  • I'm fly fishing a creek in Wyoming and have success using a rig that went against traditional wisdom. The conditions were tough...bright blue bird skies, low, clear water with not much flow and fish everywhere. I started with subtle rigs...even went down to a size 18 dry that I had success using in Colorado when conditions got tough but quickly learned a different tactic was needed. Definitely wasn't what I expected so maybe it'll work for someone else!

    Wow, that to me is the absolute perfect trout stream. Quality water, plenty of oxygen, premium riffles with prime drop-offs, clearly tons of juicy insects, and infinite shelter/holding water. The type of stream that never gets old. Loaded with super healthy cutts, browns, and whitey tighties, with some real chunkers mixed in. There's just something epic about catching loads of 10-14 inchers and then hooking into some true small stream trophies in the 16-18 inch class with a 4 or 5 weight rod. That 16" to 18" fish in a small stream is like a 24"-28" hog out of one of the premier western tailwaters.
    Awesome video, as usual, sir.

    Another great video Drew. I'm a Colorado native and have been to Wyoming twice in the last couple years and I have struck out miserably. I thought I did my homework and found only very few and small fish. I've decided to just stick to what I know, Colorado. You my friend have a knack for finding good locations. Honestly, how many creeks are a bust? Thanks again for sharing.

    I prefer stream fishing! Something about it is just better than lake fishing. The freedom of being out there alone finding the holes to fish, catching that dream fish, the fight in the fish is different! It’s just better!

    Another great video!
    Do you have a favorite 'go-to' Perdigon pattern (Sz and color)? Or do you pick Sz and color based on whats hatching in that particular stream?

    • @LooknFishy
      @LooknFishy  Год назад

      Definitely...show/talk about it in the hopper dropper vid I made a few months back

  • @martymoose1719
    @martymoose1719 Год назад +1

    Those are really nice fish. It’s nice to have them come up to a hopper but the Perdigon just works. So, I guess you use hopper/dry dropper as opposed to an indicator. Do you adjust the depth when you find a deep hole? Keep living the dream and keep the videos coming. Peace

    • @LooknFishy
      @LooknFishy  Год назад

      Not typically...I fish a hopper dropper when fish are aggressive...more likely to move to eat. Talk about that more in my hopper dropper must have vid. I nymph 9 to 10 months/year on my local AR tailwaters...so I just like to do something different when I can get out west. I'd nymph more in the colder months

      I'm torn. It's definitely helpful...I have a rod ready for any stream while I explore. BUT...the constant vibration ate thru the first guide on my 4wt h3f...warranty covered it in a few weeks but now I put a sock on it!
