So so so so good, Elisha. I have been following your work for awhile and just this morning journaled about old sexual childhood trauma so to see this podcast is not by mistake.
I am also a body worker delving deep into root cause, stored trauma and trapped emotions, however my clients have been coming to blme for 16 years for body work so trying to find the transition and flow into more of releasing trauma has been a little slower than I would have liked but I know it is in all due timing. Thank you for this and all of your content. It is so reassuring to know that there are others on a similar journey. And thank you to Rafe for being so vulnerable and sharing. Such much of your stories also resignated with me especially on some of the deeper and most vulnerable aspects. No one talks about these things enough publicly and so we all think we are alone in this. Thank you for being so open.

Thank you so much for watching, and even more for your thoughtful comment. We do not talk about these things enough. I am going to do my part to change that.
I wonder how many of us in the body spaces - massage, movement, Jiu Jitsu etc - have this in our history? Perhaps we are drawn to work with bodies, knowing they carry not only a lot of wisdom and potential for healing, but also the important memories we need to process those traumas (whether consciously and verbally or somatically or all of the above).
Thank you again for watching and commenting!

@ElishaCeleste after watching this I had the exact same thoughts. I was called into massage in my 20s. Worked hard for 6 years. Got burned out and "retired" Got called back into it in 2017. Then covid shut me down in 2020. At that time I really began understanding the mind/body connection. Once I started working on myself internally as well as self fascia release so many emotions started to arise that I never knew I had and one huge one for me was anger. I am still disconnected from the actual event(s) that happened but as I slowly come back into my body I am starting to uncover more. ❤

@@crystalabarnettlmt3370 beautiful. Thank you again for sharing. So many emotions and memories flood back when we inhabit our bodies more fully. Anger is such a socially difficult one - girls are taught it's ok to be sad but not angry, and boys are conditioned to suppress their shame and sadness while channeling their anger into sports and fighting. I applaud your brave healing journey 💛

thank you for this incredible podcast!! It's another one of these podcasts that I listened to without skipping: every word, every face expression was talking to me. I shared it already and one friend came back saying: 'this is one of the best podcasts on this topic I ever listened to'! Thanks so much to both of your for authentically talking about all these things and with the details that at time are needed to bring the point across!🙏🙏

WOW! This conversation connected quite a few puzzle pieces for me. I am so incredibly grateful for you and the passion project your energy is behind. Kinetix summer school was an awakening to the immense amount of fear I have been living in my entire life...AND how that has armored my body/being so that no one experiences the softness my heart has to offer. Additionally, the power over relationship I have had with clients over the decades as a body worker mirrors the belief that I have power over my own body. To transcend toward a power with relationship. With myself and Self is mirrored as I turn to face these fears. The deep lessons of what you are offering land in a profoundly deep and meaningful way. One hell of a journey! 🙏

Awwwww, Stacey 🥰 Thank you for offering this glimpse into your struggles, and your tender heart. This conversation with Rafe was deeply meaningful to me as well. And I sense that what happened for you/us at Summer School was just the beginning. Sending you a big hug, dear sister 💛

Rough and tumble play. Yes even my dad who was very conservative used to get down on the floor and play with us especially when my brother came along. It was fun and exciting and thrilling and challenging. And yes, what do you transition into? It was sad when it stopped. Also for me around 8 years old. Very interesting interview. Elisha good questions. I appreciate the dynamic between the two of you. Rafe, I'd love to hear more about your healing breakthrough and what that was like for you in detail. I don't know anything about the therapy that you talked about but it sounded like the second go round really made a huge lasting impact. Thank you both for sharing so vulnerably. Yes, it rings true to me that we are a touch deficit culture and much could be healed by learning to engage with all our senses in a spirit of playfulness. 😊❤

I have written up a description of my therapy for my personal substack but haven't published it yet, have to decide on how much I reveal about certain details.
