yours have helped me do bits on my 99 bandit so thanks. I often drive past your place wondering if your in there tinkering lol. Can’t wait to see the finished bike. Keep up the great work 👍🏻

    I tell you quicky I had a nightmare getting my home built Rickman Bonneville through an SVA here in Newcastle. The pedantic examiner wouldn’t accept it was a 1960 ish cafe racer and insisted it had to be treated as a new bike, with all the bells and whistles fitted. With regards to the noise test it nearly failed with road legal silencers fitted, because some prat in a car some distance away had his engine running. I sincerely hope you have better luck but be prepared for some hassle from those people, cos in my case he tried his damnest that it should go on a ‘Q’ plate, which I refused to accept. I jumped through all sorts of hoops eventually getting an age related plate and documentation. Absolute BEST of luck with your exceptional build, a credit to your skills.

    • @QuickBikes
      @QuickBikes  Год назад +1

      Thanks for letting me know matey. To be fair, I don't really mind it going on a Q plate as it is a mish mash of bits from different bikes from different years, so it probably should be on a Q plate. It's more than everything has been built properly and the bike is safe to ride etc that I'm more concerned about. Thanks for watching matey 😁👍

    Sorry mate was going to add ,found when making side stand bracket that the stand go over centre when folded up ( not by much) . If the were left in the centre position a bump could cause it to snap down leading to much embarrassment and stains on ones underwear.

    Me again Quikie when we tried get loud exhausts passed I made db killer with an end cap with the opening pointing at the ground not sure how much difference it made but it did help. Remember every db is more or less double the previous one. Well done on the weight not a bad out come at all.

      It sounds better with the db killer in place as it's more mellow, but we need to see what the Dyno says. I need to monkey about with a few options and thankfully Simon has left the meter with me a few days to test it 😁👍

    A 7 to 8 kg weight saving over stock is pretty good mate. I reckon your rear shock ßhoild cope with that plus rider nicely. I made my R1 stand from ally bar turned n' tapered down. Not much weight saving but does look nicer than bog standard steel. The R1 block is alloy anyway just bolted together with hoofing great steel bolts which I changed for titanium. No problems after 2yrs. I've spent a small fortune on titanium bolts n' fixings, brackets etc most of which are self made.

    For the side stand switch can you not use a rear brake switch, so you can use a spring to turn it on when the stand is down and off when up. Then you can put it behind the frame and loose that box just a thought 👍👍 keep up the good work really enjoy your video's

What trackday are you thinking of doing? if you let us know, I'm sure I'm not the only one that would love to book the same trackday so we can see Asbo in action! They're proper fussy with noise limits n stuff on trackdays now. I think I'm right in saying the limit is 102db for most places. I'll have to see how we get on but would love to put ASBO round a track 😁

  • @richardhorton25
    @richardhorton25 Год назад

    For the MSVA test a stainless end can/pipe will do you no favours as the SS is a hard surface and will resonate, noise after all is simply pressure waves/vibrations in the atmosphere. If you have access to a carbon fibre can, simply because the can material is flexible and resilient it will absorb a couple of decibels. Decibel measurement is not a linear scale it is a logarithmic scale so 105 decibels is not 6 % more than 99 decibels it is something approaching 5 times the pressure wave (level of sound)

      You get point for keep stuff original like frame, wheels, engine, suspension etc and you need 8 points to keep the original plate without a test. I don't have 8 points as the only original stuff is the headstock and engine... Apart from that, i want an engineer's report done anyway to confirm it's all built properly as I don't see other folks doing that for homemade bikes (which I think is wrong).
