Just like us, stars have a life expectancy, and Betelgeuse is no different. It’s a ticking time bomb that's ready to go, but we're not sure when. So, what if today was the day Betelgeuse went out with a bang? How would the Earth be affected? And will our Universe ever be the same?

It's impossible for NASA to know that since no information about the explosion can travel faster than the speed of light.
Remember; It is entirely possible that Betelgeuse had already gone supernova but the light from explosion hasn't reached us yet. Meaning that if the light we see from Betelgeuse from the sky is about 640 years old, that means that the supernova might be foreseeable in the 2020's.
Uh, no cause there's like technology smd whatnot. We would know.

It could happen as early as now. 100000 years is not long when dealing with space so it can be very well between this time. And once it does go supernova, we wouldn’t know for 650 years.
