I haven't crossed stitched in over twenty years. I began doing it when my children were little and I needed to relax and escape the drama. Watching you stitch has made me want to begin again. I was never as good as you but I did enjoy it. Your work is beautiful!
Hi, Luyda! Totally agree with you - using thicker needle makes stitches bigger but more neat and the threads are not getting fluffy and thinner so quickly because of rubbing repeatedly through the holes in fabric. And it depends of course on the count of the fabric you use for your stitching.
Thank you so much Luda for taking the time to show this. I never realized what a difference a needle size would make! I am doing a small piece right now that I thought I needed 3 ply for coverage, but I will be so glad when it’s finished as I do not like stitching with 3 ply!
I have been using smaller needles-mostly 28s. It is interesting to see the difference in the fullness and smoothness of the stitches with the larger needles. Also I really like the way you start your stitches. It looks so much much more efficient than other ways I have tried.
Thank you so much Luda for taking the time to show how you stitch. I learnt many things from your video especially the way you start with your thread. I also would love to see the way you finish off your thread too. The needle difference is quite amazing in the end result and I have always used a small needle, but I will now be more mindful of this. Your work is just magnificent and please continue to make videos in English as they are very much appreciated. ❤️
I just found your youtube video's and love your explanations as you stitch. I will try the way you start a stitch and how you end as I have never seen it done, thankyou. I will see you again☺☺☺☺
Llevo toda mi vida bordando y no me había percatado de la diferencia del bordado al usar distintos tamaños de agujas. Gracias por enseñarlo Luda... Que tengas un lindo día!!!!
I like stitching from the top so much quicker ... also I only do printed aida 11 count or 14 count I only learnt cross stitching this year .. I luv it ... thnku Luda for sharing ur tips ... happy stitching 🙂
Thank you so much for taking the time to make the demonstration video. I have been stitching for many years but I did not know that the needle size makes a difference in the stitch, that was very interesting to find out. Mostly I stitch with 2 threads on 28 ct or 18 ct, but I do like the better color saturation that you get with 3 threads. You have inspired me to go back to 14ct so I can use the 3 threads :) I love all your large fuller coverage pieces
Your video is the reason I finally started my printed cross stitch Thank you 😊 Can you do a back stitch or link men to a video If already done Thanks Sheila
I'm so jealous of your tension! I've tried every frame imaginable and never get my Aida to stay taut. I just bought a new bar frame where you "pin" it to the wood, and am about to try it out for the first time. It's certainly not as nice as yours. How do you do it? Hoops never give me that effect. I also am doing a bigger, full coverage design that I'm about to try parking for the first time using 3 ply on 14 count Aida. Any tips on how to get such nice taut Aida and clean stitches?
thank you for your demonstration. thank you for showing us how you start. In my current project I cannot start my usual way and the way you showed works perfectly! Could you, please, also show us how you finish your threads?
Wow, thank you so much. Haven't thought about how the needle sizes can change your stitches. Don't have much experience in cross stitch yet and am having trouble with tension. Do you have any tips?
Can you do side stitching for printed patterns that go that direction and then up and down stitching for other stitches Or do I have to choose between these 2 stitches ? Then do one for the entire stitches for the cross stitch pattern??
Thank you for this video showing the difference in stitches when different needles are used! I hope you are now in your apartment and somewhat settled. I have been binge watching your past videos in Russian. You have stitched so many beautiful designs! I have the Dimensions kit “Parrot Tulips” already so I may start on that fairly soon along with Mirabilia Shimmering Mermaid which I have almost finished. xoxo Nancy
Angela Kopecky If you tap on 3 vertical dots upper right corner you can change the playback speed of video. I mute sound when you watch the technique I’m learning. Love this channel.
Nice demonstration! Thank you! I ran into my first pattern this year asking for three threads. I was a little shocked and had to go onto my FB groups to ask if that was right or some sort of printing error. lol It's NOT something you run into a lot. (Though, yes, this was a Dimensions kit. Which I haven't done before.)It's nice to see someone actually DOING it. I think it's still going to feel weird, though. :D
Elentarien Elentarien thank you for commenting! I often use 3 threads in my stitching! All Rosewood Manor seasonal samplers were stitching 3 over 2 and of course Dimension kits

I am not a new stitcher having picked up a needle over a decade ago, but I never knew the size of the needle could effect the stitch, thank you!

Very good demonstration. A sampler teacher, Eileen Bennet, always says to use a bigger,24, needle. And here, you can see the difference first hand.

Diane Morici thank you Diane! Rita Russian speaking stitcher is making videos in English as well ! In my next video I will leave her link
Thank you! I have been watching the videos in Russian & am getting lots of inspiration for stitching a full coverage piece.
Your video is the reason I finally started my printed cross stitch Thank you 😊 Can you do a back stitch or link men to a video If already done Thanks Sheila
Hola. Q tela es y en q caunt estás trabajando ? Gracias
Your English is great. I also like the thicker, needle-point-like thickness of the 3 strands.
Thank you for showing how you stitch. It was very helpful to see that I am doing it right.
Patti Fletcher thank you for commenting 💐💐💐

I’m working. On an 11 count and I want to know if it’s normal to have gaps in between the X ‘s? I use 3 count dmc floss.

Wonderful tutorial Luda. How many hours in a day do you get to stitch? Look forward to your next video happy stitching xx Maureen
Awesome video as usual, Luda! What size needle do you recommend for 4 strands on 11 count Aida?
Can I ask how many hours per day you stitch on average? Do you get up early or stay up late...or do you just stitch throughout the day.
I would also like to know.
She is an artist ! 🌹❤🌹❤🌹
I love your videos Luda. Can you please list the name of the needle to take the stitches out?
May i ask if 11ct aida is good? I saw mostly using 14ct just wondering whats the difference? Im waiting for my 1st kit to arrive and its 11ct aida.
Thank you somuch I learned easy from you lady👍👍👍👍👍👍
Is this the correct way of cross stitching, going up nd down? Thank you so much.

Thank you Luda! This was very helpful and interesting xx
Anitchtocrossstitch glad you like it ☺️💐💐💐
what is a micro stitch
I never noticed this before! Did you say what count fabric this is?
Kim Goldman this is 14 count Aida
Cross Stitch With Luda thank you! I actually just took the time to switch from 28 to 26 on 32 count because of this, and I like it!
Kim Goldman I sometimes stitch with 26 on 32 ct, than I go back to 28 ...
Why are the stitches bigger with a bigger needle but same three stands of thread ?
This was so useful Luda, please could i request a tutorial on your petit point technique for one over one stitching on Mirabillia’s? Xx
