While it is good to save to build capital, saving is not the same as investment. Having your money sitting in an account will be affected by inflation and all. However, if you are from rock bottom, the most prudent way to start raising capital is by saving over a period of time while learning about how to invest your money. A tenth of what you earn is yours to keep. Stay blessed.
Approximately 4 years ago i read a book by robert kiyosaki [Rich dad poor dad]. And from that book i learnt a bit about investing. Saving is not the way for me. It took 9 years and he saved 2.8M....i'd rather invest and grow within that time

@MindMatters-y6t even for those living in Nigeria, it's wise to save in a stable currency. If you save ₦500,000 in 2022 by converting it to dollars ($1000). Converting that dollar back to naira today will give you ₦1,680,000. That's because 2022= 1 dollar = ₦500 2024 = 1 dollar = ₦1,680. So whether you live in Nigeria or not, please just avoid saving in the Naira‼️

I wish this was possible in Nigeria. At the end your 9 years. The 1,000,000naira that was worth $10,000 in year 1, would be worth $500 by year 9. It's so "easy" to save in Nigeria 😢😢
I'm an American living in Nigeria, and earlier this month I formed a 12-month savings challenge with a few women I met on a Facebook group. Our youngest member is 16-years old, she save 2k a week using the Opay safe box which earns her 15% interest, another member deposits her weekly Opay Spend and Save cash into a 16-month lockbox, on top of her 75k monthly Fairlock savings at 18% annual interest... She's planning to buy land in 2026 with her savings so she can build. Determination, Accountiblity, and Discipline is what we are learning in the group.
