Thanks for the video. I watched in anguish yesterday as my running mates set their watches to interval training mode. I successfully set my speed intervals on my Garmin Venu watch after watching your video.
How does the watch notify you of intervals? So if you want to run for 2 minutes and walk for 30 sec, how does the watch tell you to start and stop each interval? Also, does the app record and display starts by interval?
Hi Paul! When you’ve got around 5 secs left in each interval it’ll do 5 smaller beeps to count you down. At commencement of the next interval it’ll do a large beep and vibrate. A summary is provided in Garmin app of all the splits (for example how far you ran in each 2 min block).
If the way on the vid doesn’t work, try these steps in the link. Good luck! www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-F41EAFB3-6CC9-42DE-9C6C-9E358DBB0671/EN-US/GUID-6EC17A6A-ECF6-4620-AE7D-9BCD0114ED1C.html
Great video thanks, ive just moved from Apple to Garmin so excuse me if its a repeat question. I'm trying to add a Fartlek, with time and intensity goals, I.E. run for 3 minutes at 5:00-5:20 per KM, followed by a 1:00 recovery, run 2 minutes at 4:30-4:50 per KM followed by recovery Etc. When i press save, it deletes the intensity part and transfers to my watch without the pace goals. Is this a software fault?
I just tested your plan and it worked for me?! I’m assuming you’ve done this but the run segment should have duration type as ‘time’, duration as 3 mins and then intensity target set on ‘pace’ with the speeds above? Then add steps and repeat for your second pace goals. I’d suggest updating your watch and phone software in case it’s glitching.
Thankyou, created great video, I would like to know that can I run with HRM pro plus without using any watch, if yes, then what will the process.please suggest.
Are you going into the workouts section (once you’ve already entered the area right before you start your run) and it’s not there? Make sure you’re sending it across from your app to your watch and then syncing it. Also just make sure you’re going to the ‘workouts’ area on the watch instead of ‘intervals’. Let us know how you go!
I tried your set of instructions to create a custom workout. In my case it was exclusively strength training. As soon as tried to save the workout which included a Warmup, Dumbbell Floor Press (3 Rounds/Sets - 8 Reps) Recover (1.5 minutes between each Set) and a Cool Down; I got the following error message “Please select an exercise for each step”. I have no idea how to select an exercise in the one and only Step in my abbreviate workout. I have 5 other exercises I wanted to include with similar number of sets/rounds and repetitions but it doesn’t even work for a single exercise. Any idea(s)?
hey mate this is a link to our instagram where we ran through how to set up a gym program! It's still a bit of a clunky garmin feature, but hope this helps! instagram.com/reel/C2T-yjJr6oO/?igsh=MXEyM2JoenNidnI5dA%3D%3D
Without getting into Garmin Connect , I can do this work directly from watch .. Run , Training, Intervals and can customize work ,rest either based on distance or time. So how pre feeding from GC useful ( agreed there are more options there ) ?
Good for more control over content rather than just perfectly structured repeats. Can also base it off calories, heart rate etc, so more variety. But if you’re going for speed then the watch is a great move!
On your phone you'll need to click on the workout and sync it to your watch! then go to your watch - Select run -> hold 'Up' button -> Training -> workouts Hope this helps!
Although my Garmin Forerunner 245 is connected and the compatibility confirmation is positive during the sending process, the workout I built does not appear on the watch. What is wrong? Maybe some basic setting?
@@ThePhysioBros By trial and error I succeeded! In the app I enter the training into the calendar. Only then it is available in the watch and only on the relevant date.
Great video. I may have missed this; what is the maximum number of repeats? My ancient forerunnner lasted thru out a marathon (& I am slow runner). I changed over to Fitbit and it had quite limited number of repeats. And now, Apple decided to not and will not program for interval/repeats. Thank you! (I use the 4" run/1" walk and it's so much better for my knees). Thanks again.
Is there a way to make it vibrate/buzz so I don't have to keep looking at my watch? I set up treadmill intervals, but it doesn't remind me to switch so I have to keep checking it. My old TomTom watch vibrated between sets of run/recover.
Hi! Yep - go into your ‘System’ settings > sounds > alert tones and select ‘during activity’. You can also scroll down and turn vibration on too. Hope this works!
Really appreciate this video! Does the watch provide audio cues after each interval without you needing to look at your watch? If so, does come through headphones over any music you might be playing? This is what I'm looking for.
Have you tried a software update on the watch / phone? If not, you may need to get in contact with Garmin - some devices are more prone to these sync errors
Thanks, this is single worst piece of software on my watch. The amount of time it takes to get a workout to run on my watch is really a pain that should not be there. At least its not the fenix 8, have heard nothing but absolute disaster stories... anyone recommend anything else?
Do you know how incredibly helpful this was? I've been staring at my Forerunner 55 in terror for two weeks, flummoxed as to how to make it do an interval workout with me...But now I've got my 1200s programmed in! Quick question, if you'll permit me: When I go out and run my 4x1200s, will the watch automatically track and record my times for each repeat so that I don't have to look down at my watch and do the fast math to figure out how long each one took? If you're still answering Qs for this vid, I'd appreciate any insights! Thank you in advance!
Hi Kim! Yep, the watch automatically tracks your times. It’ll give you a timing for each interval when you finish it (real time feedback) and you can go into the app afterwards for a more detailed breakdown of splits! Glad we could be of help!
@@ThePhysioBros Oh splendid, Bros! Thank you for taking the time to address my comment, and for making the videos! I just discovered you two yesterday, and I’ve been sampling from the archive since. Loved the ones on ankle rehab and sprinting; looking forward to more!

Sure is! Sorry for the slow response. But just add steps to your workout and drag them into your repeats so there’s 4 different steps in there and then repeat it 8 times. Hope it worked!
Thank you for the video. I learned a few things, but I still can't solve my problem. I'm one of these meditation types and the only thing I want is to set up an interval timer with three vibrations and a buzz. So for example, I want it to vibrate once every 15 minutes for 45 minutes. And then at the 45-minute mark, I want it to buzz or ring. That's all. So far, the best I can do is to have a noisy alarm go off every 15 minutes, and then at the end of 45 minutes have three noisy alarms go off in a row. That's not so comforting. There must be a way to have the watch do what I would like . . . I just can't figure out what it is. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
Hi there - I’ve had a look and sadly I haven’t found a solution for you! You can definitely make a workout based off time slots but I don’t think there’s a way to customise the sound of the alerts that you get for the intervals. Hope you can find a solution!
i cant seem to do anymore than 2 steps on repeat. What am I doing wrong? When I do multiple steps and then select repeat it doesnt repeat those steps and creates a whole new bracket of steps to repeat, again only 2 steps
I hate that you need to build the workout ahead of time. I am not training for anything, so I do not have a structured schedule. I may show up at the track and just want to do 300M repeats or I may be feeling really good and do a ladder of 2x600 2x400 2x200 2x100 1x800. It seems to me I should be able to hit the track button run, then hit a button again for recovery time to click, and then hit the track button again for lap #2. This is way over thought process... good video but disappointed in Garmin's lack of flexibility
