In the clips they showed of Love it reminded me of Roger's when he was releasing the ball. Nice, compact, and quick. It amazes me seeing how they throw so far with such a small wind up.
I think people are forgetting the animosity that was between them? Or Brady and Garoppolo? Or between Favre and Rodgers, or Rodgers and Love. Roethlisberger and Rudolph. Starting QBs hate backup QBs with potential. The best backup QB in the starting QBs mind is someone who isn't all that good and just there to be their friend. They can become friends after the fact, like with Bledsoe and Brady and Favre and Rodgers, but during it the rook is trying to take the job of the vet and the vet is doing everything in their power to make sure the rook knows jack. It’s one thing to sit behind a vet at 21 like Love did, he got to start at 24. If penix sits for a few years he’ll be pushing thirty before he takes a starting snap.
it's very beneficial for anyone in any job to watch someone who knows what they are doing, do the job, without any pressure on yourself, being able to soak it all in, and then later, once you grasp it more, then you start dipping in.
FYI Tom Clement’s has been a qb coach since 1992 he also is a cfl hall fame he was inducted in 19994 he was the qb coach for notra dame for 4 years starting in 1992 he coach Cordell Stewart in Pittsburgh also drew with the bills also he has been with the packers since 2006. He holds a stander that can’t be matched.
I think that some of this is correct but some of it's also incorrect. Because there's the example of Jimmy G, he sat behind. What is statistically the greatest quarterback in nfl history, Jimmy G for crying out loud, got benched by the Raiders.
dude the amount of times i’ve heard the “if andrew luck got to sit behind peyton manning” take, listening to Pat for 3 years now is insane. he either doesn’t realize how much he says it because of the vitamins or he just talks too much for a living that he kinda has no choice but to repeat himself 😂
The problem is the value is upside down. The young QB is generally making less than the vet, but nobody wants to pay a vet a lot of money while the rookie sits on the bench unless you're Atlanta.
This is why I was hoping as a Michigan fan that JJ went to somewhere to be a backup like new Orleans to Derek Carr or something. Having a star quarterback to study off of is immensely useful.
Two things: 1. We don’t know yet what kind of head coach Jerod Mayo will become, but the fact is, he’s a walk, don’t run kind of leader, and that’s what Drake Maye needs going into his rookie season. 2. As we all know, the big knock on Maye is his footwork, and I don’t think he starts until Mayo is happy with it, even if the team goes 0-17. I would hope Brisset doesn’t suck enough that we go winless with him starting, but if that’s what it takes to get Maye’s feet to an NFL level, so be it. It just means we get to draft a stud at receiver in 2025.
Pat behind Alex. Lamar behind Flacco. Honestly, any job ever in life, If someone have been doing a successful job for 10+ years? It is an opportunity, to learn.
This is why bears sending fields off for a 6th vs letting Williams learn behind him for one year will be the worst decision in a history of bad bears decisions.
Im very excited for JJ Mccarthy he has the best situation of these young QBs has some really smart offensive Coaches who dont want to force JJ but help him learn we have two former QBs who are gonna help JJ in Kevin O'Connell and Josh McCown.
As a Pats fan, I respect everything Brady says, but I want to see if the guy we just drafted is any good. I’d rather not wait another year while he sits on the bench
It's too late for this, but you should have stuck what you did with Brady. They drafted him, let him sit and he balled out after that. That drivel is what teams like the Bears do. They throw them into the fire and they bust.
@@joshbeezley4158 I’m not saying it’s the right thing to do. But it will be frustrating to watch a whole season go by without seeing if our new #3 draft pick QB is any good or not
As a Bucs and Jameis Winston fan, this is why I was so bummed Jameis didn’t decide to take less to stay in Tampa and learn under Tom for those two years, instead of taking less to be a backup qb on the Aints…still rooting for him now that he’s in Cleveland now, but I wonder “what if”
Mac Jones wasn’t developed as a Rookie! It’s why he crashed. He had a lot of turnovers too. Mac should have waited until his 2nd or 3 yr to be QB1. He was a alternate as a Pro Bowl & only got 2 votes as Rookie of the year. He froze because he got saturated too fast! 2021, He got 3Xs more weapons than they gave Cam Newton in 2020. 😳
Lamar and Patrick sat their rookie years and they are probably the best 2 , burrow the other one and he had a over full college career so he just was older
Even teams who don't have a star quarterback don't truly develop a second quarterback and I never understood why. Give them some time to learn a system and if the one guy isn't advancing maybe promote from within. Most times they sign these guys just to fill a roster spot in practice, but the Packers draft them and develop them in their system. I think that's why you see Packers backups having signature games or finding careers elsewhere.
Boston Connor: "I'm so excited about the situation in NE but the difference between Atlanta is that those other teams already had those guys..." New England Patriots: Signed Jacoby Brissett on March 11, 2024

Well Tom, Garoppolo sat behind the greatest qb of all time and look where he is now 💀 It depends on the quarterback, like Jordan Love, it was a great situation for him, then theres quarterbacks like Cj Stroud that can come out hot from college
That’s the problem with these terrible organizations! They are too impatient to start a rookie QB out of desperation for any sort of success but you can’t do that without a cast around them or a veteran QB! That’s why I rather start a veteran than a rookie
Who was the last 1st overall pick to go into the NFL and be elite right away? It has happened before but it definitely takes a really special type of someone to do it. CJ Stroud is a rare human
T-law has been decent, but not elite. He’s the last guy I can think of who has any measure of success as someone who got forced to start right away as the #1 overall pick
I honestly don’t think people have ever seen Rodgers play in college. He was so awkward! The dude was like a robot, I’ve never seen anything like it. Rodger’s play style completely transformed over his time behind Favre. If Rodger’s started day 1 and tried to play with the his arm up by his ear marching with a wide stance in the pocket like he did in college he would have never got a second contract. His style in year 3 was night and day opposites from his college play. Love mimics Rodgers style too. There were times last season I forgot I was watching love because it looked so much like Rodgers. It’s not just mechanics and style it’s leadership, the knowledge of the playbook and NFL defenses. It’s how to lead, and also what not to do… when you start day 1 in a crappy organization you don’t have anyone to look to. There is drama everywhere. You don’t have time to fix anything so your bad habits become permanent. You don’t learn leadership from anyone so you wing it and may develop bad leadership qualities too. Most of these guys have 2-4 different offensive coordinator/ HCs in their first 4 years too so they never get comfortable. Having 3 years to learn 1 offense, how to perfect your craft physically, mentally, and habitually you have a huge leg up on your first start.
I think teams are starting to catch on to the GB way… One big difference, about Atlanta’s situation, Pennix is 24 years old. So, if he sits for a couple years, man….
Unless you Josh Allen! Had him behind peterman 😂we shut that down so fast! Some qbs need to sit behind people and some you just gotta throw out there so they can learn
For every Love who sits and watches and gets better, there’s a Stroud who jumps in instantly and helps turn the whole franchise around in one season. That being said, every team with a franchise QB need to pay attention to what the Packers have been able to do, they literally have a 100% success rate with 1st round QBs. And have had an MVP caliber QB(I’m assuming Love is gonna look even better this year) constantly since the early 90s. Like 30 straight years, so if the Patriots would have picked a 1st round QB and actually kept them to sit until Brady left maybe they’d still near the top of the league instead of what actually happened
@@dougvuillemot8670 yeah but is he a good QB? Most QBs in the NFL are millionaires and any QB would’ve gone to the SB with that 49ers team. They probably would’ve even won if Jimmy G played better
They just need to sit to learn and adapt to the NFL I've been saying this for decade's now 95% of these guys aren't ready like that......franchises need more patience coaches need more patience and willingness to adapt and work with a qbs strengths instead of forcing their way on them work with your qb not against him adjust your playbook to them not the other way around but too much ego involved for that to ever be a reality so you get these qbs who are out the league in 2 and a half seasons
What's crazy is owners thinking they don't have time to be patient...yes you do. You could be terrible for decades and still have fans handing you money hand over fist. Owners have the time they just don't want to wait.
It wasn't Fitz or Tyrod. Nathan Peterman started 2, Derek Anderson started 2, and Matt Barkley started 1. Then Josh was handed the keys and started 11.
49ers are a great regular season team but definitely not a top team altogether, and no one wants to admit it but the coaching is the issue, they have amazing players with a great offensive scheming coach, but it's about alot more than just scheming, they never seem to be prepared for any games@@trysephiroth007
the whole system is flawed because of the "win now" culture of the NFL. Coaches get fired much faster than they used so they feel pressured to play the young guys so they can show "potential" for what next season could look like if they just get another year.
Penix gameplay is completely different from kirks. Itd be like taking lamar jackson to sit behind brady. Completely different playmaking abilities. Like if you think the dark horse if this rookie QB class is Bo Nix. I was hoping i could have gotten him in my dynasty league but didn't play out that way.

it's very beneficial for anyone in any job to watch someone who knows what they are doing, do the job, without any pressure on yourself, being able to soak it all in, and then later, once you grasp it more, then you start dipping in.
Maye will sit behind Brisset and become a legend
Even Brady sat behind Bledsoe for over a year.
I hope JJ sits entire year honestly let him learn he’s young
Michael Penix to the MOON!
dude the amount of times i’ve heard the “if andrew luck got to sit behind peyton manning” take, listening to Pat for 3 years now is insane. he either doesn’t realize how much he says it because of the vitamins or he just talks too much for a living that he kinda has no choice but to repeat himself 😂
Then why is everyone STILL bullying and hating on the Falcons' Penix selection?
He's right. It works best with having the rookie for long term success
Jordan Love had Aaron Rodgers to watch and Aaron Rodgers had Brett Favre to watch!
Two things:
Honestly, any job ever in life,
If someone have been doing a successful job for 10+ years?
It is an opportunity, to learn.
I've been out of the loop. does Pat still have Aaron on his show?
I’ve said this for years. The jets are finally having Travis play behind two vets and hopefully it works
HOW does Pat not realize that Andrew Luck had NO O-line to protect him?? .. Also it was 💯 Jim’s fault
Steve Young - the OG backup to Joe Montana
Farve started immediately, caught his first pass, GOAT
Farve did not start immediately. He was 1 year in Atlanta and backup until Don Majkowski got hurt in the 2nd game.
@@pokor5791 Leave the casuals alone you bully
@@ImAGoldenGod-yx6by No BS on my watch, sorry.
@@pokor5791 it was a sarcastic joke
I forgot Mahomes sat behind Alex Smith in his rookie year
This is why bears sending fields off for a 6th vs letting Williams learn behind him for one year will be the worst decision in a history of bad bears decisions.
Im very excited for JJ Mccarthy he has the best situation of these young QBs has some really smart offensive Coaches who dont want to force JJ but help him learn we have two former QBs who are gonna help JJ in Kevin O'Connell and Josh McCown.
Mahomes sat behind smith for a year. If your gonna use an example use that one
I’m a Texans fan and I thought going into last season they should have done that with CJ Stroud. Boy was I wrong lol
But it will be frustrating to watch a whole season go by without seeing if our new #3 draft pick QB is any good or not
This show is awesome
Absolutely. I hate the whole “we gotta pay you $300 million dollars in 4/5 years so we need to find out if you’re ready NOW😰”
As a Bucs and Jameis Winston fan, this is why I was so bummed Jameis didn’t decide to take less to stay in Tampa and learn under Tom for those two years, instead of taking less to be a backup qb on the Aints…still rooting for him now that he’s in Cleveland now, but I wonder “what if”
Eh he’s in a better place now, the saints under Dennis Allen are not a franchise you wanna be on
Just because they sit for 4 years doesn't make them ready. The last play of the season for love showed he still isn't ready.
Herbert sat behind Taylor, huge benefits
but only a few games
Even teams who don't have a star quarterback don't truly develop a second quarterback and I never understood why. Give them some time to learn a system and if the one guy isn't advancing maybe promote from within. Most times they sign these guys just to fill a roster spot in practice, but the Packers draft them and develop them in their system. I think that's why you see Packers backups having signature games or finding careers elsewhere.
Boston Connor: "I'm so excited about the situation in NE but the difference between Atlanta is that those other teams already had those guys..."
New England Patriots: Signed Jacoby Brissett on March 11, 2024
Brissett used to be a patriot so he already knows what it's like to be a patriot
@@kimyona9746 Yea I know but in 2016. It was under a different coach too though and, the point still stands.
@@AaronWood-zy3mj i agree and disagree as Jerod Mayo is kind of an extension of belichick. It just feels like it was a little earlier than even he expected
Well Tom, Garoppolo sat behind the greatest qb of all time and look where he is now 💀 It depends on the quarterback, like Jordan Love, it was a great situation for him, then theres quarterbacks like Cj Stroud that can come out hot from college
Jimmy G was great for a minute there.
Tom Brady should just say, “you aren’t going to be me”
That’s the problem with these terrible organizations! They are too impatient to start a rookie QB out of desperation for any sort of success but you can’t do that without a cast around them or a veteran QB! That’s why I rather start a veteran than a rookie
Count on the Bears to continue ignoring this advice.
Well Why everyone so upset about ATL drafting A Qb to sit under a veteran
That rookie is like 25 years old
He jus don't want no one to touch his records lol , like they're already almost impossible to surpass
Andrew luck said hold my beer
Here we go atlanta let's get it!!!
Did PMS purposely pick 3 clips where Love looked like Rodgers moving and throwing?
No QB should start week 1 as a rookie. Even if you plan on them getting in, they should get 5 weeks off the bench minimum
No, no… I want to hear all the people who were outraged about Penix Jr to argue with Tom Brady.
Having 3 years to learn 1 offense, how to perfect your craft physically, mentally, and habitually you have a huge leg up on your first start.
spencer rattler learning behind derrick carr then taking the job
hard to find franchise qb's
I think teams are starting to catch on to the GB way… One big difference, about Atlanta’s situation, Pennix is 24 years old. So, if he sits for a couple years, man….
C J will flush this whole convo down the toilet
I know Pittsburgh fan, Rudolph and Big Ben, Rudolph started to full fill his potential then they let him go.
With this topic how did they not even mention the Vikings??
Theres nothing that suggests it does anything. If every Hall of Fame QB played right off the bat most if not all would still be HOF'ers.
Who did Marino learn from?
Nobody and the def still sucked
Didn’t work out too great for Jimmy G
He's been too a Superbowl and is a millionaire. He's doing just fine.
@@dougvuillemot8670 yeah but is he a good QB? Most QBs in the NFL are millionaires and any QB would’ve gone to the SB with that 49ers team. They probably would’ve even won if Jimmy G played better
Brady Rodgers Mahomes Big Ben and even Eli didn’t start right off let qbs learn
He’s not wrong. Maybe 1 has the talent to play. But I think they should sit for A bit to watch and learn from..!
Allen didn’t sit behind Fitzpatrick. It was Tyrod
It wasn't Fitz or Tyrod. Nathan Peterman started 2, Derek Anderson started 2, and Matt Barkley started 1. Then Josh was handed the keys and started 11.
Unless you’re Brock Purdy
BCB ❤
He had 4 years and a big chip on his shoulder... and got to watch from the side line 2 QBs in front of him.
He did get to watch most of the season and took over one of the the best teams in the NFL.
49ers are a great regular season team but definitely not a top team altogether, and no one wants to admit it but the coaching is the issue, they have amazing players with a great offensive scheming coach, but it's about alot more than just scheming, they never seem to be prepared for any games@@trysephiroth007
@@NoToBigBro100%, and no pressure of being #1 pick (or #3, like Trey)
Yea but other teams don’t have a aaron rodgers brett favre or Alex smith to sit behind them of a year to learn most rookie just get thrown out
the whole system is flawed because of the "win now" culture of the NFL. Coaches get fired much faster than they used so they feel pressured to play the young guys so they can show "potential" for what next season could look like if they just get another year.
Conner what the hell u talking about man, fitz never played with josh allen, josh started week 2 of his rookie year😂
Penix gameplay is completely different from kirks. Itd be like taking lamar jackson to sit behind brady. Completely different playmaking abilities. Like if you think the dark horse if this rookie QB class is Bo Nix. I was hoping i could have gotten him in my dynasty league but didn't play out that way.
