    口 mouth
    Add a line in the middle = 日 day
    Add a stroke on top = 白 white
    Add a line in the middle = 自 self
    Remove the dot = 目 eye
    Replace lines with a cross = 田 field
    Add 木 below = 果 fruit

    I see alot of people saying that the characters are the same as in Chinese, that's because it *IS* Chinese. Japanese has three alphabets 2 of them (hiragana and katakana) were created by Japanese people and 1 of them (kanji) which is Chinese characters. They just renamed it to kanji and some of the characters might be the same but have a different pronounciation and meaning. Japanese people also use Chinese characters for everyday words.

      True. Kanji is literally Kan(漢) + Ji(字) . Kan means Chinese. And Ji means character. So it's literally called Chinese Characters.

      Well Japan has their own Kanji characters that don’t exist in Chinese too. Those are called 和製漢字 (わせいかんじ).
      But Yes, historically, it was adopted from China.

    And this is why good balance is important when writing kanji. I had to really focus to get what these kanji were, when they're normally super easy to read when written with the correct stroke order and balance

    If you know chinese (like me) then japanese is quite easy! Like many of these chracters here, is also characters in chinese and they almost mean the same thing, just with different pronunciations. Like the one she said meant "Day" the character in chinese means "sun"

    Actually we make kanji and we eat in pakistan its carrot and water and other ingredients to make it its very tasty whenever i hear my mouth get watered and i feel taste of kanji its spice+salty+sour taste its very nice tasty

    Also, 口 can mean enclosure or opening as well. The reason why the mouth uses that word is because it is the opening where the food enters your stomach via the esophagus before digestion.

    Thankfully we have 26 simple characters that cover every sound or word in any language.
    Little tip Japan - spaces. So simple so so simple.
    I still love Japanese though because its difficult

    The issue with this is that the kanji for mouth is much more square than all the others, so learners please don't write the kanji like this. Lol
