- About halfway through his nearly two-hour Friday night set at Los Angeles' Forum, Bob Seger wheeled out his 1986 hit "Like a Rock" with a preamble: It's been "about 20 years since we've played this," he said. "I hope you remember it."
To use one of his own song titles, "Rock and Roll Never Forgets," especially when said song was hammered into our brain repeatedly in a Chevy Truck commercial through the '90s. While some purists may be upset by the convergence of rock 'n' roll and Madison Avenue, even they have to admit that the ad exec who put that association together scored a knockout. Outside of Bruce Springsteen and perhaps John Mellencamp, there isn't another veteran rocker who speaks to the blue collar American everyman better than Seger.

Never got credit? He was inducted in the freakin Rock Hall of Fame and his Greatest Hits album just got diamond status without even factoring in streams. I'd say he's got his credit lol.

@@peterberg8417 how about respect? Bob Seger recorded his first recording back in 1966 it's a great tune , East side story. Now here's where the disrespect comes in, in 1999 Springsteen inducted in 2004 bob Seger inducted. Springsteen's first album came out in 1976 by 1976 bob Seger already had 10 albums out and about 15 singles out and has been recording for a decade before Springsteen. So you must ask yourself why wasn't Bob Seger inducted first? Just remember Bob Seger is the original where is Bruce Springsteen is a copy
@@mike67006700 I've never liked Springsteen, but it's nice sometimes to have an artist you love not become overrated. Seger exists in that great pantheon of not underrated and not overrated. He's just a great musician who if anything deserves a nice career spanning box set with unreleased songs, unreleased takes and live video
