    The first guy is right, Mcclean is a hypocrite, he doesn't mind making a living in England off English people, but when it comes to showing the country a slight bit of respect he decides to show disrespect. If an English sportsman making a living in Ireland done the same he would be driven out of Ireland, and rightly so. In England though we are way too tolerant of disrespectful hypocrites like Mcclean.

    • @shellyt5567
      @shellyt5567 9 лет назад +12

      Did your country men show respect here in Ireland when they murdered innocent Irish people for simply being irish? What do you expect the lad to do make his own currency is it because if was at home on the dole he'd have to take the same money yeah ? So what's your point. Ye cant invade a country and then demand respect. The fact is if the English leagues don't want him why are yer clubs buying him 😂 ye really are a sad bunch

    • @fraz6354
      @fraz6354 9 лет назад +2

      How long ago did England invade Ireland ffs? There's been bad on both sides, it doesn't change the fact that he is a massive hypocrite.

    • @fraz6354
      @fraz6354 9 лет назад +3

      So maybe he should think of another country to make a living?

    • @fraz6354
      @fraz6354 9 лет назад +3

      Deane Kane So you think showing disrespect to the country you live and make a living in, and to the fans of your club is fine? How would this go down if an Englishman playing GAA done the same to the Irish anthem?

    • @fraz6354
      @fraz6354 9 лет назад +4

      He turned his back on it and bowed his head, it was deliberate disrespect, and if an Englishman done the same in your country I would be equally disgusted. If your willing to live and make a living in another country, the very least is you show that country some respect. If your politics mean you have so much of a grudge you can't do that, then you are a hypocrite by staying there.

    Ireland is a much richer country per capita, but they don't invest in the game like the Brits do. Bohemians are semi-professional as are much of the I-League teams. That's why he plays in England.
    As for the "West Brits" comment? More like "North Swiss". Ireland is minted.

    I support McClean but at the same time I’ve always viewed the poppy as a symbol of remembrance for those who died in the first two world wars and those who died in recent conflicts. I don’t think a lot of British people are aware of what British soldiers did in the North so I think it’s understandable that some people, particularly those who have relatives who died fighting for their country to be upset. If I were in England I would wear the poppy for those brave people who died, I wouldn’t even think about the ‘soldiers’ up North as I view them as War Criminals. That’s just me personally though, I understand McClean’s opinion and he’s a great servant to our country.

    I don't like James I think hes a self righteous self entitled egotistical attention seeker. But that's just my opinion based on his behaviour.
    Now that aside let's look at the situation.
    James McClean has chosen not to wear the poppy and not acknowledge the british national anthem.
    Because of as he claims the problems he faced growing up in Londonderry (Derry). Now if we choose to ignore the FACT that when he played for N. Ireland u21 where he wore a poppy and proudly belted out god save the queen with his hand over his heart. Then we can avoid calling him a liar and an attention seeker.
    So let's ignore that fact.
    Now he has decided to not wear the poppy, as a man who is half Irish and half English and proud of both... I choose to wear the poppy because it has NOTHING to do with the trouble in Londonderry but that's my choice. James McClean has made his decision and his decision should be respected and acknowledged. His reasons might be factually incorrect but his decision is his and that's his right we should respect that.
    As far as the national anthem goes. James does not have to like it or sing it, he quite rightly can denounce it as not his. However turning your back and behaving the way he did is very unprofessional. As a professional footballer regardless of your opinions and beliefs you respect and opponents national anthem. You don't have to like it just respect it regardless of the nation. Example: if an English player is playing in a German or Irish competition should he respect their national anthem or insult it? Exactly he should respect it. Respect goes both ways and James needs to learn that.
