    Do you know anyone on heroin? What is the thing that scared you the most about using it?

    • @Paradox3627505
      @Paradox3627505 5 лет назад +274

      What scared me the most is how much money can be lost from a household due to the addiction. Some people I know that used it all the time spent lots of $ over the long run and whenever they tried to quit the dealer insisted on giving them free-bee's or extended their lines of credit all the time.

      The scariest thing about using heroin is the fear of what happens to you when you come off of it. It's a horrible feeling and never want to experience it ever. You honestly would rather die than go through a cold Turkey detox.

      i find addiction to be a hard concept to grasp, i myself have never been hooked on anything, for example in college i was drinking like a fish, one night i got jaundice in my eyes after drinking a 6 pack of tall boys and a 40, ive had about 3 beers since i left school in 2 years 🤷‍♂️ i never have a craving for a cigarette either, i can drop anything

      @Cloaked Well that’s good for you, but I promise that if you do anything for a long enough period of time you *will* change the way your brain processes things. Dopamine isn’t really a “feel good” neurotransmitter, it’s a reinforcement learning-mechanism that can also make you feel good. Basically all drugs of abuse affect dopamine receptors (either directly or indirectly) and dopamine is key to reinforcement learning. Even if you haven’t become addicted to something yet, if you do it enough you *will* become “addicted” at least psychologically, eventually. Every time you use a drug (even alcohol), it’s basically teaching your brain to keep using it and each time it will become harder for you to “unlearn” it.

      @@cloaked2562 what is the one thing all addicts have in common? Every single one said what you said that they would never get addicted and they could stop at any time. Unfortunately I don't think you understand the sheer amount of people who have said the exact words you have, who are now either dead or deep in the throes of addiction spiraling out of control.

    My mom was a user, and she actually died of an overdose of it in 2017. She was heavily addicted since her very early twenties. She was a great woman and an amazing mother, but addiction turned her into what seemed like a complete different person. I still remember the day I was told she died like it happened yesterday (I was around 9 or 10 years old at the time yes im young). It affects me and my father to this day, it's absolutely heartbreaking that addiction changed her brain to only feel okay when she was high. I wish the best for any others with addicted family or friends, its incredibly hard to deal with for everyone involved.

    • @tubucoco
      @tubucoco Год назад

      Yes, I can answer why your Mom was a completely different person because I'm a struggling addict. The drug gives you a false euphoria, you feel really good for a few hours, maybe 8 hrs if you lucky. Then when it wears off you go through what is called dope sickness where you start feeling really bad, agitated and all. You go from joking and clowning around with people to wanting to tear someone's head off because you feel so bad. Yes, it changes you and your brain and all because the longer you're on it, you become dependent on it. It's a wicked drug, and I don't wish it on anyone. It's very hard to get off because you stay so sick you have to keep going back to it and you spend money like crazy. You just want the hurt to stop, so, some people can run through their life savings. I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, and God bless you and your father. May she R.I.P.!

    My mom was an addict for what I can only assume is years, until she was arrested when the police raided our house for identity theft. When she got back from her prison sentence a year later, she told me the most terrifying thing.
    She described how the “prison” she went to was more like a 3-star hotel. She told me how the only thing that showed her how addicted she was was when she considered literally digging thru other prisoners’ feces just to get another hit. Even worse, she told me that if she had access to it, she had no doubt in her mind she would do it again.
    The problem isn’t just the drugs. It’s the prison system that doesn’t rehabilitate the addicts.

    Hey guys! Whoever is seeing this I wish you all the best and strength to get through what you’re going through I’ve been clean off opiates since 2015 I’ve been clean off Xanax since the beginning of 2018. And I’m in the process of detoxing from methadone. Tbh I should’ve got off at around 2017 but I got just so content and comfortable with where I was. Keep passing drug tests you don’t have to go every day so I only have to go once a month so it don’t really bother me. But you can tell myself along with a few others you can tell don’t really belong there. Because a lot of people don’t take the recovery serious they just do it not to get sick no more and they still to other drugs Xanax to boost their high…. and to be honest I was scared to get off because I didn’t know how bad it would be to detox and to be honest it’s not bad at all I don’t even feel going down the 3 mg every other week. I was just very content and not ready but I now realize that was a lie I was definitely ready but it was just too lazy.
    Detox nice and slow at a comfortable right and you will be just fine.… but after that don’t be afraid to go see a therapist because you’re so drunk abuse message emotional physical well-being to where your whole balance is a little sense… even though nobody can tell on our side you can still feel it on the inside….
    You will do this!!!!! 💪🏻 🙏🏻🤙🏻😁

    Never been an addict myself, but I fell head over heels for an addict a couple years ago. He actually went to rehab two days after meeting me. We were very on and off. He’d block me when he would relapse, then come back after he had been a clean for a couple months. I saw him for who he was past his addiction which is something he couldn’t do himself anymore. Never tried heroine but I've been on methadone for many, many years. I finally snapped out of it. I believe doing daily yoga for about a year helped me tremendously & so do my friends delta 8 & 9. You have to change a lot of things to stay clean & you're going to have to find a healthy replacement for the void. Some kind of faith helps too. Not saying it must be God but some sort of faith will help. Everyone is different. Take it slow. Tapering very gradually & listening to your body. I was on it heavy for 17 years & I never thought this day would come. I was simply tired of the handcuffs & was willing to do whatever I had to do to get off it. I still experienced minor withdrawals weaning slowly but I'd eat a delta 8 gummie or smoke a little delta 9 & that was enough to help me through it.
    That was what worked for me & keeping my yoga routine. Everyone is different though, so find whatever works for you & don't give up. We all fall. We just have to get back up.

    Switzerland did a very smart thing: When more and more people did start taking heroine, instead of preventing them from doing it (if they did so everyone would do it illegaly), they built special centers, that addicted people could come to, and there they would get controlled doses and clean syringes, to prevent even more damage happening to the people. That made it possible for the addicted ones to live a normal live again (don't remember exactly if they got clean), about 80% of them.

      This is a weak video. All the usual suspects who would be expected to hate the Swiss program now see the positive effects. With most now using government dope there were far fewer using 'on the street' and the illegal market was without consumers; thus, far fewer new customers were being introduced to the drug. Must be nice to live in a place where the political leaders act rationally with fact-based programs and a real commitment to harm reduction. Not sure how this program would work with drugs, like coke and meth, which do real harm to the body and society, but, hey, baby steps.

I figured it was psychological, but maybe not. Takes a mighty strong Will to quit on your own, though!! Been doing heroin/fentanyl on and off since 2008. Mostly on. Have overdosed and almost died at least 5 different times (always after stretches of clean time), have spent a total of 2 and a half years in jail and prison, and even more time in rehab and halfway houses. I started taking methadone last year and managed to stay clean-ish for a while. I got a job and my own apartment, got a car to get to and from work and the methadone clinic. By all appearances i live a normal life, except im actually very depressed and often contemplate suicide, and fully relapsed about 2 months ago. Now i have a methadone and fentanyl habit (fentanyl is way cheaper and stronger, and most "heroin" is actually just fentanyl these days). I want to get clean so bad, but mostly i just want to be happy. I want to start going to NA meetings and make sober friends. Im 30 now and the last 10 years of my life have been a waste. People my age have children, careers, are married. I have none of that. Just a lonely apartment that i come home to after work where i shoot up and go to sleep, and do it again the next day. My life is so sad. Barely worth even living to be honest.

      I feel you 10000% man. If you get clean it's not perfect, the depression is still there, but being clean (I still smoke weed and drink sometimes) allows you to see the real, genuine you that you remember yourself as when you were a kid, and you start realizing little by little that you're still in there. You can't get out of that hole until you stop digging, though. If you can brave your way through the torture at first (I'm sure you already know you can get through withdrawals as much as it sucks) life can get better, and you can still be happy. All is not lost. Much love man Merry Christmas

    • @LJT9393

      Jen & Juice stick with the methadone and just stop the fentanyl, you won’t really withdrawal since you’re taking methadone, and then get on some anti depressants bro. I take Wellbutrin, but you may require a different one, everyone’s brain chemistry is different. I’m on suboxone tho, and hear better things from it, but either one will work if you want to get off the down. You can do it!
