The rescued Circus Trees are AWESOME!!! ALWAYS love a rescue of an iconic living roadside attraction!!! It is the right n only thing to do with living tree art!!!
I’m a born and raised Gilroy girl and I still live down the street from that mural. I remember the opening weekend of Gilroy Gardens back when it was “Bonfonte Gardens” and it definitely looks like it’s been worn in. I haven’t been in over 15 years.
I love that you find fun in a vegetable decorated amusement park !!! You are the best and ALWAYS bring a smile to my face !! Grandkids were lil monsters today. I take care of my 8 yr old grandson and my 3 yr old twin granddaughters during the day for about 10 hours. It is tough with the twins , one is crazy In morning and the afternoon the other is crazy. Its like they tag team me ..then i get them settled and big bro comes in the room acting like he is a gorilla and gets them screaming again ..headache inducing for sure. I needed peace so I looked for a new video from you , hoping it wasnt dark ride related today. Hee hee hee. I survived the day somehow❤❤❤❤
I have to tell myself that this kind of amusement park is ok too. If I went there expecting the typical theme park experience, I'd be really disappointed and bored, but wow the nature and scenery is really beautiful. You've gotta go to take in the gardens. The weirdly overly mellow vegetable rides are just a curious little bonus.
The round boat ride meandering so smoothly through the beautifully relaxing gardens of the 🌈 Rainbow Gardens is WONDERFUL!!! For a person like myself, who can not walk that far but would love to see the gardens, it is the TOTAL PACKAGE!!! Great variety n very creative vegetables n fruit turned into rides!!! Excellent concept n design!!! Attaboy, Gilroy Gardens n Carpetbagger!!!

The hot air balloon ride is a GREAT IDEA CUZ it can acclimate you to how an actual real up in the air balloon ride would be to see if you might like to try it, VERY unique!!!
This place actually looks really fun and peaceful to me. I'd like it because I get motion sick on rides that are too fast moving. The paddle boats were adorable! Thanks for sharing!

I was born and raised in Salinas. I worked for Nob Hill Foods for 32 years. Michael Bonfante previously owned NHF and built Bonfante Gardens which new owners call Gilroy Gardens. I miss California.. This was a nice video to watch.
That park was originally named Bonfanti Gardens when it opened and the founder was Michael Bonfanti, it’s sad that they removed his name from the park that was his dream.

Glad you enjoyed the park, always been one of our favorites. When it was Bonfante Gardens, companies could rent it for corporate picnics ... what a blast! Visited the cicus trees as a kid, when they were in original location, next at Lost World ( dinosaur themed park), also went to Santa's Village ... all of Hwy 17 in ghe Santa Cruz Mts. Those were the good times! Always enjoy your videos. By the way, though we LOVE garlic, don't care for the garlic ice cream either! Best, Rich (& Brenda, who loved the gardens, too!)
Worth mentioning that the Circus Trees are over 70 years old. They've filled in quite a bit and their original designs are less defined. Eventually they will just look like regular trees!

Speaking of change, I don't like how much they are investing into the water park sections. I was really bummed when I found out they removed the rock maze for the sake of more water areas. They should really fix up all of the animatronics, too.
I used to have a season pass to Gilroy Gardens. I don’t mind the garlic ice cream. But then again, I tend to prefer savory over sweet and have enjoyed purple yam and cardamom ice creams too.
They sure love garlic so do I have you had the jar of garlic at Bucees it was great I was skeptical but it tastes good. Have great trip on the west coast hope to go that way one day soon.

I can't believe they let people ride those swans without supervision, cuz they don't know whether you have the ability to drive one n it seems dangerous to me, especially by yourself!!! GREAT job!!!

This was Michael Bonfante's dream project - he was the owner of Nob Hill Foods (small supermarket chain) before selling it to Raley's. I remember when this was simply a corporate picnic ground called "Hecker Pass - a Family Adventure." Then it became "Bonfante Gardens," soon to become "Gilroy Gardens" upon its sale.
The veggie and fruit show is pretty cute. It definitely needs some maintenance though. Some of the animatronics weren’t working the last time I saw it.
I had the garlic ice cream when we drove through Gilroy in the 90s. I tried the chocolate garlic ice cream. It tasted like chocolate ice cream with a garlic bite at the end.

In Brazil I tried roasted corn and purple sweet potato (2 seperate flavors) ice cream and it was served on a hamburger bun, instead of in a cone or cup. I wasnt brave enough to try the roasted garlic flavor tho! Great video as usual Jake
