Why do you contact a trainer and give them the run around or DON’T comply with their professional, and reliable advice? She is so patient with people even if they’re ignorant...
I swear I almost smashed my phone from frustration I will never be able to have such patience and be so calm about it. What exactly did he not understand about the 4million dogs that get put down bcz of that mindset
Same. I've worked in a veterinary clinic and seen dogs be put down and the most heartbreaking part is always seeing that dog walk through the door with it's owner all happy and completely clueless of what's about to happen. Excited to meet new people not knowing that those people will be the one to end it's life moments later. That's why I beg of people to please not breed irresponsibily...
@Gi Gi yes I totally agree with you I have volunteered for a year now and I honestly never realized what was going on in every city in every state but when you see the dog you played with and snuggled with minutes ago go into that room it hits you like a wall that something needs to be done and i wish people realized that
He’s the typical guy who gets a large bully breed for the look. Then convinced himself that he can breed a dog he really didn’t train from the beginning. Then gets all macho about neutering the dog
Exactly. I have a toy dachshund and people always ask if I’m going to breed him. The answer is no because he’s aggressive and that can definitely be passed down to the puppy. I’m clipping my dog in a few months. He is a year and half old
People see my dog and always think about how cute and tiny he is but he’s the biggest responsibility I have right now. It took a long time to train him to where he won’t bite or the non stop barking he did. Most people would’ve gotten rid of him but I rescued him from a box on the side of the road when was a month old. I signed up for the responsibility.
When Victoria said, “they don’t know that they’re giving you their paw because the needle is going to go into it and they’re going to get put down” I got chills.
I was 4 when we got our first dog (she ended up being the most chill loving dog) but I have a strong memory of my dad telling me we needed to shelter her to make sure she wouldn't bite anyone (never happened once) but I think it was so important for me to hear, especially given the dogs we've had over the years
This man thinks he knows people who will be responsible owners of this breed of dog and yet, he is a textbook example of an owner who can not control said breed. Wow.
If he can’t even handle his own dog what makes him think other people will? If he plans on selling them to friends and family and if they’re anything like him? His puppies have a death certificate already waiting... he should’ve had his dog removed immediately after this episode was aired
Also, if he knows so many 'responsible owners who want a dog like that', why don't they go to the shelter and rescue one of the ones on death row? And how can he be so devoid of critical thinking to not realize that if people were serious about wanting dogs like this, the shelters wouldn't be full of them?
@@PixieoftheWood it makes me think they want to breed casper’s puppies as well so that’s why they don’t adopt, they want a “good bloodline” backyard breeding is so sick
He talks about people getting that type of dog without knowing how to handle them. Like.... dude... you're kinda one of those people yourself. Thankfully people can learn.
@@wolfygaming7222 he got in trouble with the law bc after the episode, he still didn't get him neutered and he bit someone, and that someone pressed charges. He had to get him neutered by court order and Casper is now forced to where a muzzle any time he's taken outside
Where I’m from it’s more like 90% of shelter dogs are bully breeds. We’ve tried for months to adopt a dog that was a good fit but unfortunately bullies are not due to apartments having weight and breed restrictions. I’m sooo glad he got neutered. Although it won’t help those shelter dogs right away at least it doesn’t worsen the problem.
he did not neuter him, someone updated: Update from the previous video about this guy: He never neutered his dog, he never trained his dog, and he never followed through with training. The dog a year later, UNNEUTERED, attacked and bit someone in a parking lot at the complex they lived in. The judge ordered the dog not only to be neutered but trained and taken from him for at least eighteen months. This guy never listened nor cared except about how much money he could make and how "cool" he looked. Google Presa Canario Casper to find out about this, that's how I found out.
Gi Gi I appreciate the advice but unfortunately the only dogs that were a good fit were from rescues that made it too difficult for us to adopt with their restrictions. The ones with lesser restrictions never had a small dog that wasn’t a senior. I know they deserve a chance but I wasn’t ready for a heartbreak like that. We ended up getting our dog from craigslist and we’re so grateful we waited she’s the best thing ever Unfortunately there’s way too many people who breed them for a quick buck. Not caring about vet care or where they go. Multiply that enough times over decades plus breed restrictions (usually based by appearance anyway) and you get this problem.
@Jayne Crafter still an issue... He could easily impregnant a female dog 'by accident' because he could honestly overpower any other dog.. It's very irrisponsible to not spay and neuter dogs and cats. And like the one professional trainer said, having a dog unneutered ends up giving the dog aggressive behaviors because of the added testostertone. If you don't plan to breed your dog (which you shouldn't unless your a professional breeder) then there's no reason not to neuter or spay your animal, period.
I can relate! I adopted 2 dogs from out of state just to not have a bully breed. You must understand how powerful they are. My dogs weigh 72 and 85 pounds now, and the two together are not as strong as a pit bull. These breeds are not to be taken lightly
This is one of the most dense owners I've seen yet. On another note. Put a goddamn normal collar on that dog when walking him. That chain is the most unnecessary thing and heavy as hell.
I would have loved for her to bring him to a true reputable breeder of these dogs too. To see all the work, money, time and commitment it takes. The health testing etc
Him: I knoW a lOt Of pEopLe wHo wAnT ThiS kIndA doG. Me takes a deep breath: THEN TELL THE PEOPLE WHO WANT THIS KINDA DOG TO ADOPT ONE FROM THE SHELTER! These kinda people annoy me 😒
Exactly!!! There are plenty of dogs at shelters, especially bullies! I kinda get it because I think his is a corso, but only experienced dog owners/handlers should get / breed that breed since they have a tendency to be aggressive and hard to handle. A pitty is much easier to handle than a corso and there are plenty available to adopt!
That's what I'm saying. If he has room for one of the dogs puppies and wants another one around, and calls himself a bully breed lover, then why not use that space that he has to adopt one from the shelter
Annika S I think Casper is a Pressa canario not a cane corso, but at the end of the day he’s a big, powerful dog with a square head and that’s all it takes 😔 I don’t know how popular a breed pressa’s are but the fact that he doesn’t have a breeding contract through the person he got Casper from is evidence enough that he probably shouldn’t be breeding Casper.
If I had this guys mindset, I would have breed my dog too, now she is female, adorable, and has a great temper, and I also have so many people and friends who have said POINT BLANK to my face! That if my dog had pups they'd be first in line. BUT! I also know, if I stood at their door and said "here you go", they would immediately say "Oh I can't, I can't have a dog right now" or "I can't afford a dog right now" and "I already have too many dogs!". You can stay there and preach all you want that you have people that want "that kind of dog" and it will be easy to get rid of the whole litter, but YOU DON'T KNOW THAT! Do you have any idea how many dogs I've seen that I have said "I want it" and don't get?! Because I at least use my brain, and I know that right now, I can ONLY take care of the one I have.
That's a really good point! If someone says they'd buy a puppy, ask if they would be willing to make a down payment to help pay the stud fee. I think most people would get cold feet....
My sister had the reverse problem: the breeder wanting her dog back due to how much patience and tolerance the dog had with my sister's kids. My sister declined since she did not want to start over with another puppy and quite possibly not be half as lucky.
I feel that people who want a dog say it out of whim and impulse, and they don't realize the needs of the dog until it's growing up and going through the typical puppy behavior. This is why people who wish to get a dog either from a breeder, shelter, friend, etc should DO their research or be given adequate information. You definitely did your part in not giving in!
I think it could be helpful to let people like this (who want to breed their dogs but don't want the puppies to end up in shelters) to know that real, professional breeders will take any unwanted dog they create back into their care so their dogs never end up in the shelter. If Casper was bred and the bitch had 6 puppies and 4 prospective owners got in over their head because they weren't ready and/or the dogs inherited some of his behavioral issues--just how many Caspers is he willing to take back into his house if he has to? Can he deal with 2 or 3 or even more? The reality for those dogs would likely become return to the breeder and stay there or go to the shelter and be euthanized because of behavioral issues and the sheer lack of space to house more dogs.
Yes! A good breeder will take their dogs back, no questions asked, at any age. Some even rescue dogs of "their" breed and use their knowledge and facilities to rehabilitate them.
Exactly!! Also I’m not sure if this is true or not, but I’ve heard that reputable breeders will have a spay/neuter contract with their clients. Is that true??
@@catsRwarriors3 I'd say you can be a responsible breeder without having a spay/neuter contract. In some areas and with some breeds over-breeding and irresponsible breeding might not be much of an issue. Sometimes it might be in the best interest of the breed not to encourage spaying and neutering and the spay/neuter contract is there to benefit the breeder more than the breed. Of course, the opposite might also be true.
8:04 from here to where she stopped talking about it actually made me cry its so disappointing when a dog is just clueless and has no way to avoid them being 'put down'. I remember when my dog was put down because he was suffering and it was so sad. I wish for dogs to just naturally go by age... Not because of certain circumstances.
Same, we had to put down our dog because he was suffering too much already at that point, he was pretty old and would most likely not survive the surgery because of his age and weakness, the poor thing couldn't even move a inch from the pain, we had to force feed him since he wouldn't eat for himself and was so so weak... his last days were really heartbreaking, at least we were the with him at the end...
I have had to shoot a kouple dogs. The latter was my best friend. I wear the shell kasing around my nekk. I'll miss her forever. Even after 2500$ at the hospital. She still didn't make it. I'll never get over her. She was my best friend. Fukk Disease.
When he says "I won't neuter my dog" I hear "I wanna breed him and sell pups without papers to make a quick buck". Glad he lost the dog and sad that someone had to get hurt...
I don’t really see the point in neutering a dog and I don’t understand why neutering would help his situation but what I do know is that in America there are huge overbreeding problems and people who destroy the gen pool so his dog probably shouldn’t breed that I agree with and he is way to immature/unreasonable he should learn how to actually care for a dog and train it Please correct me if anyone is wrong here or their is other factors that I am not getting (I am going to get a dog(most likely a collie or GMS/other herding breed) but I am not sure if I want to neuter I don’t necessarily want to breed my dog though i might consider it later. in my country there is no problem with overbreeding/stray dogs either. I found no real benefit to neuter other then reducing the dogs male behavior/will-to-wandering. their is no evidence that it reduced aggressive behavior, it does remove the chances of testicular cancer but increases other risk factors so their is no real health benefit. Only thing is you need to watch your dog when introducing it to now dogs since neutered dogs might not like intact dog and to avoid accidental litters)
Not sure if this matters but here is some more data if you care about that stuff This is the data I found based on my country From what I could find around 300 dogs get put down every year due to aggressive behavior/rescue dogs but not because they attacked anyone just hard to rehabilitate them and no one wants them and around 8300 animals mostly dogs/cats get put down every year for other reasons like bad health age or other reason like aggressive behaviors
@@yamato-qi3es If you don't want to breed it, then why aren't you getting it neutered? It's unlikely you will be carefully controlling breeding to ensure good temperament, or genetic health, or taking back any of the puppies if the new owners can't handle them. You would become just yet another backyard breeder whose dogs end suffering for your mistakes. Leave it too the professionals. If Americans only left un-neutered dogs to the professional breeders then over-breeding wouldn't have been an issue, but lots of backyard breeders and people justifying letting their dogs run around un-neutered was how it eventually got to that state.
@@franknbeans8904 here in the USA we have a huge amount of people. Among these people we have those who only care about themselves and the bigger nicer things they can get people will impulsively get things just because they wanted it in the moment or so they can say they have it or had it. It's easy come easy go and they put no thought on how it effects any except their gratification for however long. People will force down a meal that could have fed 3 or they will get the same meal eat a 3rd and throw the rest away in their mind it's all the same. Somebody's 5 year old kid will throw a fit because they want a puppy and they will run out and get one and the kid will get bored with it in a week and the parents didn't want it in the first place so they pretty much do it like the meal the will get rid of it or neglect it. If they get rid of it it's out of sight out of mind and they will just get another one if they want one later. People will be living in a place that dog's aren't allowed and get one anyway when they are told they can't have it they get rid of it it was fun while it lasted. We have a lot of people that let their morals erode these people will just throw garbage down and say someone is paid to clean that up. But don't get it twisted we have people that will give you the shirt off their back and people that will pick up that trash because it's the right thing to do. We as a people have given so much for what we have now. It just seems like in the last 15 years people have rapidly become cold selfish greedy and have a mentality like what can you do for me or what have you done for me and as bad as it hurts to see this. I know the good Outweigh the bad And people are taking in these unwanted dogs As fast as they can Some families have multiple. I am a proud American and I know that if it comes down to it if someone is in trouble there will be someone who is willing to risk it all to help a stranger if your home was on fire and your kid was in there someone would go in for them with no concern for them self. If you and your family were hungry another hungry person would give that meal for 3 to you and they would be full because you have something to eat. That's what America's about we have so many good people that when the time comes we will sacrifice everything for what's right even if it's for someone that is a complete stranger and that's the truth

This guy is lacking real logic though.... If he can't control his dog what makes him think other amateures can control his dogs offspring??????? Hellloooooo!
yeah, he needs to nuder to like my dad did with all the cats in my life. all bully breeds need to be safe and they will come back so we need to rise up and save them
@S cell to be fair, they're probably expensive because good breeders screen their dogs for health problems, only breed healthy animals and give them all their shots
@S cell You get what you pay for. If you want a healthy, mentally stable dog, it's gonna cost you more. But it'll be worth it. A serious breeder is a great resource for information, tips and tricks regarding the specific breed, which is great for first time owners. Your priorities shouldn't be getting a cheap dog, but getting a dog that suits you, your skill level and your lifestyle.
it’s sad cause in the end he never neutered casper and than casper bit someone in a parking lot he would’ve been a perfectly fine good boy if he was just neutered
I work at a fast-food joint and sometimes someone comes through and has one of these breeds with them. Sweetest dog ever, so glad the owner lets me pet her.
You’re dog should not be an extension for you having to compensate. If you get a dog it should be because you love that dog and you enjoy it’s company not because you want it as a status symbol
Before I owned my dog (pitbull), he was my sisters dog. She and her boyfriend had bred him twice and most of the puppies ended up in good homes, but we had also heard later down the road that a good portion of them were given to other people or had died. It broke my heart to know that his puppies were being passed around, ending up who knows where. But he's neutered and his 6th birthday was yesterday :)
He probably feels it might emasculate him cuz u know that's a man's pride ...he wants his dog to feel manly ...ik guys like him, there pretty much all abt pride within themselves and their appearance. It's just an ego thing
Victoria has really made her point and I’m glad she is sharing this with all of the people who watch this video and hope they adopt this type of dog and help those four million dogs.
The story I found online about Casper A New York dog is paying the price for an owner who was unwilling to follow through on proper training. Casper, a 3 year old Presa Canario has been contained in a Westchester country animal shelter for six months while his owner is facing $80,000 in fines, eviction and fighting to save his dog’s life after events led to Caspar injuring a visitor in his condo parking lot. When Eric Leinwand of Westchester bought Casper as a puppy from a breeder- he was encouraged by the dog’s breeder to train the dog for protection as well as leaving him in-tact to use a stud dog to bring in some ‘extra cash’ later down the road. Unfortunately, ‘later down the road’ Casper grew and started showing some troublesome behavior such as marking in the house, lunging and barking at other dogs and strangers outside home, and showing fear aggression toward people inside the home due to lack of proper basic training and socialization. Eric then decided to take the advice from some acquaintances and purchased a shock collar to attempt to control Casper’s behavior. The result of the shock collar was worse than the original situation as the behavior intensified and was made worse, especially towards strangers. In an attempt to fix his situation, Eric and Casper appeared in the third US season of Animal Planet’s It’s Me or the Dog, hosted by Victoria Stillwell. During the show, Stillwell tried to show Eric the potential of his dog’s power and what could happen WITHOUT proper training. The original story reported that “On the show, a trainer waved a big stick at Casper in a threatening manner and the dog lunged at him after being released by Eric Leinwand.” In reaction to the article, Stillwell has come out with a statement explaining “I arranged for Eric to watch a demonstration with an experienced handler and his own trained protection dog to show, in a controlled scenario, how powerful a bully breed can be. This segment included the handler, his trained protection dog and an experienced trainer in a bite suit, who waved a bite stick at the trained protection dog and NOT CASPER - a common scenario in protection work. At no time was any stick waved at Casper.” At the time when Eric purchased the dog, his condo association gave him permission to keep the dog despite the community’s no-dog rule. Over time the community grew worried about Casper and his owner, and even though reports suggest “all of the problems” started when they appeared on the show, Stillwell states “there is no doubt that the biting episodes which actually triggered the dispute would have occurred (probably even sooner) without him appearing on the show.” The episode of It’s Me or the Dog shows that despite urging from Stillwell to have the dog neutered and arrangements made by her for Eric to work with other area trainers after her departure- Eric did not follow through on much of the training, did not work with any trainers nor did he neuter Casper, leaving him to his previous behaviors which lead to events that caused the dog to act out towards the visitor. Westchester County judge Walter Rivera labeled Casper as “dangerous” but also ruled to spare his life. The judge also ordered that he must be neutered, visit a “board certified animal behaviorist” and not go out in public without a muzzle. Story by Lauren McGregor Downs
Because they like to compare it or envision it's comparable to having their's chopped off, which is ridiculous and even the veterinary profession don't understand why it's a thing, they fail to realize once a male dog is neutered, they could frankly care less over them.
I work in veterinary and find that when I say to male owners that you can do somehting when you feel the hormones taking control. You are leaving your male dog feeling all these breeding feelings and then not letting him use them. Imagine how frustrating that is!
Because they can relate, men / males think of neutering a dog as if they were having their own balls cut off, obviously, they wouldnt want to put their dog through it.
@@SSquidFishh0 Funny how women have no such fuss about the idea of being spayed even though we can also relate to that, and a lot more women actually go through that type of surgery than men do. Guess we're just a wee bit less emotional and irrational about basic healthcare for ourselves and our animals.
@@SunShine-fg4hg So true and one of the myths that the novice breeders think is that breeders make a lot of money. When in truth they do not. There's vet checkups, dog food, making sure that the mother is getting everything she needs. Also, there is getting the puppies papers and cost of delivering to the new owners and just so much. I never had to get any of my dogs fixed but.... they also never had that kind of energy. In fact, me and my mom joked that Guinea by the time he realized he had a pair he was in his seniors years and to slow to even chase the females. lol.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Victoria so desperate to get it through someone’s thick skull that they shouldn’t breed their dog.. that in it of itself made me cry because I feel the same way she does. Don’t breed unless you’re a professional who knows what they’re doing otherwise those dogs are just gonna end up where they’re standing. It’s so sad..
Besides creating more unwanted dogs, these “backyard breeders” don’t concern themselves with the gene pool they are dealing with. They don’t deal with the health or temperament of the future puppies.
I had wanted to breed my standard people. I talk to a woman breeding standards. I asked her how do I know if the male traits will enhance the breed with my female. She said she didn’t know. She just uses any male with her females. I had my dog spayed with a month. I didn’t want to be a backyard breeder who breed poor quality of dogs.
Victoria, I love how you tell owners the truth of a situation even if it's uncomfortable and something that they don't want to hear. It's also strange that a dog owner would want to breed a dog that he himself can not control. Make new episodes for us, Victoria! We learn so much from you!
@@Ysckemia in the first bit they posted a while ago, he did let Victoria and the whole TV crew wait for 1h. The guy had no sence of responsibility and cared only about himself.
Victoria kept her calm so well, you could see how serious and internally upset she was becoming but somehow kept her cool. I don’t know how she does it!
rainbow lover I think the comment was less about disparaging 11 year olds and more about the importance of maturity! It’s awesome if you’re that young and know what it takes to care for an animal, but most aren’t. This man was very selfish in wanting to breed his dog, so he needed to gain maturity and understanding to take care of his dog better. I’m glad there are responsible kids like you who are passionate about animal care
He ain't listening. What will change this guy's mind? He's so unhealthy opinionated. Goes into a shelter doesn't want to open his eyes or heart this reality.
There’s one ep clip of this exact situation of the guy wanting to breed the dog, and Victoria brought the couple to the shelter, and they opened a freezer containment of bagged, euthanized dogs. And it broke my heart.
Casper's breed has a reputation for being gaurd dogs and they might be dangerous if hes not raised properly. Those pups might end up like that. Hes not not the type of person who should have such a dog let alone pups Thanks for the likes guys
Well Gunner lives with the stigma of a breed with a bad reputation, check out his videos of all the work, training and fun goes into making them a great dog.
I think they are wonderful family guardians. They need a strong leader, but grow up awesome. As long as you have 2 acres or more completely fenced with 6.5 foot steel fencing that goes underground and kids over the age of 10 they are awesome. His dog is beautiful. If he had a fenced yard and actually worked with the dog there wouldn't be an issue. Why didn't he go to a different dog trainer?
My dog has beautiful colouring on him and because of that I've been told TWICE that people would be willing to breed their dog with him. Once was a family friend and once a neighbor that breeds jack russells. The family friend offered me pick of the litter and 50% of profits, AS WELL as a stud fee. But I said no. Because I have no clue where those pups would end up and I couldn't live with myself knowing they could be dead or in a shelter because I wanted some money. Please be responsible!!
When I showed my colleague pictures of my girl the first thing she asked was if she could breed her dog with mine. She looked disappointed and didn't say anything when I told her that I already had my girl spayed. I don't understand how so many people don't realize how bad backyard breeding is. I know that I'm in no position to care for a litter of puppies.
My mom one time had someone ask if they could breed their stud with her cocker spaniel. They were so disappointed when she pointed out her dog was also male.
It makes me so mad that Victoria warned him that about his dog might bite someone but he didn't care he just wanted to show how "cool" he is with that breed and now the dog bit someone in a parking lot where they live because he didn't neuter him, train him and took properly care of him
Doesn’t want to “put his dog through castration” but is perfectly happy to have a dog who’s been mutilated by having most of his ears cut off just for an aesthetic.
The breeder I got my dog from would literally do anything for her puppies and takes them back at any point no matter what (which I obviously won't be doing) - I could tell she genuinely loved and cared for the breed and all her dogs which is why we decided to use her :) I do plan to rescue in the future but for my first dogs I wanted a pedigree so I was more likely to know the traits
Gina, there is no need to feel you have to explain why you got a dog from a good breeder. This idea that you should only get a dog from a shelter has gotten out of hand. Many people want and need a dog whose behavior and health they can predict. Bringing an unknown quantity into your home is a risk many people just won't take especially if they have children. If that's your dog in the avatar then it's gorgeous.
I think that's fine, and I don't agree with the sentiment that buying a dog from a good breeder kills a shelter dog necessarily. Honestly, at my local shelter, unless it's a bully breed they pretty much all get adopted within a week. Any type of small pretty dog gets adopted in less than twenty four hours. Unless you planned to get a pitbull, any dog you adopt from a shelter was definitely going to get adopted regardless.
I used to think that for good reasons puppies generally stay with their mother rather than with their father? So how did he think he would be the one to have Caspar-pups all around him after breeding him?
SuperSonicGoldens Yeah, but responsible breeders charge money because they care about where the animal is going and they give them vet treatment and proper care which costs them money. But the guy in the video clearly just wanted money from the sale of the puppies and he couldn’t even control his own dog! (Not hating just saying) (‘:
I agree you could see the cogs turning, presa dogs are expensive. He could get a lot of money for stud. Its all about the gangster look. Puppies are easy money. Never mind if the buyers don't know what they are doing. He probably won't even register the dogs, get them vet checked, pedigree certificates and the whole host of other things professional breeders do before they offer puppies. It will be an advert to his friends and anyone with money and no clue to hand over cash and take a puppy. He probably won't even let people know the pros AND cons of owning a presa.
There's actually very little evidence scientifically that neutering makes a difference with aggressive dogs. At the end of the day you have to stay committed to training
He should neuter his dog. If your dog is well adjusted in behavior. Just be aware the change of a male getting testicular caner is under 1% in dogs. Neutering a male raises a dogs risk of thyroid cancer as well as bone cancers and a rare form of heart cancer by more than 1%. It IS NOT a cure all.
I would've loved to breed my recently deceased labrador. He was so sweet and wonderful, that having another one like him would have been so great. However I had rescued him because someone didn't want him and dogs don't procreate like humans. Odds were that there would've been 5+ new dogs that I couldn't raise. Shea was neutered at 6mos and even though I wish I still had a piece of him still here, I know I made the right decision, not just for him but for all unloved dogs. Shea lived a long 14 years and was one of my bestest friends when I needed one.
That chain around that dogs neck infuriates me. I understand that with how the dog is right now it’s probably not a good idea to use a weak material collar or harness but it’s pissing me off the more I look at it.
@@rachellelouis-jacques6654 yes training is very important for any animal. (More so for a dog or an animal that stays in packs) many owners get a dog; dont train it and blame the dog when it doesn't act like how the are 'supposed' to like its the dogs fault. Dogs are animals they cant read minds they need to be show a way to act BEFORE correcting or shouting at them. Simply 'correcting' using shock collars will not do . The dog doest know any other way to act.
Crystal Rodrigues I agree. Pain will not make them behave better. It is better to reward when they are good then to punish them when they are supposedly acting “bad”.
YUS, victory bringing a reality check to the people who randomly decide to breed extremely common breeds of dogs that are overflowing in shelters for the sake of the novelty idea.
The only kind of breeding that I am somewhat ok with is breeding for betterment of the breed like making them have a better temperament or longer lifespan and even then I still think that we shouldn’t really be breeding dogs. Especially when it’s just people with a dog that don’t understand breeding or the downsides of breeding that have this idea in their head that they want cute little puppies from their dog.

Because he needs for someone to tell him that a dog shouldn't be locked in a room like a inmate on lock down 23 hours in 1 hour out. I don't call that love or what's best. Nobody needs a teacher to pass that test.
Realistically though if his friends are anything like him, the pups would eventually end up in a shelter. I foster dogs and the amount of bully breeds that pass through is extremely high. For one of the dogs it took an extremely long time to find an interested adopter that was willing to put in the required work. I know puppies are cute and they bring in revenue but once the cute puppy eyes go away and you now have a large dog that might not have been trained properly, do you think people will be willing to keep them?
"i don't wanna do that to my dog" .. do what to him? Help him out? I really don't know why so many people think spaying their dog is doing something bad to him..
kurtis howard because it’s an invasive surgery more so than a male dog. But you should be doing both. It also eliminates severe life threatening medical illnesses when neutered and spayed.
@kurtis howard neutering your dog will not change his genetics and i assure you, he will still be a male after surgery! Neutering prevents overpopulation and it prevents testicular cancer and prostate problems. When you exercise your pet and monitor food intake, he will stay fit and healthy. All my dogs were neutered bc i got them from animal shelters and none of them became overweight
@kurtis howard because spaying your female will not prevent cancer-development in your male dog! Example:You have to take medecine yourself to get healthy, nobody can do that for you. I dont say that everyone HAS to neuter their dogs, but if people cant handle the dogs testosterone and the dog is to focused on female dogs to get him properly trained, then it might be an option. Also, there are to many irresponsible breeders! they dont know what they are doing and cant take pups back if needed. For spaying, you have to cut the whole belly of the female as for male dog, only 2 small incisions are made as the testies are "outside" of the male. So its a much less complicated surgery as for females. But people tend to spay their females aswell bc they dont want them to get in heat.
"After the show aired the Leinwands heard of their condo board, which required the family to get rid of the dog or face a $500 fine per day. The board, which in 2009 gave the family permission to keep the dog, has placed a $45,000 lien on the home of the Leinwands and fines have now mounted to $80,000. The situation went from bad to worse, when a visitor was bit by the dog in his arm in the condominium parking lot, across the man's jacket and pricked the skin. The police seized the dog, who has been in a shelter in New Rochelle since then. The family comes to visit once a week. He said he is willing to spend their last penny to get justice for the dog, but lamented: "This ultimately can be a death sentence."
This is why I want to foster and train dogs when I'm older because seeing the scared dogs and the barking dogs and knowing they have no chance, makes me want to give them a chance. I want to do more for these dogs futures.
I wanted to breed by dogs and I know what this guy went through. It was a long hard decision to finally do it and even then I was skeptical. 1 year later, it was the BEST decision I’ve ever made. It gave me my dogs back. Less aggressive, less biting, and more love. Props to this guy for making the hard decision, I feel ya.
6:00 "i know a lot of people who would want that kind of dog and are responsible owners" they they were.. they would adopt those from the shelters and not wait for a free pupper!
... I have a pit bull and he’s not fixed. He’s a good boy. But this is making me feel like I’m doing something wrong not having him fixed... I don’t wanna breed him, but I just thought bc he’s had the whole package for so long it would make him depressed now.. he’s 2yo. He is well behaved, 90lbs. Doesn’t hump anything or mark anything.big ol sweetheart and cuddle bug
6:10 That pittie's cry... ;-; If I could, I would adopt a bully breed from a local shelter...But I live in an apartment and my parents aren't too eager to do it (They still are with the pit bull's stigmas, and even if they could, they wouldn't want to have a pit)
It's not only mastiffs, all dogs should be given time to grow up properly before they are neutered, doing that as early as possible can cause some problems
This is so upsetting. It hurts to hear the dogs being euthanized are not aware and giving you their paw to be your friend 08:00 It's insane that he never ended up neutering Casper.
breeding bully breeds is extremely irresponsible, only 25% of bully breed dogs go to homes as puppies and stay there their entire lives. please stop breeding presas/canes/bullies/pits/bulldogs/etc
You dont know what you are talking about. The American pitbull terrier is a pure breed of dog that can trace bloodlines back a hundred years or more they need a 4 generation pedigree to be registered with the ADBA. The shelters are not overflowing with the American pitbull terrier.
@Sarah A keep telling yourself that every animal I've had has been for the entirety of the animals life. Bully breed is a term uneducated people such as you use caused by your inability to differentiate between breeds with similar characteristics. There is a bully breed called the American Bully they can be registered with the abkc. Referring to a dog such as the Presa Canario as a bully breed makes no sense they have no bulldog in them they are molosser/mastiff. So why would they be a bully breed Sara? Terms like pitbull used as a way to describe a range of dog's that have their own name's is part of the problem. Misidentification has caused allot of damage so much that people like you think the shelters are overflowing with high end pure bread pedigree having ADBA registrable American pitbull terrier's. And the assumption you have of my worth says more about your bad character then it does about me and is nothing more then a pathetic attempt to add Worth to your opinions.
I've always wanted to get a doberman, but every time I see shelters, I want to go in and adopt a bully of some sort. I mean, why pay $1,000 or more for a dog that's going to get bought by someone either way, when there's dogs sitting in cages that are a hell of a lot cheaper and need homes so badly?
@Gi Gi not trying to sound rude or hateful, just genuinely curious. Have you ever educated yourself on the many reasons why people choose to Dock and crop their Doberman? It's for the dogs health. Dobermans have very long and thin tails that are majorly proned to breaking. Sure, a dobe can go through life and be fine, but chances are it will probably wack it off a table or door frame and snap that thin bone. As for the ears. Its a very simple and easy task that does two things to protect your dog. 1. It prevents horrible ear infections and ear rot by allowing them to air out their ears when they run. (Yes you can clean them but its hard to get deep enough for a deep clean) 2. It gives them the true dobie look. Love it or hate it people are intimidated by the standard Doberman appearance. But that's actually a very good thing. Doberman are very good dogs, but a lot get very defensive and do not like to be touched suddenly and without warning. Small children on the street have a thing for touching cute doggies and don't always ask. When a doberman has its ears floppy it is easily mistaken for a hound dog. A much more docile dog. If a little kid goes up and grabs your Doberman because it looks like a hound, it's still going to react like a doberman and might bite. Hope this wasnt too long of a read. Also getting from a reputable breeder is worth it. Doberman in shelters tend to be problem dogs because their owners dumped them their without any training or socializing.
@@kyrasan4916 cropping and docking is illegal in many European countries it doesn't harm the dogs health. That's a myth probably spread by people who want to degend this cruel tradition. Do you amputate parts of your body so they can't get hurt? Can't listen to this... And believe it children grab cropped dogs too. A guard dog is not supposed to bite a child in the streets. If your dog might bite harmless people keep it muzzled don't mutilate their body ffs and why get a dog from a breeder? So you can ruin that poor puppy instead of another owner? Shelter dogs are not broken sometimes they are simply surrendered because the owner died or had financial struggles
It wld hav been really helpful to follow up with these guys and see the benefits and positive outcome of their decision. I know sooooo many guys who have this incredibly fixed mindset. And to hear positive feedback from someone who was absolutely on their wave length wld be more persuasive than all the professional advice in the world.
Here’s the thing: He never changed. He never neutered his dog, never put in the training nor the exercise. Casper bit someone later on and was court ordered to be neutered and separated from this guy for eighteen months, and have to go through training with a professional.

Then gets all macho about neutering the dog
presa canarios are mastiff class not bully breeds but i see your point
one look at him and I think "wannabe" gangster
Probably wants to make a couple bucks more than helping the dog
When Victoria said, “they don’t know that they’re giving you their paw because the needle is going to go into it and they’re going to get put down” I got chills.

Me too
I was 4 when we got our first dog (she ended up being the most chill loving dog) but I have a strong memory of my dad telling me we needed to shelter her to make sure she wouldn't bite anyone (never happened once) but I think it was so important for me to hear, especially given the dogs we've had over the years
This man thinks he knows people who will be responsible owners of this breed of dog and yet, he is a textbook example of an owner who can not control said breed.

How is he not a good owner
He talks about people getting that type of dog without knowing how to handle them. Like.... dude... you're kinda one of those people yourself. Thankfully people can learn.
Apparently he isn't one of them, a former comment read an update he's still not neutered and attacked someone(?).
@@wolfygaming7222 he got in trouble with the law bc after the episode, he still didn't get him neutered and he bit someone, and that someone pressed charges. He had to get him neutered by court order and Casper is now forced to where a muzzle any time he's taken outside

When Victoria said “he likes the testicles” I laughed so hard lol
Damn that girl has the patience of a saint to deal with him. And by him I mean the owner not the dog
This show should be called “it’s you, not the dog”
We ended up getting our dog from craigslist and we’re so grateful we waited she’s the best thing ever
Unfortunately there’s way too many people who breed them for a quick buck. Not caring about vet care or where they go. Multiply that enough times over decades plus breed restrictions (usually based by appearance anyway) and you get this problem.
Hoho thank you for the correction. It’s awful that happened I feel so bad for the poor dog
That chain is the most unnecessary thing and heavy as hell.
he's literally one of those typical dog owners that make police officers shoot the type of the dog they see just cause it's a bully / pitbull.
He is still a kid, so I expect a little immaturity. At least he agreed to neuter his dog.

Exactly!!! There are plenty of dogs at shelters, especially bullies!

@wolfy johnson initially reading ur comments i though u supported irresponsible breeding of dogs
Wolf : Well said .
Exactly!
This is SUCH a good point! I he could get stuck with ALL the puppies!!!
I don’t really see the point in neutering a dog and I don’t understand why neutering would help his situation but what I do know is that in America there are huge overbreeding problems and people who destroy the gen pool so his dog probably shouldn’t breed that I agree with and he is way to immature/unreasonable he should learn how to actually care for a dog and train it
Please correct me if anyone is wrong here or their is other factors that I am not getting
(I am going to get a dog(most likely a collie or GMS/other herding breed) but I am not sure if I want to neuter I don’t necessarily want to breed my dog though i might consider it later. in my country there is no problem with overbreeding/stray dogs either.
Not sure if this matters but here is some more data if you care about that stuff
This is the data I found based on my country From what I could find around 300 dogs get put down every year due to aggressive behavior/rescue dogs but not because they attacked anyone just hard to rehabilitate them and no one wants them and around 8300 animals mostly dogs/cats get put down every year for other reasons like bad health age or other reason like aggressive behaviors

Victoria has really made her point and I’m glad she is sharing this with all of the people who watch this video and hope they adopt this type of dog and help those four million dogs.
Victoria is so confident! She really really cares.
The story I found online about Casper
A New York dog is paying the price for an owner who was unwilling to follow through on proper training.
The original story reported that “On the show, a trainer waved a big stick at Casper in a threatening manner and the dog lunged at him after being released by Eric Leinwand.”
In reaction to the article, Stillwell has come out with a statement explaining “I arranged for Eric to watch a demonstration with an experienced handler and his own trained protection dog to show, in a controlled scenario, how powerful a bully breed can be. This segment included the handler, his trained protection dog and an experienced trainer in a bite suit, who waved a bite stick at the trained protection dog and NOT CASPER - a common scenario in protection work. At no time was any stick waved at Casper.”
At the time when Eric purchased the dog, his condo association gave him permission to keep the dog despite the community’s no-dog rule. Over time the community grew worried about Casper and his owner, and even though reports suggest “all of the problems” started when they appeared on the show, Stillwell states “there is no doubt that the biting episodes which actually triggered the dispute would have occurred (probably even sooner) without him appearing on the show.”
The episode of It’s Me or the Dog shows that despite urging from Stillwell to have the dog neutered and arrangements made by her for Eric to work with other area trainers after her departure- Eric did not follow through on much of the training, did not work with any trainers nor did he neuter Casper, leaving him to his previous behaviors which lead to events that caused the dog to act out towards the visitor.
Westchester County judge Walter Rivera labeled Casper as “dangerous” but also ruled to spare his life. The judge also ordered that he must be neutered, visit a “board certified animal behaviorist” and not go out in public without a muzzle.

WHY ARE GUYS SO PROTECTIVE IVER THIER DOGS BALLS LIKE ITS THEIR OWN
Because they like to compare it or envision it's comparable to having their's chopped off, which is ridiculous and even the veterinary profession don't understand why it's a thing, they fail to realize once a male dog is neutered, they could frankly care less over them.
I work in veterinary and find that when I say to male owners that you can do somehting when you feel the hormones taking control. You are leaving your male dog feeling all these breeding feelings and then not letting him use them. Imagine how frustrating that is!
I would guess fragile masculinity.
There's too many homeless dogs in the animal shelters and on the streets.
My dogs are fixed too because we don’t want puppy’s like she said there’s experts to do that
@@SunShine-fg4hg So true and one of the myths that the novice breeders think is that breeders make a lot of money. When in truth they do not. There's vet checkups, dog food, making sure that the mother is getting everything she needs. Also, there is getting the puppies papers and cost of delivering to the new owners and just so much.
I never had to get any of my dogs fixed but.... they also never had that kind of energy. In fact, me and my mom joked that Guinea by the time he realized he had a pair he was in his seniors years and to slow to even chase the females. lol.
My dad thinks my dogs should breed too! At first i was like ok but after watching this show i was like DONT BREED
Thank you Victoria for taking care of the dogs!
Besides creating more unwanted dogs, these “backyard breeders” don’t concern themselves with the gene pool they are dealing with. They don’t deal with the health or temperament of the future puppies.
Makes me question his own gene pool
I had wanted to breed my standard people. I talk to a woman breeding standards. I asked her how do I know if the male traits will enhance the breed with my female. She said she didn’t know. She just uses any male with her females. I had my dog spayed with a month. I didn’t want to be a backyard breeder who breed poor quality of dogs.
Victoria, I love how you tell owners the truth of a situation even if it's uncomfortable and something that they don't want to hear. It's also strange that a dog owner would want to breed a dog that he himself can not control. Make new episodes for us, Victoria! We learn so much from you!

Let's be honest, that man don't even know how to take care of dog and his mind acts like he is 11 years old.
I'm 11 so I would no how a 11 year old thinks about animals I love animals and would never hurt them so you're wrong
rainbow lover I think the comment was less about disparaging 11 year olds and more about the importance of maturity! It’s awesome if you’re that young and know what it takes to care for an animal, but most aren’t. This man was very selfish in wanting to breed his dog, so he needed to gain maturity and understanding to take care of his dog better. I’m glad there are responsible kids like you who are passionate about animal care

Well Gunner lives with the stigma of a breed with a bad reputation, check out his videos of all the work, training and fun goes into making them a great dog.
The Presa Canario was originally bred to work livestock - so they would have a higher instinct to guard than some other breeds.
It would also be the female dog owner that keeps the pups, so unless he's planning on buying a 2nd dog..
It makes me so mad that Victoria warned him that about his dog might bite someone but he didn't care he just wanted to show how "cool" he is with that breed and now the dog bit someone in a parking lot where they live because he didn't neuter him, train him and took properly care of him
Bro even if he did nutered him he still would of got bit
Doesn’t want to “put his dog through castration” but is perfectly happy to have a dog who’s been mutilated by having most of his ears cut off just for an aesthetic.
The breeder I got my dog from would literally do anything for her puppies and takes them back at any point no matter what (which I obviously won't be doing) - I could tell she genuinely loved and cared for the breed and all her dogs which is why we decided to use her :)
I do plan to rescue in the future but for my first dogs I wanted a pedigree so I was more likely to know the traits
If that's your dog in the avatar then it's gorgeous.
groundcontrol436385 100% agree and thank you - she’s amazing!
You don't know the traits of a puppy. You know the traits when you adopt an adult dog because they are fully developed.
He just wants to make money breeding his dog, he’s irresponsible he shouldn’t be allowed to own a dog!
All breeders make money from breeding so your comment is irrelevant
"Allowed"? He isn't 6 yrs of age, and she is not his parent.
SuperSonicGoldens obviously you don’t care about dogs being put down, do you work in a puppy mill?
Who else wanted to cry when she explained the reality of what happens to bully breeds i know i did
i cried when i saw those dogs in the shelter and knowing that some of them might not get a chance at a happy life, its just so sad
Imagine being more worried about 2 balls that wont even know you cut them off, than your dogs well being...
Imagine losing your balls tho.

The only kind of breeding that I am somewhat ok with is breeding for betterment of the breed like making them have a better temperament or longer lifespan and even then I still think that we shouldn’t really be breeding dogs. I know everyone is upset about the owner but there was definitely growth with him! He’s young and immature but he obviously loves that dog and wants to do what’s best for it.. it’s just takes time and someone like Victoria to be able to help him realize what is best.
Because he needs for someone to tell him that a dog shouldn't be locked in a room like a inmate on lock down 23 hours in 1 hour out. I don't call that love or what's best. Nobody needs a teacher to pass that test.
Seeing all those dogs in the shelter rly broke my heart, I'm 100% adopting when I'm old enough
@kurtis howard well that's just not true and i'm talking about both - male and female .
@kurtis howard . So what's the temperament, of the unneutered one?
But people tend to spay their females aswell bc they dont want them to get in heat.
bless u! victoria
"After the show aired the Leinwands heard of their condo board, which required the family to get rid of the dog or face a $500 fine per day.
The board, which in 2009 gave the family permission to keep the dog, has placed a $45,000 lien on
the home of the Leinwands and fines have now mounted to $80,000.
I want to do more for these dogs futures.

breeding bully breeds is extremely irresponsible, only 25% of bully breed dogs go to homes as puppies and stay there their entire lives. please stop breeding presas/canes/bullies/pits/bulldogs/etc
(Yes you can clean them but its hard to get deep enough for a deep clean)
