In addition to the Giveaway question, I'd love to invite you to comment any other tips/tricks you think we missed or would benefit other players. Can you do an ironclad a20 card review? I know it all depends, but an overview of most possibilities and synergies for every card could be a very nice and popular video.

      @@DarknessOverpowering I probably wouldn't do a card review, but there will be a guide like this for every class eventually!

      If I understood you right, you said it's good to draw cards even if you don't have the energy to play them. I don't see how that helps - doesn't it just mean you won't have the option to play that card if it makes sense the next round? Thanks!

    • @InaBeta
      @InaBeta  2 года назад +3

      @@Travoid Like everything in this game, it depends. Ideally, you're using draw cards in the beginning of your turn to get to other things you want to play that turn (when you still have the energy to)
      Generally, drawing at the end of your turn is pretty fail, but if you look at your draw pile and see a bunch of garbage you just want to get past to get to your shuffle, then yeah you might want to even if you don't have energy left.
      My main point is that draw is an extremely powerful (maybe the most powerful) mechanic in this game and it's importance should not be understated. It has a variety of uses and when to utilize it will always depend run to run and turn to turn.

    So glad I found this channel. I've played this game for a total of over 100 hours. 92 runs, with only 1 "victory". The victory came from a custom run where I basically gave myself as much advantage as possible. On average, I typically only make it to about halfway through the 2nd act, or die early on in Act 3.
    Only a few weeks ago I realized that you shouldn't take every single card reward. My decks would end up so bloated and the really good cards were rarely drawn during fights.
    The main thing I learned from this video is to not avoid the elite fights, and to be better at balancing regular fights with mystery rooms. Up until now, I basically avoided elites as much as possible, and if I were given a choice between a fight or a mystery room, I'd always hit that question mark hoping for a relic.

    These are some good tips. You say in the pinned comment to give tips that we think you missed. I think that there are some higher level ideas that can earn small advantages that can turn a loss into a win. The first is that there are some relics such as nunchaku, ink bottle, and happy flower which will keep a counter between fights. It is generally good practice to set these up at the end of the fight when you can be a little more flexible with your card choices so that you can get their effects on the first turn (arguably the most important turn) of the next fight. Additionally, another concept that helped me was paying attention to when I used my draw cards. If you have 1 card in your draw pile, and you play a draw 2 card, this means that everything in your discard pile will go back into your draw pile. This means that all the cards in your hand are not getting shuffled into your deck meaning you will have to go all the way through your deck again in order to see it. For this reason, if you are in this situation and have a strong card that you want to play as often as possible, you should probably play it before the draw card.

Even perfect builds in our comfort zone can end in tears, lol, but if we had just experimented with a few different tricks instead of passing up on them, they would have made all the difference. Looks like I'll be going thru your channel to feed my obsession now :) Bro keeps telling me not to avoid elites all the time and now you're saying the same thing, guhhhhhh! (but... they're so scary!) I really really want to open the watcher and after playing like (I think at almost 100 omg) runs and FINALLY getting to the 3rd Act Boss...The Ancient One destroyed me. Since you know from the beginning of the Act which boss you'll be facing, if you run across a card that specifically counters that boss, it's often worth picking up. Cards like Fire Breathing for the Hexaghost, or Judgment+ vs the Collector.

    • @InaBeta
      @InaBeta  2 года назад

      Yep, this is a common strategy of more advanced players and dovetails with the advice of "add answers to your deck"; know what you could face in any act and add in things that will help you with those challenges.

    I struggled to beat my first run for many many tries. After watching this video I literally made it in my first try. I made choices I would normally never have made (such as the Snecko Eye, which randomizes any chance of winning in my eyes) and got cards that let me draw more cards. It seems I suck at strategy games. Anyway, thanks for this video, it helped me a lot

    • @InaBeta
      @InaBeta  Год назад

      Hey, you stumbled across some powerful synergies! Also, more card draw (especially innate as with Snecko Eye) is powerful for just about any deck.
      Snecko definitely doesn't randomize your chance of winning, just the cost of cards. In return, you get innate card draw and the ability to grab all the impactful, high cost cards you want without worrying nearly as much about energy (you still want more energy, but you care a lot less about a deck full of 3 cost cards as they will often cost less than that when drawn).
      Anyways, I hope you saw the power of these mechanics in play and can apply them to future runs! Additionally, don't beat yourself up; this is a really complex, difficult game to begin with and everyone struggles with it at times (yes, even the best of the best players). I have a lot of hours on this game, my favorite character is the watcher, I have killed the transient, I have gained over 12,000 money (I had golden idol and didn’t buy from shops that often, also old coin ceramic fish and money giving event) I have one hit killed a boss (I had prismatic shard, vajra, inflame, limit break, spot weakness, and heavy blade. Also this is how I killed the transient) not in one turn tho but it is still an accomplishment to one hit ko a boss, and I have beaten the act 3 final boss 4 times (A0 and across multiple weeks (Sunday)). also all that happened on the 1st day and similar things happened on the other 3.

    I started playing less than a month ago just because I got this game in a Humble Bundle and have heard a ton of good stuff about it. Tonight I played my first time on the 3rd class and so far, it is my favorite. This could be because I got super lucky. I picked up the top artifact as my 2nd or 3rd drop. I piled my deck full of 0 cost cards and a couple of the 2 cost ones that let you pull 0 costs back out from your discard. It was my first time beating the entire thing, even killing the last boss in like 3 turns. If you can pull the claw cards out and then continually pull more out, you can do hundreds of damage in a single turn.

    really, really great video! thank you for the tips, and also for the encouraging attitude! also, this is just a suggestion from a well-meaning internet stranger, but i would love a separate video going more in-depth regarding scaling - with some examples of good scaling, especially focusing on the first and second act. can't tell you how frustrating it is as a beginner to have the majority of my runs end at the beginning of the second act because i just plain don't have the scaling to quickly end even basic enemy encounters at that point. i think your advice regarding draw often being the biggest source of scaling in runs is also really interesting, and not something i considered before. thank you for a great video!

    Haven't gotten through a run yet, don't even know if there's more than 3 stages. Ive done maybe 20, 30 runs total. I assumed Ironclad was the games easy mode, so Ive been wanting to at least get the W with him.
    I ran an exhaust deck, to the point where half the time I couldn't remember what benefits I was getting from exhaustion, lol. I finally made it to the boss of the 3rd stage, and killed the MF. ...then he revived! All 300 health back. By that time, I had exhausted most of my cards, both skills with the skill exhaust power and cards that exhaust. So... of course I could only manage to get him down to 15 health or so before I fuckin died.

    This was really good stuff man! I'm around ascension 13 for most characters and I still feel like I learned a lot. I like the point you made about elites being the same difficulty regardless of when you face them in the act. Looking forward to more vids :)

    I really enjoyed the Silent on my playthroughs. Really though, as you say, it depends... on my mood when I launch the game. I also run the daily a lot so I get that random component even more. Thanks for the guide I appreciate you!
