Wow, Rude is surprisingly pragmatic about so much in his life, including his relationship with Baron and the documentary. I was already a huge fan but this interview really had me hooked. Thanks!
Another wonderful episode. I could listen to Steve Rude all day and always learn something new about making comics. He's so reflective about the craft and medium.
Had no idea you were going to be interviewing the great Steve Rude! Excellent. Never knew he was a fellow Seuss fan, either. Great interview (as always). Steve is a living legend.
I totally agree with Steve about the title " cartoonist". A comic book artist is something very different than that. The skill set required to produce a comic book page is so far advanced that they are almost different artforms. Not to denigrate cartoonists. I love that stuff too.
Great interview, guys! I started reading Nexus in May1983 and I’m really enjoying The Coming of Gormando and The Battle for Thune World! I met Mike &Steve back in October of 1994 and Steve in my hometown,Buffalo in 2015, Steve’s admiration for Jack Kirby has always stood out to me and we chatted about Jack and Steve doesn’t mince words either! Lol! Just glad to have some new Nexus stories to read again! For Xmas I picked up the HUGE Nexus art book of the Coming of Gormando! Absolutely beautiful book and just glad to see that Steve is really enjoying doing Nexus after 44+ years and I gotta give a shout out to Glenn Whitmore and his awesome colors! Still reading anything Mike Baron writes and I am supporting his Nexus stories and of course the Badger!❤️Thanks for the great interview!😎👍🎯⚡️👋
Alex, I love these interviews, keep them coming : ) Man, Im not a big fan of Kirby, but I respect the guy a bunch. he's dynamics was awesome. Im mostly a big fan of John buscema. I was/am always very picky about anatomy and realism, and I believe John brought that to the point. Steve Rude is a nice guy, he was the only guy I reached out via email, and he replied giving me feed back on my art. He's always studying art which I wish I was the same way. The one thing Steve is not fan of is the feathering inking, that was always very surprising for me.

Steve ' the dude ' is one of the greatest. Nexus is pure badassness.❤😂
If Steve Rude was the regular penciller of a Superman title, I would subscribe.
