We were fortunate to be there to see this full size replica sail into Whitby harbour. We also took advantage of having a tour of the Ship through all its decks. Beautiful but very cramped conditions. Almost every adult had to stoop below decks, must have been very hard work for the Crewmen

I was on the Endeavour Replica as voyage crewmember when she crossed from Vancouver to Hawaii, back in 1999. My husband and I visited Whitby to see where she began.

I can’t believe it was 16 odd years ago. I sailed her from Fishguard round to Falmouth great time. 😊 then Bermuda to the virgin islands. 😊😊😊

It's a pleasure to share this and the Turk video with you and all of the people who missed it, or just want to watch again and remember the wonderful sight of them sailing into wonderful Whitby Harbour. Yes, Endeavour fired a canon when she'd passed through the swing bridge, we were just crossing the road there and a chap in front of us ducked so quickly and so low we thought he'd been shot! Looking forward to being there in June.

I owned the Quarterdeck with my husband when the Endeavour first arrived in May 1997.. i remember the tears in my eyes that came from nowhere.. it just looked so spooky and real!

Glad you like the videos, pity the Endeavour isn't coming back. I was in Whitby over the weekend, the Grand Turk was back after being away a few weeks.

Lovely video...very atmospheric! I visit Whitby regularly but missed this amazing sight, i bet a few people ducked when the cannons fired! It's such a shame now The Grand Turk has been sold and moved on. Still a beautiful town well worth a visit. Thanks for sharing. Paula x

It was really great to see, and so many others going especially to see the return like us. It's very pleasing to be able to share the video to remind those who were there, and for those who didn't see, to be able to see how it was. Thankyou for taking the time to comment.

This is a replica of the ship which discovered new Holland, now Australia, with captain James cook and 93 other men on board such as joseph banks

The pipes and drums music - what is the title? - I found the tune very fitting for the arrival 'back home' of a long lost icon.

No I am not a seafaring person, just a regular visitor to Whitby. I looked around on RUclips to see what there was of the Endeavour, and decided to put the return on from my old vhs tape. We went there specially for it.

No, the film isn't speeded up, the ship does have two 405-hp, 6-cylinder Caterpillar diesel engines though.

Yes, Endeavour was a Whitby Cat, as to the Bark or Barque bit, can I refer you to Wikipedia for the explanation, thanks for watching.
