    To add to what Robert Brumley stated. He is spot on. I live in the mountains or just outside of them and in 5 minutes of riding Im in them. To watch you guys ride in the mountains carving them like the curves of a flat track and seeing so many mistakes made which could have taken yiur life. Slow down and enjoy the view. This is not flat Florida and I don't care how long you have been riding. I moved here 25 plus years ago and found out you need to set your bike up for mountain riding and get a lot of experience. Your friend was lucky he lived through this. Unfortunately we have a lot of out of state riders come here and go mountain carving on their last ride ever.

    It really amazes me when people ride together, they feel the need for speed and carving roads as fast as they possibly can. When you ride alone you won't hardly ever do that. This is why so many people are seriously injured or wind up dead. Why don't people relax and enjoy the scenery? There's never a hurry to destroy your bike or get killed.

      Yes...I've always found groups feel a lot more dangerous than riding solo. Josh got off real lucky that time...keep up the great videos!

      couldn't agree more, I have let so many people blow past me or hook up at the final destination I ride at my own speed and skill

      Good thing they're wasn't incoming traffic, car or bike, around a very sharp corner......for both of them.

      Facts broh, I recently bought a FJR1300 and I love it. But I had yz dirt bikes my whole life. And I loved riding with my sons, than I did with my friends because they always wanted balls to the wall. I wanted to trail ride, a d look at the beautiful tree's and nature. Nope, full throttle the whole time. I eventually had to just ride with my son's. Not only for quality time, but it was actually more fun, and safer. Plus I could correct their mistakes and show them that speed kills, and that going fast is not everything

    interesting that you missed a shift and crossed the center line just before the crash of the other rider..... I always consider a missed shift as a sign of fatigue and a message that it is a) time to slow down dramatically and b) look to call it the end of the day.

    I think you did a fantastic job documenting the trip and editing it all for us too see. I also felt like you upped your game, for lack of a better term, on the bike. It was like a different trip than the others you have taken with this one not having alot of time to stop and take all the pics you normally would have. Definetly glad you made it home in one piece and that sucks the R1 went down but at least nobody was injured! Great job and I'm looking forward to the next trip!

  • @CPUspeed

    Great trip. Wonderful roads and thanks for sharing. Such a contrast to that old trip where you slowly turned the bike around, went down, and discussed how to transport a windscreen.... to this wow!

    An amazing video series, I have watched every minute. If nothing else it has convinced me much like the Isle of Man, I need to visit the US to ride these roads.Very glad Josh is OK, looks like he just missed the corner and panicked braking far too hard. Thank you for your effort in taking the videos and editing them Bryan, I am sure it was a long task but it was certainly worth it. Watching your riding come from the style it was to the peg scraping leaned over cornering style was great. I now need to price shipping a bike and myself overseas to ride the dragon myself, even though I reckon we have better roads here in Australia.

    • @bryanroberts
      @bryanroberts 8 лет назад

      I don't know how much the shipping of the bike would cost but there are motorcycle rentals in N.C. where bikes range from $120 to $189 a day. They have some decent bikes also including some Harley Davidson, Hondas, Yamaha etc. etc...

    bring all mounting points forward on bike. if any of your two forward pull downs let go it will cause the bike to tip over. if you have all four going forward if one lets go you have a backup. you will not get rear wheel drift either if you use a more rear subframe point to pull forward. I tow my gs all the time and have had a tie down slip. I now go from the fork tubes up front. I try and stay away from handlebar areas.

    The Rattler. Love that road; there about a month ago. My son and I took a break about halfway to Hot Springs; those endless twisties can put you in a trance. Glad Josh wasn’t hurt. Been there, done that 😔

    2:38 That scraping peg is why I had to get rid of my FJR as once you're scraping the pegs, you're not that far away from crashing. It was your channel that persuaded me to get one. A suspension manufacturer here in the UK reckoned he could sort it but at a cost of £650 fitted, I didn't want to risk it not working.
    I only had it 2 weeks; brilliant bike otherwise, but I need more ground clearance- traded it along with an S1000R for the new KTM 1290 GT :-)

    great series really enjoyed.. with all the long trips you've done and planes for more have you considered towing a small motorcycle camper like a mini mate kompact camper that weighs 260 lbs that would really save a lot of money since 20 dollars a night at most campgrounds sounds a lot better then 70 bucks a night then stay at hotel when the weather is too bad or you would want the creature comforts of a hotel for the night

    Drifting out on corners onto other side of the road on right handlers. Taking left handers with your body crosssing over the central line into potential oncoming traffic. I could barely watch.

    GR8 Video again! I looked up the Skip Barber place and it truly looks like a definite plan for next year with friends. On a different note what's your take on the following? SW-MOTECH mirror wideners? They're $83 on Revzilla and the reviews are good on helping get more vision from the mirrors. I would love to get my elbows out of the picture and be able to see my six.

    you must see Barber. Arguably , the greatest collection of motorcycles on planet earth. Also interesting is that every example in the facility is maintained in a way that they can be started and ridden within an hour or two. I take photos in there every time i visit. I don't know about video. It states in their policy that photography is for private , noncommercial use only. and no flash photography.

    Eh, how do you lock up both wheels on a modern sport bike on a paved road? It did have ABS, yes? Looks to me like he went in too hot, panicked, braked hard, stood the bike up and simply failed to negotiate the corner. I think maybe you were all riding too fast for conditions/skill levels. Narrow road, blind corners, no room for mistakes. Tends to happen when group riding. He didn't low side until he was off the pavement and into the gravel. He just straight up failed to negotiate the corner and rode into the gravel pull off. A firm push on the right bar might have kept him on the pavement.

    • @TwoWheelObsession
      @TwoWheelObsession  6 лет назад

      No, it didn't have ABS. Many bikes only recently got it.

    "locked up both wheels". When you have ABS you don't lock up anything you just slow down and continue riding. His big fat tires didn't help anything.
