@@charlespg3d190 dude, it's a grandmaster game. every small advantage and disadvantage counts. and ding's playing against GMs, not just that, but possibly the best GMs of this generation too. what, you think that -1.2 is gonna turn into a +2 after a move or something? these guys are like machines, when they're at peak condition, they don't make mistakes. i'd resign too if i was playing against someone that good and doubly so when i'm not in my best condition, which ding clearly isn't

@@mr.a109 The whole point of Fischer Random is to remove the necessity of memorizing opening lines. Getting the standard starting position would defeat the purpose.

@@mr.a109 Why is it being one of 960 possibilities important? If the position defeat's the purpose of the competition, then the position is filtered out. This is the spirit of Fischer Random.

About the talking thing at the beginning of a round, climbing athletes do the same in sport climbing and bouldering world cups. They get to see each boulder/route for ~5 minutes and can talk to each other about what they think should be done in each particular climb.

I like this better, I like the variance so players dont use abc everytime there is a certain attack, now there are more variables that don't allow generally people to make silly moves. there is more defense on the mind now.

Ding has literally JUST returned to competitive chess. This is his second tournament since coming back from his illness. Let’s not overreact when he was literally gone for 8 months. It’s gonna take a while for him to play himself back into form.

@@joykenn9772 I’m not making excuses I’m pointing out context. Everyone can see that he’s playing incredibly poor but no one is giving context why. If he’s still playing this poor in about 4 months from now then it’s gonna be a serious issue but we don’t know what his form will be at that time. People are just writing him off way too early.
@@jordanalford2825 If he isn't in shape for the World Championship (which at the moment certainly isn't the case). Then there is a big chance he might retire all together with chess (I am afraid to think so, but I kinda believe this might happen).

It's just fischer random, It's all random no pre-game memorization or extensive opening theory.
I think the rapid section was for the players to get used to chess960 format as they are not used to it or were not preparing for it
It’s actually chess 958 in this tournament, they excluded the normal starting position and the one where just the king and queen are swapped.
King and queen swapped would be interesting to see
@@mr.a109 it's just a mirror image of the original position so normal openings will work if you just flip it to the other side. eg Italian game d4 d5 nc3 nf6 bf4
@@mr.a109 The thing is, swapping the king and queen would mean that all opening knowledge could still be applied (just, each move would need to be mirrored). This would defeat the purpose of Fischer Random chess, since the whole idea is to remove opening preparation so that the players can focus more on their own skills (rather than relying heavily on memorization).
This man barely edits his videos and still makes me watch them.

The value of this early non counting tournament is it is so much fun. It is a show more than lots of tournaments, and it sure was that. So far. It was a little late when I got online and I thought, watch the tournament or get straight to Levy. Easy and best choice, great video Levy.

Magnus has never been dominating at anything other than classical chess. There was one puzzle challenge video released recently with super gms and and Magnus was one of the worst.
