Thank you again for such a delightful video. I backed the kickstarter “all in” and still haven’t gotten around to opening it all yet. I was overwhelmed when the boxes arrived. We’ve started painting up the core miniatures and they paint up beautifully. Played the first scenario and had a blast. Lots of cinematic moments 😅. Cheers Mate.
I've been thinking about possibly getting this game, at least the core set, for several months now. I thought I might be able to get it during a Black Friday sale, but I didn't see it on sale at the retailers I looked at. I didn't realize there was this much other stuff for it. Looks really cool. I'll be watching for further videos. Thanks Peter.
Really great unboxing. Love your foam board insert vids too - I bet this one would be a challenge! (i have the kickstarter version, i feel it would be difficult!)
Really, apart from replacing the white cardboard dividers with a slightly more fancy foamcore tray, there's nothing here to do with the core box. Though I'm not sure how I'm going to store all the extra stuff!
Pete, absolutely agree with you and your comments about the miniatures. And yes, I think they are better than the core space miniatures. Great review. You've convinced me this is my next 'buy'. Merry Christmas buddy.
I'm just finished painting them and they're not going to win any miniature designs awards - especially the basic undead - but they're absolutely fine for this kind of game. Battle Systems are about the game and the terrain, not so much the minis - and I'd prefer these to super fragile spikey build-your-own ones in this case! Thanks for your well wishes and have a wonderful festive season mate - cheers!
According to Battle systems Maladum and Core Space exist in the same universe so you could conceivably bring your CS characters into Maladum and vice versa! The lore is that Maladum had an AI that went nuts and reverted the planet back into medieval era level of tech. Everyone's forgotten that they were once a technologically advanced society. The magic is actually nanotech and the mages are people who've figured out how to control the nanobots. All the races are aliens etc. Battle Systems really gives an amazing value for the money compared to the overpriced GW box sets. Also Battle systems has three terrain "Stargates" so I could see the storytelling potential already! Have fun! You've struck the jackpot! 😁
I was a bit disappointed when I saw the whole 'malacyte' explanation for magic as it smacked too much of that dreadful Star Wars prequel to me, but I guess that justifies it!
Wow, you sure didn't play it the way I did. It's not supposed to be an efficiency puzzle, it's a cinematic blast! Most of our games ended with the players turning on each other! 🤣
😭😭😭 I enjoy Core Space very much. However I prefer fantasy a touch more than Sci-Fi. I was going to back this, then decided not due to owning Core Space. Your unboxing has made me sad, that I did not back. Only bright side, I can pick and choose what I want by buying from their site, granted for a bit extra money.
These days I tend to prefer buying after the campaigns are over. It may be a bit more pricey, but you're not distracted by all the flashing lights and freebies and can make sensible decisions about what you'll actually play with.
So happy to see you unbox Maladum. The very first thing I thought, after my first game, was that this game needs a Universal Head play aid.
Your prayers will be answered, I'm working on it now. 🤣
This might be at the top my list of favorite dungeon crawlers now. Every scenario feels epic and there is so much stuff to loot!
Playing this week! Really looking forward to it.

Ahh, I do love a cinematic game. I've painted my core set too and I'm playing this Thursday night - looking forward to it.
What an amazing core set! Thanks for showing it 👍👍
No worries, you're welcome!

Do we expect most of these expansions to come to retail? Currently the latest release I’ve seen is the “Ale” expansion.
I'd get in touch with Battle Systems to find out.
I hope this is a bit better than Corespace. Corespace was like: Don't touch anything or shoot anything because then the spawns of enemies escalated.

@ Oh I was talking about first born, not the original. Oops
Haven't played that one.
😭😭😭

Just got mine about a month ago. So excited to get this painted, assembled, and then run through a campaign with my kids.
Me too! I've just finished painting the core set; they're pretty quick and easy to paint.
