the difference between LED and LCD screens is that LED is the light source, while LCD needs a neutral white backlight which is then "filtered" through the LCD layer to control color and intensity. So in this case I assume you have 3 different LCD filters (one for each basic color) that adjust the intensity for each pixel, and the backlight being the three different colored laser beams, originating from the single white beam, which is turned white using blue laser and some phosphorus (as a side note, LEDs also emit blue light which is adjusted to be white using phosphorus, and then additionally colored/filtered if needed)
