I’m Liam Harrison, Bolton born and bred. I’m a lover of Golf, life and laughter.
Started Golf 12 years ago after packing in football when i was 28 due to a back injury.
I started the RUclips channel as a laugh and a Wim, to make me practice but that went out the window as i started vlogging, loving being on camera but more so the interaction with my #golfmates.
In 14 months i have seen the channel evolve and become the only real golf community on RUclips which i am extremly proud of.
I would like to thank all the #golfmates that have been with us and supported us and the channel from the start. Also not forgetting our new #golfmates that may have only just come across the channel.

I'm 53, just started golf with my nephew, hooked is an understatement, your channel is a refreshing godsend to me. Its enlightening to see there's so many people that just love golf and dispels the stigma of expensive stuck up golf clubs. Keep going, chicken and rice..
So happy to see the place back open this has literally saved my summer, the pitch and putt course is also great for kids and beginners.

Looking forward to seeing you this summer we have big plans to improve the pitch & putt especially new mats, bins, signage....we have just purchased equipment specifically to maintain the pitch & putt plus we’re re-opening the refreshment hut in the next week or so. @@andrewterrygolf thanks for the info that all sounds great, especially the refreshments hut it was real shame when they closed it a few years back. How is the pitch and put holding up in the weather? I wouldn't mind nipping down to shake the cobwebs off and practice my short game sometime in the week weather permitting. Thanks for saving the course mate it means a lot to loads of people, I saw the video on Marland and that place looks great, will definitely paying that course a visit too.

That course needs supporting, looks spot on.
First course I broker 100 on, shot a 97 back in 2012. I'm a member at Withington, South Manchester now. I've played a number of courses in the North and in Wales and I've got to say, Heaton Park will always be my favorite. For the price, the condition all year round is sensational. It's the most exciting and unique course I've played (and I used to be a member of North Wales Golf Club if anyone's played there). It's not long by any stretch, but that's all part of the fun. There's a thousand places to lose a golf ball with some tight fairways and greens and so many hazards to hit over. There's a 18 hole par three course next door which is only £4/5. If this place had a practice area it'd be an unbelievable place, but it's still a 10/10.

Great to see it back open again, it's a cracking track, had my best ever score on there a good few years ago 74, was just one of them days when it all fell into place. The 15th I call the card wrecker, what a tough hole. Great video Liam & thanks for letting everyone know it's back open 👍

@@Marcucas I think for Golf to continue to survive it has to lose the stuffiness, dress codes and just encourage people to play. It would be a terrible shame as more courses close if people were saying at least we kept our standards to the end. What good are standards if there is no Golf?

Heaton Park was the first “proper” course I played at the beginning of my golfing journey, way too hard for my ability (or lack of) at the time, didn’t put me off though. The walk from tee to green on that par three was that long (especially after you had lost two or three balls off the tee) you needed a pie and a pint at the bottom of the valley to get you up the other side.
Great memories, good luck to them, hope HP goes from strength to strength.

Great memories of Heaton Park golf course where i learnt my golf as a youngster, nice to see its still going and in good condition.
Love how you champion some courses that have been struggling, this place looked superb and for the amount they are asking for a round of golf is tremendous value, who says golf has to be expensive....nice to see some quality golf from yourself and keep singing....⛳👍👌
Liam, Keep singing. Life is Life. Enjoy it while you can. Yes, definitely, a daily vlog from the states. As far as head covers go, they can be a bother but they will definitely prevent your clubs from getting scratched up. Your choice, mate!

Great story! I hate to see any golf courses closing. Good luck Heaton Park. They cannot close these beautiful old courses. Where I live they wanted to close these two 100 year old Donald Ross courses and build houses. Thank goodness their minds were changed and they are still open. Love the old courses!! If I wasn't 3,500 miles away I would love to play this course. Hope all the Golfmates get out there and support this course!!! Also yes to daily vlogs from Orlando!!!

We used to have 6 municipal golf courses in Glasgow open. A season ticket was just under £300 for all 6 courses!! The council is shutting 5 of them. They've neglected them for years. A sad loss. Great content again golfmate.

Have fun in the USA. Florida is a great place to vacation. Last year you came to The Masters and this year Orlando. The Orlando area is perhaps the most popular Winter/Spring vacation destinations in the States. So, you will have been to two big parties in the USA. But, if you wonder what ordinary life in the States is like, look around you. We live, love, laugh, cry, work and die. Pretty much the same as everywhere else. (Boy, that took a dark turn.) Have fun and thanks for the videos.

Sorry Rob, but Greg Norman was never at Heaton Park. I think this must be an urban myth. I have been a member of the club for 40 years. I was on the committee for 31 years, secretary for 14 years and a past captain. If he had been here, I would know abou it. Jack Nicklaus came here in 2010 and was very complimentary about the work being done for junior golfers. But no Greg Norman.
I'm a greenkeeper Liam and the main reason we put them on matts because there is no growth in the winter we get no recovery so in the summer fairways would be a real mess. Us greenkeepers are here to make your course as good as it can be for the golfmates

Just remember we used to call it heartattack heaton.Marland is a good track for the less fit.
Good work Liam, well done for bringing courses that need #golfmates support. I will add it to one of my "want to visit" places in Google maps -- filed under "golf". Might be a couple of years as I have 2 hectic years ahead with my current club. (Vice capt 20/21 and Captain in 21/22)

Good to see a golf course re-opening. I think sometimes some golfers won't go to these courses because they think its beneath them but like you said there is some cracking courses like this about. that 18th hole used to be the 1st hole when I played it in the mid 90s and it is like an assault course lol

Good luck to Heaton Park. I am a member at Seaford Head which is also municipal. It's a great course with magnificent views that is kept in great condition. I prefer it to the local 'private' club - which is also pretty decent - and it's a lot cheaper for membership. Don't knock municipal until you try it!
350 pound for year long 7day membership !!! if a course near me was doing that I would be there as would several of my mates can't afford the ludicrous price of near a grand for a membership.

Would love to see the "Golf Mates Hackers Tour" put this course and those like it on the list (a Golf Mates pick up golf league). Throw in a fiver, put in a handicap, select a format. Top three gets a % share of the kitty and then last place gets their fiver back. Just a thought, I sure would love to see it all play out.

I wish Heaton Park every success in the future it looks really beautiful for the time of the year, yes do a daily golf log from the USA because I’d like to see and hear from you all because I’m unable to attend many golf trips now so I’d like to see the lads enjoying themselves. Your golf is definitely better and I think before you were taking the wrong clubs for the distance you had have a look back and most times you were one club short. We all do it as amateurs think we hit our irons further than we really do remember most shots this time of the year until around May time are all carry. You sing like a Nighinpig but I’d never give you a thumbs down, come on lads Liam is trying to make you smile so no thumbs down don’t be nasty.

learnt to play golf on this course and its right on my doorstep ,played it on and off for years and got back into golf after 5 to 6 years out last year ,was absolutely buzzing when the course was saved as the previous rip-off merchants who used to scam most of the money were useless ,me and 5 of my pals have all jumped on the two course deal for £399 and play heaton park and marland regularly i played £38s worth of golf this week alone so shows you what a bargain it is and i will probably play £80s worth of golf a week once summers here ,awesome course and as the guy says it drains unbelievably well and can be played all year round ,keep up the good work andrew and joe and the rest of the team and good luck for the future

One of the first courses I played when I started in 1974, was a municipal in those days, the first two holes he played in this vlog are separated by a huge ravine full of Rhododendrons that in May is a sight to behold, very hilly, as are most of the courses in this particular area. Whitefield, Stand, Prestwich.
Stop throwing those clubs! Swing is looking good though, hopefully you can keep it up, be the worst 7 handicapper anyone has ever seen soon. And yes to the vlog!
