      Beethoven has such short, focused, and rhythmic lines that just translate really well to "heavy" instrumentation. Orchestra, electric instruments, piano, etc.

    8:16 it’s a variation on the Casey Claw, which is like playing a double stroke roll but you do the weird claw grip in one hand to play doubles. the difference is that with what he’s doing, he plays three notes in one motion
    so what you do is you death grip the stick in the middle and learn the two-way casey claw, which is what i was just talking about; you hit the butt then the tip of the stick with the claw hand in one motion by rotating the wrist. then, to get the one-handed claw, you get rid of the other hand and with the claw hand, you play butt-tip then add an extra butt at the end by rotating back the other direction. then you repeat, butt-tip-butt butt-tip-butt

    The hi-hat technique is called a Casey claw and is primarily used in marching. There are many good tutorials on youtube

    That hi-hat trick was nuts. It was like the hand equivalent of that weird kick pedal that exists that's a single pedal but has 2 beaters on it so when the pedal pulls back, the second beater hits the drum so you get 2 notes for every one stroke.

    7:56 that’s called the Casey claw. It’s used in marching percussion and rarely ever used in drum set. You move your hand like that to hit the playing surface with the butt of the stick and the tip in a smooth pattern then fill in the rest with diddles.

    I use that first chop and variations of it all the time - try splitting the right hand onto the toms and L on the snare for a chop you can throw in anywhere for a 16.

    looks like he grips closer to the tip and swings the base of the stick (closer to the abdomen) through the edge of the hat twice, and then on the second hit the wrist turns enough that the tip also makes contact. I'm not a drummer but I do a similar thing with a little wooden gear on a stick and my bass guitar string.
