Those turned out WONDERFUL. I agree with you. Your flip and lip technique with that pouring medium and the way you have discovered to layer your cup way surpasses any blooms. I am a bit tired of the bloomers. Everywhere I turn it’s the same old bloom technique. Gag me with a bloom!

Your live was such fun to watch. How great the painting came out. This color palette is amazing. Love it. It is so helpful to hear your critique. You had to work to get the 8 x 10 to cooperate but you did it. This palette is the bomb. Thank you for another great video. I hope your governor is making the right move for you folks having schools open back up. Your state has yet to peak. Positive thoughts that you and your family stays safe and well.

I wanted you to make more of the same colors and pour some more. I love how different each is. I thought you said we would see from your viewpoint, but we were still on the other side of the counter. The drop-through-the-well effect was fun.
I screwed it up during editing. Two of the four are from my vantage point. I have a commission to make 3 more in those colors; maybe I’ll film it!

So Happy to find a video where someone was using strictly pigments. I see that I use the same PM recipe as you do but I thought they were too thin, but I am still working on consistency so now I see someone that can make them work without using tube paints or some opaque paints. One reason I thought they were too thin is that my CA would sink if I put it on a pigment. But, I was using a 4:1 ratio with AUS floe. Anxious to try again with your CA recipe and hoping my CA doesn't sink now. Thanks!!

I believe that when you tap the bottom of your cup to help release the paint from your flip and lip, that may be creating your center candy affect.
hi Karen, I was so inspired after being on while you were doing the live pour. (I have been watching you for months and love your art and your commentary. ) that I have attempted my first pour today... I tried a flip and lip dirty pour... I learnt a lot of things ... watching and doing, are two different beasts for sure. The second one was a big flop and scrapped it... but you have to break eggs to make omlettes right.

Spectacularly awesome work, Karen. Thank you for sharing your love of art. Is there some important difference in the makeup of housepaint an (for example) Artist Loft white paint that makes one "work" and the other not?
Acrylic and latex paints are each actually made from acrylic resins. ... Latex paints are water-based, while acrylic paints are chemical-based. While acrylic paint will generally last longer than latex paint, latex paint is more frequently used for painting houses, while acrylic paints are used for art projects.
@@WaterfallAcrylics Thanks for the clarification, but would making the pillow base with Artist Loft result in markedly different results than a house paint? If so, which in your mind is really superior?
I haven’t tried it because I worry about the different drying rates and the way the cells/paint stretches with the house paint. The consistency for both PM and house paint is so similar. You’d have to be pretty accurate to do that with the Artists Loft Flow Acrylics.
I stopped mid-video to go out and try this. I didn’t get your cells and they didn’t hold through tilting. Nothing new about that... But, I love the blending and watercolor effect. Thanks for a couple of hours of entertainment! I’m back now to finish the vid. Thanks!

Hey, LOVE being able to see (at 12:07) from your viewpoint, great idea, hope you do it this way from now on! ... makes it a lot easier to understand why you make the choices you do...ooops, what happened, you went back (22:49) to the other side...was that intentional? ... really like looking over your shoulder instead! (from your comments at the end about the 'new format' I am thinking you meant to keep us on the same side as you... hope so!) I think those weird "candy" designs you don't like are a result from the paint dripping straight down from the very center of the cup, after most of it has run down the sides... I think when you tip the cup as you are pouring it doesn't happen so much, if you want to avoid those. Like all 3, love the color choices!
First time trying this--I put together 10 video snippets where I had to flip the orientation so I probably missed one or two.

what do you use to create the cells? someone i keep missing it in the videos. i haven't seen you use silicone or any other oil. thank you
There’s no oil involved in the SheleeArt technique. The cells are caused by the reaction of adding the cell activator (Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Titanium White or Black) with the rest of the colors.
@@WaterfallAcrylics does it have to he Australian floetol? And the Amsterdam paint? Curious what is in them that.causes the reaction? I love your videos! I just recently found your channel
Lola Taber It doesn’t have to be but they work the best. There’s an extra ingredient in the Australian Floetrol not found in American Floetrol, and no one really knows why Amsterdam paint is so reactive to it; it just is.

Can I please ask as a beginner, when you say cell activator is that just black or white with floetrol or do you add silicone as well ? I understand the cell activator is a little thinner so the cells come through, right ? Thank you
If silicone is added I mention and list it on the screen. I mentioned in this video that no silicone was used. When you watch videos involving the SheleeArt pouring medium/technique, just know that there will never be silicone in any of those recipes. Yep, when the CA is slightly thinner there’s a better reaction in the cup!
