So right buddy, I started just over a year to make videos and this has been my focus for the past year, just 3 months ago decided to quit my job in the office and go full time, already making more money than my previous job and so happy to make something I love, so many samples out there, you just need to work super hard and get better making videos 😀👍
thats a good answer you should fund your own trips and get your editing skills up. Once you master or get good at that people will reach out and there you go.
I get the point of the video and nothing you said was untrue but the reason people don’t like those kind of answers is different then what you think. It’s not because they don’t want to hear that it’s hard work but instead it’s because there parents could also have told them that. All how to become successful in anything videos could pretty much have interchangeable titles because they all say the save thing. Work hard and don’t give up. It would be so much more interesting and helpful to see your first email that landed you a job or how your portfolio looked at that time and so on.
Most people just love the idea of making travel videos. And when you just love the idea of something and not the process you’ll never reach that idea or dream. Let the process of reaching your goal be your dream and you will succeed. Thank you for for being an inspiration and just a honest genuine guy Sam. I appreciate you and your work. Keep creating. 🤟🏻
Sam Newton Media thank you so much for getting back to me on that Sam! As I’m a aspiring filmmaker who’s dedicated to the process and really just trying to make a difference with my work is there an email or contact I can ask you a couple questions I have?
How to become a travel videographer: Do the chicken waddle. Waddle with intention, and if you waddle through life's ups and downs with persistence, you too, will be successful.
Thanks for sharing! I really liked how you expressed the the love of the whole process and shooting the things you REALLY like to shoot. I first started photography back in high school in the late 90s. I was away from it for many years and re-discovered my passion for it and started to get serious about it a year ago. I first got re-aquainted with the mechanics of it through landscape, cityscape and still life photography. But I knew I always wanted to shoot fashion editorial, as it's the type of imagery that most appeals to me. I started an IG page and just started contacting models with my ideas. The more I shot, the more models I ended up working with. I'm constantly asked how much I charge and get quite the odd looks when I say I don't. I shoot because I love to. And I shoot the content I want to. And to me - right now - that's all that matters. That's what makes me happy. See you do what makes you happy IS the inspiration that you spread. Thank you. If people would stop and ask themselves why they do the things they do, I would say that if they didn't respond with "because I love to", they (or anyone) should question why you're still doing it? That 2:59 transition is so simple yet creative. Thanks for making content like this. I am a 17 y/o from Mumbai, India and I'm working my arse off to achieve my goals. They are incredibly absurd especially taking into account that I (as of now) live in a 3rd world country. But here are some goals I wanna achieve in life:- 1) Open my own business by the age of 20 2) Become a filmmaker (not necessarily travel filmmaker) 3) Make projects for BBC, UNICEF and more organisations. 4) Move to LA/Miami in my 20s 5) Make several meaningful documentaries and films. 6) Live a meaningful life. Those were some of the goals I have in life. And people like you inspire me to keep working in the right direction. Thank you!

This was a fantastic video man, love it. This was probably more useful than people actually trying to give you a framework. Love your content, keep it up!
This gives me hope, I started RUclips back in 2012 but didn't start making "travel videos" until about 3/4 years ago and I just got my first paid client earlier this year to film a wedding!
Great video and advice Sam. I’m many steps behind you but where I’m at on my journey with my goals and pacing and hustle, everything you said I know is spot on. I’ve seen it firsthand myself too. Reaching that ____ isn’t easy. It’s brutal. It takes a lot of work over a long period of time. But if we stay persistent, are doing what we love, and learning practicing growing intentionally, everything we imagine and more is possible. Damn that sounds cheesy and sorta dumb...but with my time going off the premed path to do videography and now making some moves toward more full time RUclips... I’ve seen, this cheesy stuff is actually true. So much sacrifice and work you’ve put in behind the scenes with your work and art to get you where you’re at today. Grinding myself now, I see it and respect it so much but even so I’m sure I can’t fully imagine or notice what you’ve put in, Sam. Keep up the great work. Very inspiring and refreshing.
Such good advice man. It’s never sexy, but it’s the consistency and patience, and leveraging your unique skills and passions over a sh*tton of time that gets results. I find it fascinating how similar it is to the advice we give to aspiring music producers in my field as well - so many common elements across all creative endeavors
Most people these days try to become a travel videographer because they like to travel. This is so wrong. Become a videographer because you LOVE to create videos AND to travel. I'm trying my best too to become a travel videographer. I started 1 year ago and going pretty good. I don't care about subscribers, views, or money, because I LOVE what I do!
I am so inspired. Cannot wait to make my next travel video with all that blue ass water 💦 In all seriousness though, coming through with that valuable information! Loved seeing this side of your channel too - stoked to see more dude 🤙
What a ripper video! Totally agree with all of the above. I’m #inspired at your #inspirational #travelgoals haha. But really, love your work bruvvy keep it up
Good video. I agree with this completely, had a lot similar experiences although still trying to get to the ultimate place where I want to be, but am pretty far along and these were definitely steps along the way. A lot of people I've met discount doing the things you need to do to get to where you want to go, like taking jobs for the experience to have something to show, and make things relevant to the people you want to get work from etc. Definitely a good road map etc. interesting video.
Awesome motivation thank you! I already have a few years in the game and I know I still have along way to go but thankfully I enjoy this way like hell and I feel that success is inevitable! :) See you on the other side soon ;)
