I just noticed Krist going “you alright?” to Dave when they’re getting ready for the first interview. He was always doing what he could to watch out for them and keep energy and moral up even when things were starting to crumble. Definitely the papa in charge as Kurt described him as. Very empathic and gentle giant of a man who cares deeply for everyone around him.
You can feel the bitterness behind Dave and Krist words during the second interview (cf Kurt's sloppy playing, Krist' opinion about cynicism, Dave saying "it's up the air", "kind of a mystery... to us" etc). They clearly came to a point where they all knew the band was falling apart and Kurt's addictions and habits bothered them a lot.
He had a lot going on legally around this time, involving magazines writing things about him. I partially believe that if he really did commit suicide, it had a lot to do with the inability to balance everything. We all know what it’s like when work follows us everywhere we go. The burnout becomes intolerable, heroine just making it worse. You can tell he wanted to quit, but just couldn’t.
I appreciate krisdt. He’s so important for the way Nirvana is rounded out with the cynically driven side of punk and then the unconventional silliness with his relentless ego less awkwardness. Lastly I then point to the brotherhood and loyalty to the band that he with Kurdt crafted and It is a beautiful thing.
Kurt was not in video interviews anywhere on this tour. His last interview was over the phone with Fender magazine. Sad to see Krist and Dave in all those two-man interviews, they had no idea what was ahead of them.
World Tour of the biggest band in the world. His wildest dreams of being a Rock N Roll star came true and it was all ruined because of his addiction. Imagine how hopeless he must of felt after cancelling the tour to go home and get high... cancelling your dreams, letting everyone around you down. I can understand why he killed himself.
@@JBrooksNYS The way you put this, "cancelling the tour to go home and get high.." really hits. Cuz I'm sure there was a point where he saw through his own denial and ego and realized that's where he was at, and how lonely of a feeling that must be.

I think that’s actually why I don’t fully remember exactly where I was when I heard it even though I was a big fan.
Kurt didn't OD on heroin in Rome. He had too many "roofies" in his system which were a prescription of Courtney's. It was Courtney that slipped her prescription pills into Kurt's champagne 🍾. Courtney tried to kill Kurt in Rome.
I remember being furious when I heard in the February that he had tried and failed to take his life, as if he were trying to scare me/us. The relations between the Kurt and Krist/Dave got worse after Kurt changed the publishing in 1992. Drugs were a divison too. But to me the vibe in interviews was still great right up till the end - the Kurt Loder MTV interview in October '93 was hilarious and the final Kurt interview (Nardwar) in January '94 was light and fun. Things deteriorated very quickly as Kurt and Courtneys relationship got strained in February '94. She was supposed to fly out to meet him on the Euro tour but kept delaying it. Eventually it emerged she was hanging out with Smashing Pumpkins in London. Kurt was miserable and pissed off and concerned she was cheating on him with Billy Corgan (her ex). She missed Kurts birthday and the Nirvana tour lasted about a week after that - Kurt wanted to cancel the tour, but stuck it out for the Slovenia date which loads of Krists Croation family were due to attend, then deliberately blew his voice out at the next gig so they could postpone/cancel the dates without losing too much money. Kurt and Courtney finally met in Rome, but things were frosty and he took an OD. He recovered from the coma and they all went home and re-scheduled the dates. For the rest of March Kurt numbed himself into oblivion with heroin. He was heartbroken and lost his motivation for the band and wanted to cancel Lollapalooza and pause everything. Management and Courtney staged an intervention in late March to try and convince him to do the tour and quit heroin. Kurt reacted badly to this. He had a half-*ssed attempt at rehab, gave up after a few days and killed himself a week later. Lessons: - Dont cheat on on your spouse (or let them think you're cheating) - Drugs make everything much more difficult - It's ok to take a long break from your job if you're miserable and need some time to recuperate.

Krist is Kurts old friend and it comes across in this interview! You can tell with retrospect that things are not going well. Krist is trying to keep moral up,dave is being dave.
At 0:56 it seems as if they really didn't want to be there. Interviewer: "Together. Together alone..." The close-up of Chris is heart-breaking. It's like when you go to a family gathering and people ask how your partner is and you say "Good," knowing that things aren't good between you two...

Crazy to see them still being their typical selves when the band was slowly running out of steam.. Kurt at this point of February of 94 was on a different planet than the rest of the band
I don't blame him for not showing up. It's pretty lame having to pretend to be "pals" with these radio people. Krist and Dave could handle it because they were naturally goofy and hilarious. Kurt was funny too, but more privately funny. Imagine being exhausted already and your Record Label promised some radio station in some foreign country that you'd show up on one of your days off and have a camera shoved in your face with a hundred repetitive questions behind it. I wouldn't show up either. Can't blame him.
I doubt Kurt was taking some kind of principled stand against radio interviews (earlier in his career he was clearly fine with them, and he definitely had a goofy side to him too), but he was just seriously unwell in many ways at this time. He could have been high, he could have been withdrawing, he could have been doubled over with stomach cramps, he could have been confined to bed with crippling depression, or some kind of combination of the above. He was just fucked up.

Now I’m in 5th Course of Piano: I have to study more than last year, when I was in 4th Course!!!!!!!!!!!!:)XBárbara L.G.❤️🎹❤️
Dave wants to wear kurts jacket.
Ps: its up in the air about the future of Nirvana.
This interview has a few tell tells..
Kurt was having huge issues at this time. It's so heartbreaking.
5:12 was perfect hahahahah Didn't know Dave could sing opera
Two months after this, almost to the exact date, Kurt was gone.
8:26...That would of been awesome !! Lollapalooza 1994 was the best line up
Krist is Kurts old friend and it comes across in this interview!
Oh wow! I did't know that this video lasted so long...
We are family
Damn krist look absolutely amazing during 94, so handsome 😭
It's really sad to hear them talk about their plans for the summer that year, what a shame
La última vez que estuvieron en Madrid. Kurt lamentablemente ya nmo acudía a las entrevistas. Mientras, escribía sus diarios en los que hablaba de su adicción a la heroína...
Crazy to see them still being their typical selves when the band was slowly running out of steam.. Kurt at this point of February of 94 was on a different planet than the rest of the band
Wow, the audio of this interview is really good. Masterpiece of engineering.
its not if 1994 was the stoneage, i know dumb millenials/generation lost think it was
@@klaasj7808 What the hell has the bad audio of this interview got to do with when you were born? I think old and young realise that it sucks.
Crazy that Kurt was over both of these guys by this time. I can kinda see why tho
Kurt wanted to do drugs period. But yeah those guys seemed over it already.
I don't blame him for not showing up.
It's pretty lame having to pretend to be "pals" with these radio people.
Krist and Dave could handle it because
they were naturally goofy and hilarious.
So edgy lol, Kurt simply wasnt friends with Dave and Krist here anymore for acting like a heroin brat and trying to fire them from Nirvana
Bro there wasnt that much thought put into it. He was just holed up somewhere shooting up. If he hadnt killed himself he would have gone the way of Layne Staley
Joaquín Luqui anda por ahí, qué tiempos...
He was killed less than two months after this
fkn sucks they were really ontop of world
Krist was extra cute here I love his outfit
I call b.s. on him meeting Kurt. He gave ZERO details.
Not surprised kurt didnt go 😂 a headache
