The idea of Vampires having been partially wiped out by the plague, and influencing them to stop drinking from humans, is actually incredibly smart!!! Please keep this idea, it's genuinely the biggest-brain thing I've heard in a long time.
What if over the many generations the castle has been used for many different things over its many owners? Like what if one was really into bats and so used it to house bats or if one was really into history so it became a sort of museum for a time?
I love thinking of the dead trees as not a result of abandonment but actually a careful biome, like a vampire garden including cultivation of death and the life that flourishes among decay (like the mushrooms growing on the dead trees)
It's been ages since I've looked through Stellaluna! We have it on the shelves here at the library where I work, so future generations can continue to read it! Love the vampire castle! Ooooh...what if our little vampire inherited the castle and decided to set it up as a preserve for bats and stands on her balcony making all sorts of scientific observations about the native bat populations and how they help the native plants!
Me just minding my own business listening to the video Seri saying “just so charming and sweet” A car max ad turning on with extremely loud music ……SERIously ads!
Stellaluna was one of my favorite movies ever as a kid! I used to read a book called Darkwing about prehistoric bats and the main character is the first ever bat that can fly instead of glide, it had some surprisingly dark themes but it was SO COOL and I think about it a lot. I've gotta find it again!
What if they abandoned the castle because of a secret reason? Murder mystery??? What if somones still hiding in there from someone?? *my random thoughts.* 😅
So I just had an interesting thought...if a vampire can turn a human into a vampire by drinking it's blood (am I getting it right? I don't really remember much about these stories), then what happens if a human drinks a vampire's blood? Does the vampire turn into a human?
