Jim Starlin is among the grandmasters of the greatest illustrators of all time. His run on Warlock made me look up everything he ever did. And one of the titles I collected a complete run on and completed 😂❤
Thank you Alex, and Jim, for this wonderful interview. It's fascinating for me to hear the inside stories of what happens behind the doors, and I find it amazing these stories make it out despite all the challenges. The Death of Captain Marvel had a great impact on me as a young reader, along with The Price, and I'm eternally thankful for Jim's work.
A great in-depth interview with an artist/writer that gave us so much over decades. I was teenager when he came onto the scene & he & the other young lions of the day totally blew my mind. His novels were wonderful as well. Why Hollwood hasn't had the wisdom to adapt them is beyond me. I had to breakup my viewing over a couple of sittings, but it was well worth it. I only wished Gil Kane was still around. I'd love to hear the stories he had to tell.
Jim's Warlock was my entrée to comics (and reading!) as a kid in the mid-70s and i followed his work through DOCM to Dreadstar and beyond and i want to thank him for the world of imagination he gave me, and you for this interview.
He is such an amazing artist, I enjoyed this interview so much. AH! BTW with our present economy here in Argentina you can't live with that money per page any longer.
Regarding losing one's fire with age, the Infinity Entity and Conflict series only came out a few years ago and I think it's up there with the best stuff that Jim has produced. The idea of Warlock containing the power of an entire universe was next-level.
I'm a huge fan of Jim Starlin's work. It's a damn shame how Marvel has treated him over the last 14 years. Tom Brevoort (who has a history of being disrespectful and treating older veteran comic creators like crap) once said Starlin (back when he was on the outs with Marvel around the time the first AVENGERS movie came out) would only get rehired by Marvel if he apologizes to Joe Quesada for what he said to him.
I like Thanos for a lot of reasons and having young superheroes in comics is neat too. Those are both things that Starlin would not like me for. I've heard his opinions before.
HEY, I wonder if my copy of The Death Of Captain Marvel is worth anything? It has SUPERMAN attending the funeral on the back cover-- in the spot where it has Cyclops in this video!

Good stuff.
Thanks!
One of my favorite comics creators. Starlin brought life to some of the best, most mature and balanced characters in a mainstream publishing line.
Wow--what a find. Your channel is a gift. Glad to see Jim is doing well. His work meant a lot to me growing up. Cheers!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Incredible insights from a cosmic legend! Jim Starlin’s journey and creations are truly timeless. Thanks, Alex, for bringing this interview to life!
Jim is a true visionary, glad you enjoyed the interview!
Thank you! This should make today’s workout go by quickly.
Glad it can help!
@@ComicBookHistoriansListening right now: thanks again!

Mr Starlin is one of my favorite writers and artist. I try and buy everything he writes and draws.😊
Bro, thanks so much for this interview. Starlin, Kirby, Byrne, Simonson, and Miller are my favorite writer-artists.
