If your rookie is 70+, he's a solid pick for that position. If he's got a hidden trait, even better. I'm always rotating out older players, certain positions before others of course. QB, RB, WR, DB, and LB try to keep as long as I can, even if they hit 40, if they got good stats, they can play. Linemen usually get cycled out by age 30. 32/33 is usually the absolute most. Occasionally grab the random free agent 75-85 if they are age 32-37 for a season if I can't get a half decent rookie at minimum. Idk, I feel like offensive linemen are the hardest position to fill well without losing out too much on another position. Currently my line ranges from 73-81 with morale boosts, so not too bad, but 2 of the guys are 29 and contracts are ready for negotiation. Tough decisions.
I liked this alot! Although I will say atleast for me i like playing as the coach, playing owner can feel like I have a list of 100 chores I have to do each week and player just dosen't give me enough. Coach feels like that good balance
2008 franchise mode was 100x better than 2022 franchise mode. Ea doesn't put ANY love into franchise anymore, plus madden games suck ass nowadays. Have good sliders, don't use and abuse plays that you like, stick to your "gameplan" each week, control only one guy after the snap on defense, switch up the playbooks so you get different plays, simulate field goals.

The game AI actually accounts for holding onto points when it comes to contract negotiations. I checked to be sure, and it actually is cheaper to apply your points unless applying the points would make the player 84 or above. Save up your points and test it yourself. They'll actually want slightly less if you apply the points

Just random rule I implement maybe someone else likes. OVR Of my QB determines how many adjustments/HR/Audibles I can make at the line 95 up- unlimited 94-90-3 80-89-2 70-79 1 Adds a layer of building in FA.. incentivizes having a great QB even more. Drafting a 2nd round 70 qb may not always be the move as opposed to grabbing a decent starter in FA gameplay wise.

I struggle with this thing where in the franchise that im in, I have an 80 Overall team because for some reason there is -4 fatigue on all of my players which I should be like a 84 or 87 overall like my friends. But because of the fatigue I have only an 80 Overall team. Any suggestions?
Great video really appreciate the insights. Question, every franchise I run, by year 3 or 4 I run out of funds. I play online so I obviously can't just add 5mill to the bank. Do you have any tips on how to Financially run my franchise better besides the obvious ones?
Try to avoid signing players that are late in their career. Of course positions like QB are the exception but they usually want max contracts and a ton of money, but are likely to regress after 30 years old, which put you in a difficult situation financially. Also do not be afraid to use free agency after the draft. There are usually some good players left from free agency that only want 1 year deals and some diamonds in the rough left over from the draft that you can develop.
I always go in my depth chart and even set my special teams. You gotta know what depth position is a special teamer. There’s spreadsheets out there. Helps reduce injury

New update! If you have a previous franchise started before the scouting update then scouting points will be able to be used. Otherwise you just gotta get used to it

What’s a good “quarter length” to play in franchise mode? I play with 7 minute quarters but the ai controlled teams simulate at 12 minute quarters I think. So no matter how good my record be at the end of each season, my players stats are always significantly lower than the rest of the ai stats for players around the league. What’s a good quarter length for a more realistic and comparable stat line for my players at the end of the season?

I always have a great defense but somehow my defense always allowes a ton of yards a game I play on 15 min games I usually sim the games is it only my games that are 15 mins or the whole league
I think the league probably sims everyone’s stats on 15 mins, but you should cut down to 10-12 mins because on 15 that’s too realistic too many plays get ran and you’ll always give up a lot of yards.
Please reply, I like to rebuild teams with my cousins sometimes we do same division or not but we always just sim games. I build very good teams scheme fits , do the talent trees, draft well, but my team never wins.
Sim for madden franchise is VERY VERY inconsistent. A lot of times it is shear luck if you win or not. You are probably doing everything right, but the logic behind sim in Madden is just bad

Am I the only person who has managed to completely break the trade system using free agents? I can have any player on any team by trading draft picks, which I can then immediately recoup from them at no actual cost. Could also have literally every pick in the draft if I wanted to spend a day or two doing it. Surely this is not news, right?
Honestly man, it just takes time 2 get the salary cap figured out, realize franchise is meant 2 be played multiple years not just one seasons, so you have to think about the future
If you go to “Edit Character” after clicking on a player, you can adjust what they are paid. In my experiments, having a player’s salary at 3.98 Million for a four year deal with no signing bonus gets your cap back up. If you do it for all players, you will have a cap at around 150 Million.

I’m only a franchise guy and its so frustrating free agency is horrible bunch of big FA’S go unsigned the draft ai is pure trash and for some reason if u notice wr’s rarely get a 1k yards 🤦🏻♂️
make sure you invest in them using your coach's development slots, you get up to six if you fully upgrade the head coach skill tree! Other than that, try to get rookies with Star or better development and make sure they are used in the right scheme to maximize XP!

Only if you find a roster with him on it. Either you create it yourself or find one.

I play on 12 minute quarters with a 15 second accelerated clock. You’ll wind up with about 120 plays per game, which is about the NFL average.

No, not really. You could retire from a team, go to another and make trades, signings, etc happen.
You can user multiple teams and sim all the other games except the one you wanna play
